This is how devs are constructing the meta through influencers to be mindless. This is how the Blue Pill works. This is how dumbing down works. This is how the meta is constructed to be low skill. Let it for once and for all be clear that is not the community that constructs the meta.
I actually really enjoyed the streams. I don’t usually watch twitch, but I tuned in today and found it to be really fun to watch people crafting decks and playing with the new cards. Obviously I wish I was doing it, but I won’t have every card in the set on day one (or ever, probably) so it was cool watching them have access to every card. Personally, it helped me get even more excited for the expansion! Although it’s probably setting me up for disappointment for when I only open lame cards on launch day and can’t make any of the fun decks.
Yes Blizzard is being dumb and just looking at the financial numbers yet again. They must realise no one wants to watch someone else try an idea they might have had as it kills that initial excitement. On the positive side though I believe the streamers they have are Kripp, toast, kibler, alliestraza. Trump and nicolena. Not one of them could make a seriously competitive deck although a couple of them could make a decent meme deck.
this is literally on event where they get to fuck around for a bit. most of the streamers invited aren't even that good to begin with.
Do you really think Disguised Toast is going to develop a tier 1 deck with cards he's never played before? A few decks already make themselves anyways. Don't you think people are going to just spam Murloc Shaman because it looks straightforward and is easy to build?
People will still experiment, and most of the day 1 decks made by streamers are irrelevant after a week.
Can we stop trying to get upset over literally everything,, it's not that big of a deal. Most of you fucks are going to start netdecking as soon as you realize you can't deckbuild for shit anyways, so why complain about everyone else. Are you actually reliant on other people building worse decks than you just to have fun? If you want to play fun decks expect not to win every game, for fucks sake. I'm still playing Discolock and I'm having a great time despite queueing into 90% meta decks. I just don't give a fuck when I get highrolled by Deathrattle Hunter, because when I do actually beat them it feels even better.
None of you actually want to play the game as intended, you just want to win while playing trash cards to feel better about yourselves. Newsflash: Bad decks don't win as much as good decks.
Ty Hoog. I hope a fanboy or girl challenges the entire idea of this smothering lie perpetrated as “the best way.” It’s sickens me to see how 💴 is the #1 driving force behind everything on this planet. Didn’t mean to swing out of the lane of the forum. However, 💴 has caused so many fantastic things to be put on the back burner it makes my blood boil. Anywho, I’m excited about the new expansion. Sometimes, I wish Big B would keep the expansions release at a little slower pace. ✌️
Trump was putting Nozari in every Paladin deck because it is his favorite card, Kripp was playing some garbage Mecha'thun Warlock, Kibler was playing Tess Rogue with Mountseller etc. Nobody was trying to solve the meta or make the best deck.
Because Hearthstone is losing shares. People are not streaming anymore because the game is becoming bored. So for some dark reason Blizzard though that was better to give early access to streamers instead of design a cool expansion.
I mean, people are still clearly interested in Hearthstone as Kripp had the highest viewed stream on Twitch, beating second place by more than 10k viewers.
Also, a response to the OP, most people seemed to be playing Whizbang decks or decks that had obvious synergy with a quick glance. The decks they were playing will be heavily refined until they're actually good. And the Hearthstone community is not just a few people, watching something is far different than playing it yourself.

