I'm sure a thread like this already exists in these forums, but I'm too lazy to find it. Anyway, I've been generally pleased with the recent class legendaries for RoS, but they're making me nostalgic over all the ones rotating to Wild this year. That got me thinking; what do people consider the best legendary for each class in HS history?
For my choices, I defined "best" in terms of the card's power level and flavor combined. I only started playing midway through the KoFT expansion, so I'm genuinely curious since I can't really speak for legendaries from earlier expansions (though I did include some pre-KoFT cards based on general player reactions). Here's my list:
Druid - Fandral Staghelm Never got to play him, but players keep singing this card's praises. It's easy to see why with that effect, which is just perfect for Druid's "choose one" theme.
Hunter - Deathstalker Rexxar Strongest and most fun card for the class, and I don't think this will ever be topped.
Mage - Frost Lich Jaina This might be recency bias on my part, but it's hard to deny DK Jaina's impact. When I think of Mage, I think of the DK first. None of the class's earlier legendaries are as impactful, imo.
Paladin - Sunkeeper Tarim Supplanted Tirion Fordring as the strongest Paladin card; can be slotted in almost every Paladin deck.
Priest - Prophet Velen A ubiquitous presence in the Priest class, seeing play in Razakus, Resurrect, and control decks.
Rogue - The Caverns Below The flavor is perfect for Rogue's stealth-y identity. Plus it's enabled one of the most oppressive decks in HS.
Shaman - I seriously don't know.
Warlock - Mal'Ganis It was between this and Lord Jaraxxus. I chose this because of its demon synergy and higher power level, though I'm not sure if this created some oppressive decks in the meta back in the day.
Warrior - Grommash Hellscream It's just the perfect fit for the class in terms of its effect and flavor. Auto-include in most Warrior decks as a finisher.

The best legendary for Warrior always will be Jussicar Truehart. Lol
guldan for warlock.... it even a discussion? main piece in one of the most opresive decks in hearthstone 5 year history , so dominant it ruined the witchwood because even without n'zoth it was still that dominant. How dominant? they had to nerf the shit out of it and it is still viable.
Shuderwock for shaman , your list is a joke ma dude.
One of the most straightforward ways of measuring the relative power levels of class Legendaries is to simply look at play-rates in Wild on HSReplays. For the most part, there isn't a "close second" in any class.
Hunter The class didn't have any playable legendaries until Deathstalker Rexxar, and as this card singlehandedly carries the class in every single deck, this is no tough decision.
Paladin While Tirion Fordring is perhaps a slight bit stronger overall, since it doesn't require a specific board state, Sunkeeper Tarim is the much more impactful one.
Priest Another class that pretty much had no class legendaries for years. Vol'jin was used for a little bit, so was Lyra the Sunshard, but things really changed with Shadowreaper Anduin, which made several other legendaries good overnight and gave Priest a win condition.
Rogue Tough to say, since the good legendaries are all intended for specifc decks, and then it depends on how good that deck performs. Edwin VanCleef for Miracle, The Caverns Below for its own deck, and Kingsbane for Mill and aggressive Oil strategies. Edwin is likely the most flexible one, but Kingsbane, in my opinion, ends up as the stronger one.
Shaman Yet another class without legendaries. Al'Akir the Windlord is alright, but got indirectly nerfed twice (probably not even intended) through Rockbiter Weapon and Flametongue Totem, and was already often overlooked. Considering the strength of its effect, I think Shudderwock is the best the class has for now.
Warlock Bloodreaver Gul'dan is, I think, the strongest, but only as it succeeded Lord Jaraxxus, which will likely be the best Warlock legendary again in Standard. Mal'Ganis is good too, but only conjunction with one of the two.
Warrior I don't know... the class had and has many legendaries that are good, but no card that I'd say is a must-have for Warriors. Possibly Dr. Boom, Mad Genius, but even that is debatable. Maybe Grommash Hellscream, as it still is a very strong finisher, but one that wasn't used/needed for quite some time now.
No way Velen is best Priest Legendary, it didn't see any play for like 4 years. Both Lyra and Anduin are much better, if I have to choose it would be Anduin.
Relative to the game's power level, Tirion has been stronger in official release than Tarim is in modern meta, although Tarim was more impactful because it had a good deck it fit into.
With Warlock, if it comes down to Lord Jaraxxus vs Mal'Ganis, the answer is without a doubt Jaraxxus both because of its impact and flavour. I'd rate Jaraxxus over Bloodreaver as well for flavour reasons.

Let me know your choices!
Shaman - alakir
There is a difference between most iconic and most efficient class legendary
For me, the list goes like this:
Warlock: Lord Godfrey
Warrior: Darius Crowley
Paladin: Sunkeeper Tarim
Mage: Open the Waygate
Hunter: Deathstalker Rexxar
Shaman: Grumble, Worldshaker
Priest: Prophet Velen
Rogue: Myra's Unstabble Element
Druid: Flobbidinous Floop
Now got powercreeped by a common lol
Shudderwock for shaman
The best legendary for Warrior always will be Jussicar Truehart. Lol
I'd like to suggest Lyra, the Sunshard for Priest.
guldan for warlock.... it even a discussion? main piece in one of the most opresive decks in hearthstone 5 year history , so dominant it ruined the witchwood because even without n'zoth it was still that dominant. How dominant? they had to nerf the shit out of it and it is still viable.

Lyra or Paletress for Priest
Guldan by dar for Warlock
Druid - Twig of the World Tree
Hunter- King Krush
Mage - Open the Waygate
Paladin -Sunkeeper Tarim

Lots of Legendaries have been nerfed, or soft-nerfed when their supporting cards were targeted for re-balancing.
Damn, I forgot about Lyra. Good call
Druid
While Fandral Staghelm is a very good all-purpose legendary, I think Malfurion the Pestilent and especially Flobbidinous Floop help the class more by now.
Hunter
The class didn't have any playable legendaries until Deathstalker Rexxar, and as this card singlehandedly carries the class in every single deck, this is no tough decision.
Mage
The only strong class legendary before Frost Lich Jaina was Archmage Antonidas, and he became harder and harder to fit into decks.
Paladin
While Tirion Fordring is perhaps a slight bit stronger overall, since it doesn't require a specific board state, Sunkeeper Tarim is the much more impactful one.
