You're right on a lot of points but you're flat out wrong about the KnC Warlock set. Cube was key but Control Warlock was good too. Basically all the KnC Warlock cards were used and were good, and there was more than one OP class card for Warlock in that.
I'm not denying that, though it was "only" good, not insane and over the top like Cubelock. And I'm not even saying that Cubelock was fine (he was OP as hell and deserved nerf), but it was nice to have something new and exciting for this class. Also, Control Lock wasn't new archetype, just another variation of the old one. It would be nice for once, to get something fresh and not designed by smart players, but rather by Blizzard...
Actually, when was the last time Warlock was good thanks to intentional Blizzard's design? And by saying "Blizzard's design" I mean using class cards as keys elements, which defines whole deck archetype. Last really good and strong Warlock deck was Cubelock, right? It was obviously defined by... well, cubes, neutral cards, while class cards were just supporting the whole idea. That (along with later nerfs) makes me believe, Blizzard didn't designed or even predicted this deck, that was just pure player's idea. And what was last good Warlock's deck before Cubelock? Reno Handlock, right? Deck defined mostly by Reno, Mountaing Giants and Molten Giants - yes, you guessed it - neutral cards...
In my opinion Blizzard is not even trying to create any new and interesting archetype for Warlock. His class cards are usualy bland and boring or funny but meta-wise useless memes. Discard pretty much never worked (due to lack of decent card support), same as hand buff.
I guess that next good and fun to play Warlock deck will be created, when Blizzard will make another oversight and won't predict some crazy synergies between Warlock and neutral cards. Otherwise, all we have is zoo, ancient archetype (from times of beta!) created in 80% of neutral cards. Yay... Even hunter - considered to be just aggro / face deck - now have several interesting and fresh archetypes (including mech and deathrattle), and they were clearly designed by Blizzard (we can tell because of good class cards supporting them). Warlock will probably never have same treatment...
After they HoFed Power Overwhelming and Doomguards I'm not even sure, if Warlock still has any key classic class cards (like Fireball, Swipe, Sap, Backstab, Shield Slam, Brawl or Kill Command). Lord J. is trash so maybe Hellfire? That's probably the best one.
What i'm worried about is what they are going to do about replacing the HoF cards. Power Overwhelming was a staple in Zoolock in the old days as far as i know (i started playing about a year ago). What was its replacement? Call of the Void. It's one thing to replace a basic free card with something aimed at teaching new players about the game's mechanics. But Power Overwhelming wasn't that. It was a common card from Warlock's classic set. The replacement should have been something more viable as a card but Call of the Void is just trash pack filler. What are they going to replace Doomguard with? A vanilla 5/5 with no card text? Same happened with Ice Block. Icicle is not a good replacement and not worth the epic rarity. Just another pack filler.
There were a lot of Warlock decks at the HCT, and Zoolock is one of the top 10 best-performing archetypes at this time, so please just lock this ridiculous thread.

Zoolock is... OK, as always. Yet - as it was mentioned before - it is (and always been) deck made of 80% neutral cards. This archetype is old, almost always viable and works well despite most odds. Although it's not because Warlock has awesome class cards. It's because of Warlock's hero power, which is probably the last thing, that saves him from being on Priest level. Basicly, they both sucks more often than not, but Warlock has OP hero power and immortal zoo archetype, while Priest doesn't. This is the only reason why Warlock is 7th class in the meta now, not 9 along with Priest...
Despite all that, Zoo still is boring as hell, I'm really sick and tired of it, especially now, when it's not very effective (it's T3 at best). In some matchups your best way to deal with enemy is to smash concede button and try another game (yes, I'm talking about Warrior... one of the most popular classes in the meta).
Hello, i'm going to update my thread after a month of RoS :)
85% of people who voted in my Poll eagerly stated that Warlock would be fine this expansion. Zoo will be strong as always they thought, Plot Twist Warlock has much potential they told me... The truth is that Zoo sucks and almost none play it, plot twist warlock is a meme and control/handlock is tier 5. LOOOL
34 days after this post was created i can say I WAS RIGHT and you were wrong.
Warlock is not competitive and people who believed it would be good now are playing other classes.
See you :D
which rank are you 25 zoolock is pretty good men its tier 2/3 so nope your not right and warlock not comppetive did you see the worlds ???? so please dont talk crapp

Yeah man, that's exactly why most pros chose Zoolock for their HCT lineup... Cya
Oh i gotta remind you guys that Viper lost the finals because of zoo being so dissapointing, zoo failed him. Probably the most overrated deck of this expansion along token druid. Btw Hunterace didn't bring zoo to the worlds and he won the tournament :D
I've been playing since Vanilla HS and I personally am not going to cry that warlock is not amazeballs currently. The class has been a tier 1/2 deck in far too many metas than I've cared for in the past. Not to mention the class almost single-handedly dictates what other control tools less common control classes are given. "Can't give druids board clears or rogues late game control minions because that is what warlock does. Better given warlock Godfrey 3.0 instead because they are hurting for value engines and removal."

Basing one loss of a 75+ winrate deck because Viper got unlucky lmao. I guess Control Shaman and Hench Clan Sneak are tier 1 now because of Hunterrace wining the tournament right? Just shut up. You’re acting pretentious and pompous when ironically, you’re wrong.

Yeah, that's why everyone is playing zoo on ladder LUL
Any deck with boardclears shits on zoo, and even Rogue outtempo and destroy them. Tell me pls what Broken stuff can do this deck.
People started playing Zoo because it smashed Token Druid in the first few weeks of the Meta. Now that Token Druid has disappeared (thank fuck) it's just not as good. But it's still a fine deck.
Why do you hate Warlock so much Legendarias? Just out of interest.
I don't hate warlock, it's one of my top3 favourite classes.
I opened this thread because i laughted my ass off so hard when the warlock RoS set was revealed. I wanted to share my thoughts and enjoy people crying about how bad is warlock.

Zoo vs a control deck filled with AoE, specifically meant to Target zoo, and zoo still almost won.
Do you also open threads when you are wrong or are you just showboating?
Metas can shift and the current state of Hearthstone does not favor Warlock. A few tweaks and nerfs can alter that quickly. Opening a thread to say: "I think I was right" is just downright pathetic.

Go to HSReplay, sort all current standard decks by winrate, the first 2.5 pages are nothing but Warlock
Viper teched Archthief Rafaam to beat slow control decks, he was targeting control shaman. He played the Rafaam on curve and he had a lot of cards in hand and he didn't stand a chance the whole game hahaha. Zoo is so bad, can only win vs deck with no removal and no tempo XD
Yeah, their data counts a lot of games played on shitty ranks. Many f2p players play zoo because is so cheap and is easy to pilot. Of course they stomp the low ranks, is an aggro deck vs noobs LOOL
Actually i watch a lot of hearthstone on twitch and in 2 weeks i haven't seen not even once a warlock playing on legend. Because it sucks so much vs the current meta and it doesn't do anything powerful or broken, it just flood the board with 1 cost minions LUL.

Warlock will always be good not matter what. The best hero power in the game makes them set for life

Guldan dk was not neutral and it was the most influencial and important card for warlock.
