Not at all, used to play it a lot, but now I only grab a few games for my monthly card back and a couple of more per week only to do a couple of quests. About 15 games per month or so.
Normally I try to push as high as possible. This season I decided to give wild a go and eneen up getting legend in the first 2 weeks so now I'm just trying to finish my nogn golden classes at rank 5 in standard
My highest rank is 7, but that was using a budget odd paladin deck so I can't take any pride in it. I'm much more proud of the results I got with decks I made myself, which are normally between ranks 15 and 10. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with using net decks, I just prefer using my own designs.
I don't care. I play to enjoy myself, not necessarily to win every game. Rank 20-11 is normally where I end up, and if I enjoy myself along the way then so much the better.
Rank 5. I have all golden heroes and play a lot of Hearthstone. I reached Legend twice so far. Been playing since around Naxxramus/GvG.
I like Rank 5 because you face all serious decks. People try hard to get Legend so they play with intent. It's the best way to learn the meta and how to beat certain decks. Outside of Rank 5 I think you see more of a variety which leads to inconsistent play.
Rank doesn’t really matter to me but with that said, I also have to say that I only play ladder. Haven’t touched casual for at least a year and I’ve had only two arena runs since I started playing in 2015. It’s the format I enjoy the most, both Standard and Wild.
It goes without saying that I prefer winning games to losing them so I like climbing. I don’t get to play that much and have only reached rank 5 about five or six times with my highest being rank 2, 4 stars.
As others have said, there really isn’t a noticeable difference in skill from ranks 15 through to 5. A lot of it depends on how much time you have to grind. I played a game this morning, Wild odd pally mirror where my turn one play was the 1/1 taunt divine shield girl (can’t believe I can’t remenber her name!) and my opponent, at rank 6, plays the same minion and then coins a blessing of night into her.... oops. so yeah, tons of misplays and poor play in general at every rank. I don’t exclude myself from that statement either
The game doesnt start for me until i get legend, thats when the fun starts and u face the better players, that is if u arent dumbster rank. So i try to rush to legend, i get bored quick, so i switch decks alot, so i could prolly do it quicker. At the start of a new expansion i take longer because i am trying things.
"dumbster" rank. I guess you are one who validates his intelligence based on his rank in a video game compared to others. You should be banned for even insinuating trash like this. The mental disorder that exists in the gaming community, in general, deserves a study and the findings published.
I'm a newer player, so I just shoot for rank 15 each month. I'm pretty content with that, but have managed to hit rank 12 a couple times and that is more than enough for me. I just like trying to get some more cards/dust or I wouldn't care about ladder at all.

Ok just to back pedal this because this is a great thread and a lot of good discussion is happening...
A ton of people refer the absolute bottom of any tier, good or bad, as dumpster for a variety of reasons. In Hearthstone, it is considered "dumpster" because a lot of players stop caring as soon as they make Legend and begin playing less than meta archetypes. At "Deep Legend" it is relatively easy to gain rank (even maybe jump into Legend if not already when a newly legend player starts meme-ing the moment they make Legend). So at this rank sometimes you can deduce whether your deck, skill, or general rng started grinding you further. Thus, "Dumpster Legend" is often used. This is not to describe the players, this is not to flame, and definitely not to say you are a "know it all". Please consider this info if you are taking serious offense to the terms. They mean something different than you are perceiving.
I dont give a $hit about ranks - playing only in casual mode to farm fast 30 wins each day. Ladder is cancerous anyway 'cause of meta-playing: you see a class, you see they first 1-2 cards played and you know what deck they have - pure BOREDOM.
I'll be honest, I like hitting legend. After failing to do so for a long time, it feels like I've finally gotten that slight bit better in that I seem to be able to do it consistently, and in less games than it took me the first time.
I'm just trying to get 5 wins. Nothing else matters.

Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
My all time best rank since i started (ungoro) was r14. (i reached it with a simple winstreak with old token druid cause i said to myself i wont quit until i lose, then i just got bored and did quit anyway) As soon as i get the monthly 5 wins (which is usually about 20mins total) i get the hell out of that gamemode.

as this guys below says, its a commen term used to divide legend players, most streamers use this when they arent in top 1000. The tern has nothing to do with what u think, and it isnt used to insult, but as a communication tool for streamers for their fans.

I love dumpster legend it is like casual, but the players are better and your wins count towards your golden hero
I try to avoid people of high ranks. They're usually tryhards and don't play just for fun like I do. I personally play only the 5 games to get the card back each month. Furthermore since you can't disable golden heroes I also don't want to hit that threshold before they fix that (which I hope will eventually happen; luckily I'm like 20 years or so away from it with only 5 mandatory ranked wins each month). Chicken rank is still best rank. Unfortunately not many seem to play just for fun. I guess it's because of all the rewards and people don't want to spend so much money on the game. After all the most fun decks are generally also the most expensive ones. Oh well. But yeah, for me a high rank is a bad thing.
I also want to say, if you net deck and climb ladder with it you are a scrub. You have zero skill in deck building, and you should feel sorry for yourself. You're copying some one else's homework and claiming it as your own and expecting a reward. When more and more scrubs play these netdecks you really start to see how bad those deck are and how easily they can be taken apart and beaten!
/rant
Pathetic. So when your mum uses a recipe for cooking, she should feel sorry for herself aswell? Do you call every football player a scrub who is not inventing his own shots?
This game is about fun. Ok, so you like to challenge yourself and build your own decks, fine. But most people just want to open the game, play a couple matches and leave again. Plus most of us have to think through how to spend our dust and not everyone can craft „the darkness“ for the memes.
Friendly reminder: You are not special because you won a game with your dragonsoul deck on rank 10. Wake up.
No, I don't care about my rank but I got used to getting legend. Apparently, other people do care A LOT and counterqueue every single time. That's why after I hit legend I usually stop playing for the entire month

4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
Gaming should always be pure fun... So sorry but not interested... Doing the dailies is the max I'm ready to "grind"...
