Yes, for the most part. I only do the 5 wins to get the card back each month. (And I also make sure I stay at rank 25. So it's 2 wins in standard and 3 in wild or vice versa.) Initially I have to admit I also play quite a bit of ranked. But eventually when I hit 400 wins with mage and priest, and they still didn't address that you can't disable golden heroes if you unlocked them I just quit. (Note: I do like the animations, but the "goldenness" looks rather ugly in my opinion; I just don't want to be stuck with it.) I personally think it wasn't a big difference at least back in the days. But I also think that indeed there should be less tryhards be in casual. So with that in mind I don't think I would ever go back trying to earn those golden heroes (the main reason I played ranked back in the days) even if they would fix it. Casual is much better if you just want to have fun. Although the best would be if you can play with friends. I had the best games playing with friends. They should really try to implement some sort of in-game "guild" system or so where you can easily meet new people to play some fun games according to whatever that "guild" defines as fun. Hopefully that will eventually be a thing. But I guess they don't have too much of a focus on something like that at the moment.
I quit caring about my rank, and now Ranked is really fun. I switch between Standard and Wild, I change decks, I play whatever I want... still get to Rank 10 each month and really enjoy it much more than trying hard to grind up to Rank 5+ with only meta decks. Still chasing 500 ranked wins in 7 classes, so I never play Casual, ever.
No.

I enjoy a free golden epic every month so I still grind at least to 5 on one or the other ladder.