I find it an overreaction to think this is at all negative for the game. Yeah like you mentioned just tune out and don't watch the content. I'm not going to really watch the content, and I have no desire to. Personally, I don't think a weekend worth of playing the game at a very minimal amount will instantly create the net decks for the following month. If anything the streamers/firesiders can showcase what may need nerfs early on to the devs as they watch the experimentation process happen live. If anything I think pre-release is a better thing for the game.
A mixed bag then it'd seem! Some people getting pretty emotional on either side of the discussion...
To clear it up - I wasn't implying this is ruining my enjoyment of the set, just kind of tainting what I'd call the peak of excitement during a Hearthstone rotation. I'll still enjoy the game after that, but honestly the first 24 hours of any expansion (especially a new year) are the most fun I have playing the game.
If Blizzard prefer us to consume Hearthstone content by watching Twitch instead of playing then I can work towards that, it sounds much cheaper.
Am I the only one, who didn't watch yesterday's streams?
I mean, everything what OP said was kinda obvious to me and I purposely didn't watch those previews. I'm a person, who doesn't like things getting spoiled (books, movies) and who likes to be surprised. Not to mention, we weren't forced to watch the stream anyway.
Blizz just shows again how thoughtless they can be with regards to the "fun" factors of this game and how it can be further eroded.
The streamers just come across as privileged, spoilt children. Whether they do or do not discover a meta worthy deck or are just acting does not matter, this is all buzz kill. Which is presumably the opposite of the intent.
I just hope this is not something Blizz arrange for all the future releases and if they do streamers step up for their audiences and for the game and decline the invite.
A thinking type. My compliments. But soon a fanboy of sorts will challenge. Blizzards mindless force.
It's so ignorant to write off any opinion that differs to yours as that of a 'fan boy' I agree with the op but can also understand why there are people who would prefer and/or enjoy this type of thing.
I'm impressed that there is such a heated discussion about this, when really the solution is very simple.
If you want to see gameplay of the new set, watch the stream. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't.
Did anyone complain about cards being revealed before release? It's the same thing, if you looked at those, you know what options are available and can theory craft a deck (or simply netdeck one from this very forum) to play immediately upon release.
If you want to experience the challenge of coming up with your own decks, just don't consume this kind of content. I really don't get why people complain about the mere option to look at cards and gameplay before release, when all they have to do to not "ruin their fun" is not consume it.
But it seems instead of exercising self control and making individual decisions a lot of people prefer just to shit on everything that they don't like, even though they are not forced to use, buy or play any of it. To those people, what is your issue with people who enjoy having and using that option? Is there anyone who seriously would not have done the stream themselves had they been given the chance?
Just smells like jealousy and entitlement to me. It's like getting angry at Yankees fans because you like the Red Sox. Has it occurred to you that different people like different things?
Try moderation and self control instead, and let other people enjoy those "spoilers", even if you personally don't like them.
And all of this boils down to "If you don't like it don't watch it/buy it/eat it/drink it etc etc"
I don't like Audi's. I drive a Mercedes. But I don't take to Forums on the Internet to tell everyone they should do the same thing.
It's like Vegans. If you choose to live a lifestyle without Animal Products of any kind that's great. But don't get in my face when I'm walking along the street enjoying my Big Mac. Asshole....(yes, that happened to me a while ago, fucking militant fool...)
The difference is that hearthstone is a community driven game, whether I watch the stream or not it will have an influence on day 1 decks, which is why I feel uneasy about it.
This was the thought process behind my original post anyway, not totally following where we've got to now because I've not read all of the back and forth bickering.
I can go along with the observation that even you don't understand that with your post hits the core problem of HS.
TL;DR. The fanboy is a virus, a desease to the game, a cancer, a plague...and skill is the cure. Streamers function as magnifiers of that species. Watching their streams is contaminating resulting in day 1 decks, which creates that uneasiness. Far from bickering this is analyses for you to understand your 'uneasiness.'

I tried having fun once. It was awful.

I love some streamers, but streamer opinions spread bad reviews of cards too often.
Rogue quest, Rexxar, Mecha'Thun, Star Aligner, Togwaggle, Aluneth anyone?
How about hunter quest, Azalina (without the Togwaggle combo), Blazecaller, Happy Ghoul, Emerald Spellstone, Dr. Boom dk, etc?
Streamers have some good insights, but hot damn they are human too and make plenty of miscalls. Yet sheep are going to be sheep.
That's why I don't watch those anymore. (Except for wowcrendor's gimmick card review if he makes one.)
This comment goes to my heart. Thank you!
