so many people think that just because they are doing something more than once, its lazy. why? there is nothing wrong with using old characters and mechanics.
When you are recycling cards, mechanics, characters and so on, it is lazy. This expansion is fundamental for the game and the start is very bad, very low creativity like now, except in few cards.
I don't think you understand the words you use. There is a difference between 'lazy' and 'not what I want' Who are you to call them lazy?
You might not like it but plenty of people do and saying 'lazy' makes it sound like they've just been sat around, not being able to be botheted to think of anything. I'm sure they've worked really hard on this and it may be a success, it may not. They may have made bad decisions or wrong choices but don't be a dick and call other people lazy for doing a job you have no idea how to do or have any idea how much effort has been put in.
Your criticisms are lazy and unintelligent Think before you type because you just sound like a a spoiled ass.
You the same guy who kept repeating 'no hero cards, me sad! No hero cards, me have no fun! Me not happy no hero cards, me going to be not looking in forwarding to this because it no fair on me wanting heroes'?
I really like old charact and mechanics coming back. In fact, I'm a bit disappointed to know each villain class will only have one card using old mechanics.
Also, I think Kel'thuzad would've been a better representative of the first year, since Dr. Boom already came back very recently. I guess they wanted Hearthstone villains, not WoW villains (yes, Boom is original from WoW, but he only became relevant in Hearthstone)
Actually the "powerdown" created the worse year we ever had as consequence just to satisfy people expectation for powerlevel after it.
So i'm sorry to say but his opnion is just the truth of what happened last year of the point of view of who wasn't bad about KaC and there is a ton of people that feel this way. So his opnion is not only as valid as anyone here but also more constructive than anyone that just repeated about rotation all the year like a zombie.
Actually i'm can even say that blizzard real fault is not define what they really want for the game and change the direction every freaking year.
So thanks to people like you who did agree with they making we wait a entire year instead of doing their job his opnion got really solid.
That said. If they ever do another powerdown for whatever reason i'm out.
But since i'm did pass over all that really bad year this time i'm want to see what the dragon has to us.
At least the story isn't 1 expansion and then done
Also, people love Dr.7 and Rafaam.
I see NO problem

I hope this doesn't count as bashing, but I think it's super weird to worry about the video quality of promos and to pass judgment on the game based on something you looked at once and will never see again after the expansion drops.
That just seems like deeply messed-up priorities to me.
It's the little things that count. A lack of attention to detail speaks volumes when it comes to branding.
But you're complaining about something that literally does not and cannot count at all, as far as the actual game itself is concerned. They could promote it with a homeless guy holding a magic-marker poster, and it wouldn't affect the quality of the game one bit.
To me, slick, expensive marketing is a big turn-off, to be honest, because I feel that money would be better spent improving the game.
Rise of Shadows has this "oh crap I forgot to write that essay let me do it on the bus" look to me. The live videos are not HD, for example, and the latest flag was that they recycled the (albeit unused) artwork from Omega Defender. For the latter, I totally understand the desire to up-cycle an existing resource, so as not to waste effort(s) and cut a corner or two. It's there, use it -- fine.
Another thing is that they are taking characters and ideas that already exist and recycling them. The "bad guys" are all from previous expansions. Instead of creating a new story they borrowed from everything prior. It just seems like it's lacking that "one hundred and ten percent" caliber of effort. You know what I mean?
I've noticed little things like this since Ben left. Is anyone else noticing these drop-in-quality breadcrumbs?
EDIT: My comments above are 90% about presentation 10% about recycled mechanics. I don't demand that nothing be old and everything be new. I do however think that quality is key.
They are trying to make a compelling story so they picked famous characters from the game itself rather than borrowing some other iconic characters from wow. Honestly I'm fine with the execution.
card art and story is fun to have but the lowest on my list. if the cards are good enough I don’t care if it’s various animal turds we have to look at. it’s the 5 year anniversary maybe that’s why they’re bringing back old characters, and repackaged in a different way I don’t see why that’s a major problem this expansion is still going to have lots of flavor
I just feel bad that warlock rogue priest and warrior probably is gonna have more or less the same stuff throughout the year. While hunters mages paladins might have more varied themes throughout the year.

