Having played this extensively, I would say you'll struggle without the magic carpet. You need ways of sending in the troops to clear the board quick. Rafaam is less important overall - I actually dont draw him in most matches.
However, Soularium + Rafaam is plain black magic... XD
Zoo is still and always will be a reasonable deck to play as a budget version so long as the core classic cards are around so no I don't think they are required, there are easily a plethora of other good replacements.

I'm missing 2 magic carpet and rafaam I have around 12k dust. Is magic carpet very important and to me rafaam seems overrated ?
Carpet is nececcary i'd say, because of the tempo gain against other board centric decks like Token Druid or Murloc Shaman. But you can easily replace rafaam with any other tech choice: Bloodsail Corsair or Acidic Swamp Ooze/Leeroy Jenkins(dont like this too much either because of the dead draw most times)/ EVIL Cable Rat for another lackey. Only to name a few.
Magic carpet is essential. It's a super powerful card in the deck.
Rafaam is pretty bad in zoo though. People run it at first because it was fresh and new but it's slow as hell and costs you more games by being useless in hand in an early game deck than it saves you with miracle legendaries.

no carpet no party. the zoolock is known as carpet zoolock as it makes the deck. rafaam not so much tho it saves u against warrior. just try carpets
