I set up my friend's place as an unlisted Fireside Gathering on April 6th so that we can open our packs early. How does all of this end up going down? Blizzard's info leaves a lot of questions.
Do I have to have a certain amount of people in order to have access to the prerelease?
Does everyone have to be connected to the same wifi?
Will our devices verify our geographic location?
We're planning to get together just for this, so it would be a shame if I'm not understanding something correctly and we can't open our packs.
I have not looked into the details, but I hosted a private pre-release event for Rastakhan's Rumble and can tell how that went.
Number of people does not matter. This one I can say for sure. Just log into Hearthstone and to your event. Not much to do if you're alone, of course, but the moment a second player shows up, you can play the pre-release Brawl with the new cards.
I'm not sure about the answers to your other questions. We played on our wifi, all players were on the same wifi, so no idea if it would have worked otherwise. PC players can play just fine too, and there's no GPS on a tabletop PC, so if something was used to verify the same location, it would have to be the wifi. I hope this helps at least a little.