Perhaps the villains can change their class into hunter mage paladin in the next expansion so rogue priest and co get to be the good guys instead?
Another thread without even knowing 100 cards that aren't released der... just chill until 9th april then we can all discuss if the expansion is good or not
It doesn't seem half cocked to me but the other part is we would need to see how polished the single player content is because a lot of the effort is shown there and not just in the cards printed. As for going back to old villains, personally I love the idea of it because there are some characters I miss and I would be happy seeing them make appearances from time to time, it really gives the entire game a felling of storyline progression and helps to build a little thematic universe. For instance seeing Elise make a return for Ungoro, awesome idea and I preferred that in lieu of making a new character card for that role. There are good guys I hope to see again and bad guys, I want to see Kazakus again, I want to see Reno Jackson again, I like seeing Dr.Boom and RAFAAM THE SUPREME ARCHAEOLOGIST. To me that has nothing to do with rather an expansion feels low effort or not, I'm looking more at the new mechanics and rather or not Blizzard is designing cards that allow for new and interesting strategies.
In that respect, I would rather point fingers at TGT and K&C for being lazily thrown together and not nearly as well designed as other expansions.
I have been wondering how much the loss of the outward-facing "community" people... due to the lay-offs... has affected the card reveals/timing/quality etc. Coordinating card reveals seems like a natural role for the community-based staff/resources.
This.
Yes, Ben Brode was the joyful face of Hearthstone, but there was somebody writing the scripts, doing the camera work, getting the card reveals organized and watching social media for problems.
Guys who crunch numbers for a card game and do other programming chores have only so many hours to put in -- and talents.
/also, there were plenty of bad cards and trends on Brode's watch.
Look Out. It's the Old Gods. Giant 10 mana build around win conditions!!
Watch out! Legendary Quests! Complete the quest for an amazing reward! One for each class!! Adapt or Die!!
Were we go! Odd and Even decks! Build your deck in a certain way to get a hero power upgrade or discount! Plus Rush and Echo!!!
here's rafaam again. he's gonna steal stuff with togwaggle and dr boom. ummm he turns your removal into Gruul.
At least tell us what they are stealing!!! Or reveal 1 paladin card!!
As I recall:
Old Gods: People were begging for a nerf of Yogg within the first three weeks. (It didn't happen until months later.)
Quests: People were begging for a nerf of the Rogue quest within the first week, and it didn't happen until months later.
Odd/Even: So annoying to literally everyone that they got Hall of Famed a year early. (I personally skipped the last two expansions because I was already sick to death of odd/even, and the death knights, and recruit.)
So if those are the kinds of designs you consider "inspired," I'm very happy to see lots and lots more uninspired, lazy cards.
The creative mind these days with Hearthstone is the guy who made Flintlocke, the insane dwarf engineer/warrior who thinks he's a hunter, WoW comic strip back in the day.
Bringing Flintlocke and the comic's misfits (the angry gnome mage woman, the always hungry undead detectives, the cowardly looting priest, the Tauren and his level-up outhouse) into this would be a breath of fresh air into Hearthstone, as well as appease the "Where's the Warcraft?" crowd.
/which has been silent, btw -- look, it's Dalaran! and a weak as all hell Khadgar, if it weren't for his effect ...

Brokenness and inspiration are different things. I do not doubt something will be broken in RoS.
I am just saying that Lackeys+Twinspell+Callbacks don't match up to 4 Old Gods in my eyes.
Nor Quests+Adapt+Dinos
Not even Odd/Even+Rush+Echo

I agree this whole story is fun its some event but not the expansion thread... wtf you have wow as a background make something interesting damn......

Nothing wrong with character development and plot creation. Would you call a tv show lazy for reusing the same characters.
