Card effects may be the same, but their value vary radically in a game of different rule sets.
keywords like Charge in Hearthstone have proven to be fundamentally broken, while Haste in Magic isnt as oppressive.
The rule sets make these effects vary in power level significantly.
Even cards effects also are different, the Magic Green Card "Prey Upon" is near identity to the Hunter card "The Beast Within", while one is a staple removal in green decks, hunter isnt using the other. All due to the fact that the game rules are different and magic has more conservative defensive gameplay options over Hearthstones aggressive tempo playstyle (in addition to damage carrying over in HS while it doesnt in Magic).
Avoiding plagiarism is a must, but where there's no infringement on laws game designers should make whatever cards are best for their respective game. If that means having cards that share essentially the same mechanics, then so be it.
BTW, all these card games use the same basic mechanics of having a deck, drawing cards, and having minions and spells (insert appropriate names as required). It is inevitable some card effects look the same too since they are working with the same fundamentals.
Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
There are so many ccg, it's not reasonable to expect every card to be unique. If a certain type of card fits in a set, it shouldn't not be printed just because another game had a similar card.
Keep calm OP, nothing is stolen... Getting inspiration from other card games is actually a cool thing, so please stop whining or every stingle thing, don't be this stupid please...
1. Team5 has people who have worked on MTG, so technically all is fine. 2. "Reprint" old cards - team5 did not hide their intention of bringing back old mechanics. Additionally I dont consider it "lazy" since the "reprinted" cards still need to fit into the design space of year of the dragon cards. 3. The Poll options are terribly restricting. Should've tried something like:
They should strive to print mainly unique cards. I don't mind them borrowing a few ideas. Yes they should only borrow ideas from other CCGs.
The OP should have explained what motivated his decision to post the poll - since he didn't, lots of folks don't have any clue what he's trying to ask the community.
Occasionally, cards from one game resemble cards from another game. Over twenty-five years ago, a card in MtG allowed both players to shuffle their hands into their decks, and draw seven cards - it was called "Timetwister," and it was a pretty broken effect. Indeed, Timetwister, and eight other early MtG cards are the reason that folks call over-powered effects "broken" - the "Power Nine" broke the fundamental rules of MtG, and had to be banned or restricted in every format in order to ensure that games of MtG actually played like the game was intended.
Ever since, MtG, and just about every other CCG has tried to make versions of Timetwister (and other broken cards) that aren't completely busted - the new Warlock card, Plot Twist, is the first collectable version of the effect in HS. During the "Taverns of Time" event, a card called Possibility Seeker was available which also had the same effect.
There are quite a few cards in HS which resemble cards from other games - Mike Donais has commented on Violet Wurm being nearly identical to the MtG card "Symbiotic Wurm". As it happens, MD formerly designed for MtG, and designed both cards. There are others, and there will be plenty more. It's no big deal, and there honestly isn't much point to the OP's post, even if he had bothered taking the time to explain himself - it's perfectly acceptable to introduce cards having a functionality similar to cards from other games, particularly when it's an interesting effect.

literally no problem with this at all
Who cares? All CCG's do this to some extent, most of the time accidentally, lol.

So yes, it's A-OK.
But what doea arcane intelect dooo?!!?!
If you have a deck idea might as well go full ham on it.
Lol, yhey aren't for most classes. Also the league of EVIL is a fandavourite for mechanicd of the past years.
They stole also having cards in your hand. How do Hearthstone have cards ? It is an obvious steal...
Oh they also stole turn-based mechanic of other ccgs.
Damn there is also time limit to play your turn, like other ccgs... How dare you?
Did you see that? you have also mana to play, like other ccgs... What a steal !?
aw, come on ! You have maximum deck size, like other ccgs ? OMG cards have images also !!
this "having keyword" on cards is a huge steal from other ccgs. Nothing original in Hearthstone. I'm leaving...

Arcane Intelect is a pot of greed is disguise too :/
It's ok as long as they don't steal from Artifact.
IT ALLOWS ME TO DRAW TWO CARDS, KAIBA !!!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't play other card games so I don't care. As long as it helps the game I don't mind.
