I just want to hear your opinions on this, because for me, it’s a pretty big deal.
I am absolutely in love with the mechanic since they brought it into the game. Turning into another character and completely changing the way you play thanks to a new hero power and/or an impactful battlecry is fantastic and it feels fresh and fun (notably Dr Boom, he is absolutely a blast to play).
I think it’s a shame they got rid of that, I thought they would stick to it because they managed to bring those cards to a quite ok balance level during Year of the Raven.
Eh. They can bring it back some other time. We’ve had them around for a good while now and getting new ones don’t feel as exciting as the original deathknights ya know?
But that’s my opinion. I can see how you wouldn’t mind getting more if they were your favorite mechanic :P
Jarraxus is the best hero type card. Power always must come with a price. team5 learnt their lession of better hero power with DK and Odd/Even decks. They really feed up with it and I understand why they gave up that typr of card for a while.
As much as I love them, I thinks it wouldn't be good on the long run. Could get boring I think. However I'm sad that not all classes had 2 hero cards... Maybe in the future.
I'd rather not have more hero cards that make otherwise awful decks, insanely strong. I'm looking at you Hunter. It's a relief to know a single card won't carry an entire class.
They didn't get rid of the mechanic, there will be 3 hero cards in standart still. ( Zuljin, Hagatha, Dr. Boom). If anything making 1 hero card for every expansion is repetitive and same. They will print more this year its just not this expansion.
I want to add 1 more thing. Hero cards in frozen throne has been absolutely broken and i hated the rng of getting a card early to win the game. Hero cards tend to have this effect. I dont like a hero power to give infinite value to my opponent while im playing a control deck. In case of 3 remeaning hero cards, they have been on the lower power level when compared to rexxar or frost lich jaina. So i think upcoming expansion will have some control decks that can outvalue the opponent to win.
I will answer you again, even this is so ridiculous to answer same question million times.
1 hero per expansion was bad idea. Because you have 6 expansions in a rotation and it makes other 3 classes feel like oprhan if they even have great cards.
I and all are liked hero cards. Noone can refuse that but they need to put 9 heroes for an expansion not 1 for per expansion.
Also if they keep producing hero cards per expansion, they will lack some of space for new mechanics. For example, If they decided to make a battlefield card for each class, one class will have 1 battlefield card and 1 hero card, no legendary minion. This is even bad for the class which has the hero card.
So I liked how this expansion handles with legendaries. 1 boss legendary and 1 support legendary. Actually, the way Rastakhan's Rumble was beautiful, if there was no Zul'jin.

The hero cards represented a major balance issue, especially with the decidedly lower card quality in year of the raven - as in if and when you drew them they very often just won the game on the spot. It's also more true for the first iteration of hero cards, mainly Jaina, Anduin, Gul'dan, Malfurion. Hagatha and Rexxar are/were frustrating because of their grindy nature, more like limiting certain other archetypes from seeing play.

If you think that midrange hunter is an awful deck outside Deathstalker you might have another think coming (same for deathrattle hunter but it's rotating so never mind it). Post rotation It still has Master's Call which enables the cheap stuff and the Dire Frenzy. Losing Crackling Razormaw is the biggest deal, but I guess they could just introduce a 2-drop beast and the deck is definitely still tier1 with very solid matchups.
A bit disappointing since it may look unfair if you love the flavor of each class or a specific class. If Hunter, Shaman, Warrior got theirs, it felt unfair for other classes. The "Hero card" as a mechanic is not broken. A new hero power offers variety and class identity, which is very interesting. Only if it becomes redundant with the current hero powers or are not balanced makes it uninteresting/frustrating to play against. like Frostlich and ZULJIN

Well Hagatha was not an original Dk that's how bad Shaman's actual DK was.
Hero Cards are insane. Expect Jaraxxus, I love that card. Anyway, some are weaker like Shaman's and Warrior' DK, but they got Hagatha and Boom, those are strong. Zul'Jin too. Back to the question? I would like to see balanced Hero Cards, unlike Jaina and Rexxar, but I think it will be better without them.

I'm pretty confident it won't be a good deck without rexxar, it ran out of steam quickly and it was really only successful due to the deathknight

Hero cards should have a lower powerlevel if they return.

I like it a lot. Dk's that are staying are powerful but at the other hand much much more balanced as opposed to Rexxar, Jaina, GulDan.

No hero card fresh meta. If you love them go to wild and if you’re so but hurt about not getting one you can play till your little hearts content
