I think we have to differenciate between „popular“ and „good design“.
It‘s almost impossible to have most cards see play in the era of netdecking and large scale Data analysis. Popularity is unpredictibel and meta dependent.
But the cards we have seen so far are >90% interesting! This has not often been the case. Granted, pack fillers probably will be revealed at the final reveal stream.
I think it is disappointing so far the new mechanic twinspell is kinda lame and there is only 1 new mechanic. The ROS villain classes probably would get a chunk of cards from the villains'theme for a few expansion which kinda suck.
Bot Matematician and his buddy, Holomancer, did a nice video about the upcoming rotation (the biggest rotation so far, 414 cards in total are exiting the standard format). And that's the thing I am most excited about. The meta won't be the same. Yes, we will still have aggro/control/combo decks, but they will be totally different than what we saw in the last year and maybe some sleepers from WW, BP and RR will find their deserved place in the new T1/T2 decks.
Some of the cards from the new expansion look interesting, I agree, but community and streamers were wrong before, about the powerlevel of a certain card, so I try to keep my excitement and hypes lower, so to not get much disappointed, when we see how the cards actually performs in the new meta.
Maybe some of you will find the video interesting (statistics and stuff) and decide to give them some love (like/subscribe to the channel), so here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkBjzeMQrZo

I would like to hope that this new set enbales a more diverse meta and balance of power across the classes. From the cards so far I doubt this is the case as several of the cards are overpowered or weak to the point of directly impacting the classes they support.
If anything I would not be surprised if the meta moves towards even more rock, paper, scissors. And the OP cards become the only ones in use while the other, "interesting" cards fall into obscurity, more never to be used failures.
I think it's a hindsight thing. Tons of sets have released interesting cards that seemed balanced to people, but after a month of the set being out everyone realizes most of the cards are awful in practice.
I think I agree indeed. I went into this reveal season with lots of disappointment from the last sets. But slowly I must say the cards I see for RoS peak my interest and many cards look like they have a chance to see play in the meta. I am still a bit worried though because most of the cards that seem cool and strong, are slow and high costed. So they could easily release some super strong aggro cards in the next days that make those cool big cards near worthless. But then again, I like me some aggro play, so somewhere I also hope they reveal some juicy aggro cards...
This is the first expansion I did not pre-order at reveal because I have been so disappointing last sets. I still haven't bought them but I am really feeling the urge to do so :)

Feels just like every other expansion to me.

Was Chameleos really that hyped up? I don’t remember him to be such a tier god card in the reviews
Expansion with many interactive cards; I love that.
