Some people on this thread would have a complete conniption if they played Magic: The Gathering.
Wizards of the Coast is so "bored" that they frequently reprint older cards in new sets. OH NO, THEY'RE OUT OF IDEAS!
Apples and Oranges. Wizards are completely transparent when they reprint. Blizzard are not reprinting, they are recycling mechanics for some key legendaries.

So, when wizards prints the eleventh 2 mana 3 damage red spell they are not being "lazy", but when Blizzard calls back to previous expansions there are being "lazy". Nice double standard you have going on right there.
It's been pretty clear to me that the members of EVIL and the "callback" cards they bring with them are exactly that: calling back to previous expansions. That seems pretty transparent to me...
I keep seeing people saying that recycling mechanics for sets is a bad thing and I do not understand. Recycled mechanics are a sign of growth in card games, MTG has recycled mechanics again and again. All it means is that they think they were onto something in the past, and they think they can flex the mechanic to make it even better. It's not a sign of decreased creativity in fact I think its the opposite.
Also as kind of a side point, a card game being big enough to reference its own past is an amazing sign of progress!
The mechanic i want the most is recruit and inspire, sadly they are not printed that much these days
I would also like to see inspire again, especially since they've rotated out Genn and Baku. I wasn't playing during TGT, but I've always thought that mechanic was super cool.
I remember when people said ww was the shittiest expansion ever and then it warped the meta completely for a year to such an extent that they had to rotate the cards representing the main theme of the expansion after nerfing multiple times over the year both even and odd archetypes.

Inspire felt very clunky. Having 2 use 2 mana hp to make your minion viable was not very good (or easy) and messed up your curve. Maybe they can work on that tho

Every person that says that Blizzard is being lazy recycling cards needs to read this. Finally Blizzard is reintroducing old mechanics in cool interesting ways and people call it cheap design? THIS is what most old time players have wanted for a while and I couldn't be more happy bringing back some old mechanics.
Also for people that stated that Hearthstone devs are running out of ideas you must have never heard of MTG. Magic has been around for over 20 years and is still going strong. Hearthstone has a literal infinite amount of design possibilities; you can just check custom cards to give you an idea of how limitless card design is.
All in all, I'm excited for this expansion and rotation and while I still wish for more gamemodes, cosmetics, and cheaper sets, I feel just as confident in Hearthstone as I did years ago.
Man it is not. This is in fact the point. Players are leaving Hearthstone because the game is becoming boring.
Is the game less boring if you recycle old stuffs? No, it is as bored as before.
If I want play Dott. Boom I go in wild. I don't care about another Boom equal in standard. It is bored. And for sure I will not pay for have a duplicate. We have 3 fucking Booms. Stop it.
This was tough to read and you have 0 statistical evidence to make a claim that players are leaving Hearthstone because the game is becoming boring. Your argument about recycling also holds 0 weight if the re-used mechanics come about in new and interesting ways (which they have) and offer great nostalgia for old time players.
Man I already posted evidences. I will quote myself again:
Run out its course, it is excessive. But they are for sure risking a lot and like now my opinions on this expansion are very bad.
Hearthstone is loosing a lot of players. Everyone know that, due to Blizzard's financial position that is going very bad (also due to Diablo immortal) (see market cap on Yahoo finance in the past 3 months), because Blizzard fired 800 people in February (see article) and also because Ayala said that in February on twitter (see screen). So, they are not going well for sure.
They are taking now a lot of risks with this expansion because, they seems lazy.
Come on, this expansion seems very lazy In the design, recycle cards, it is a very fast process. If we Consider also that a lot of people seems leaving Hearthstone because the game is becoming boring, for sure the game is not less boring recycling old stuffs. So, everything like now it is very questionable.
Hearthstone made, after Brode, horrible expansions, and this is unfortunately a fact. After Brode, Hearthstone started to lose players. So, I don't think that Hearthstone will run out its course now, but in the nearly future, if they don't change a lot of things, and the start is really bad.
If you paid attention to the reveal streams and promotions, the whole theme of this rotation is to tie together all the artificial lore of the Hearthstone Universe. These cards arent direct reprints, but are variations of previous cards and mechanics, and there are only a few of those cards, especially since they revealed the callback cards FIRST. As to the powerlevel of the cards, the first expansion tends to have cards that create the cores of decks that TEND to be powerful during the rotation, rather than create OP archetypes on thier own. This stuff should be pretty obvious to people who have played thru a rotation by now

It has very good synergy with recruit. The bad thing about battlecry is that it wont trigger unless played from hand. Developers balanced inspire badly, it is not the mechanic's fault but rather developers' balance decisions.

ok, for one, i did pay attention. you start by assuming I didnt cuz I asked a question. I asked i just wanted to hear what long time players thought. I know the theme is whats stated, however, its also an indicator they are running out of fresh ideas. seriously, there are only so many ways to make a 3 mana 3/4 different and intersting year after year. also, with the rish of Chinese players, the game prob has alot of life left over there still.
Alot of streamers have left the HS communtiy too, out of boredom, or disgust with the design directions etc.....
There have been articles about Blizzard not making as much money from HS anymore.
Its just a topic to generate thoughts and opinions.
So many of you just go to the place of insulting me , or trying to ban the question etc...how about just share you opinions like normal? 5 years is a long time for a game to stay relevant.
I've spent probably $2000 on this game in the last 4 years. I haven't played one game in the last 3 months though.
Just lost its luster to me. This will be my first expansion not buying any packs. I'll probably play some this expansion to see if I can get back interested. I will just disenchant all the useless legendaries I have accumulated over the years.

Yes. Every game is dead. Everything is dead. Even you are dead. Your thread was just part of your punishment in hell.

If I wanted to get anything connected to Hooghout on my t-shirt it would be the front page of r/iamverysmart

Do you need something else? Check on yahoo finance if you want the precise loss. But more or less is half of the market cap in 3/4 months.

Curious to hear an example of this because I honestly can't think of any...
Look at the last 19 years worth of Blizzard games and tell me if they know how to keep a game going through thick and thin.

Enough said.
