I used to be very enthusiastic about this game - the top game I spent time and money ever, so much that even after I stopped, I come from time to time to see the new cards and gameplay
Me and my whole friendlist simply burned out of the f2p business model (we were mostly paying customers) but when I see what's out there in the market, HS is still king. The top card strategy videogame still!.
Of course I'm aware that the game is not as popular as it once was, but I think it's moslty about the genre declining in favor of .. battle royale. Thus the mass that plays HS is here to stays for longer I suppose.
So all that said, do any of you care to share what keeps you playing? How long have you been playing?
Edit: I Pleyed since official launch until the expansion that featured dr boom as a 7 hero card for warrior. I was also in this forum with another nickname but forgot my account :(
I starting play few weeks before the release of Nax, never spend money in the game and still play because I like a lot trying some original decks comes to my mind, that is why for me the absolute best moments in HS is the one or two weeks after the release of new expansion, in this short period of time many people try new things.
After that the braindead netdeckers ruin most of the fun but I like trying new things anyway.
I've only been playing since K&C so i haven't experienced the burnout just yet. I haven't spent a single dime on this game and the challenge to climb to Legend is probably what keeps me playing
I just play it for quests and then do arena while I watch youtube or netflix. But once I am done with the arena or quests I just close. but have stopped spending any money on the game. 2 years of jade druid ruined it for me, to the point where I have disenchanted all my druid cards.
Because, contrary to popular belief, the meta is in a great place right now, based on the number of viable decks. Also, lots of decks are still fun, and new decks are great to try out.
I play since the first wing of Naxxramas, then i stop playing like two weeks after Rastakhan. The new shaman cards, the rotation and the hall of fame makes me come back lul
The same reason I started playing: I enjoy it. Sometimes I play meta decks to get some climbing in, other times I meme or experiment with new ideas.
But I only play if I’m enjoying myself. Even if I’m winning games, if I don’t feel like I’m having fun I stop and play something else, or go do something totally different.

Nice, i‘m not the only one!
Personally, it‘s the collecting aspect that get‘s me hooked the most. I go for legend every other month or so either because i reach rank 3 „by accident“ or because i find a deck particulary enjoyable.
Hearthstone just offers something for every mood. Got lots of time and want to go on a raid? Arena is your place. Fancy some crazy interactions? There a plenty of meme decks! Not in a competitive mood? Just chill in a solo adventure.
Welp when u are invested in the game and have a lot money into it. Also I like playing hearthstone. No other card game gets me excited to play it I have tried Mtg I have tried Shadowverse I have tried another one. It just doesn’t hit all the buttons for me.

This guy right here got to be dumbest person on the planet.
I play since 3 months after release and I only play fun decks in wild. I've never reached Legend but i've never tried either. I just enjoy the fun side of the game: rng, crazy combos and all, while I give 0 fuc*s about competitive play. I also buy the starting bundle for each expansion but that's it.
I enjoyed the F2P model since 2014, because I have about 85% of all classical legendaries, and the dust to craft those very few I might need. The meta is actually exciting, and each season I can afford to craft 2 - 4 decks I'm really eager to try.

Hello!

It's fun, and you can play it on break or in the lavatory.

It is, you should stop using it.

I laughed too much at this
Because it's on mobile

Been playing since Launch, but not beta.
I ask this myself every day.
Audaces fortuna juvat.
Started playing since day one, but now I only play to get the card back each month. Haven't missed one since day one, not going to stop now.
You do not truly know someone, until you fight them.....

Bottom line: Because I still think it is fun.
