I had a break from Hearthstone just before boomsday expansion came out. Now i want to return but i basically don't have any cards of the last 2 expansions. I need an advice, do you think it is wise to craft something from boomsday and rastakhan or is it better to wait for the new expansion?
I will be honest with you, if I was a returning player, I would be only playing Arena. Cause there is no way to catch up with this kind of punishing rotation system. Arena is only part of the game which still keeps me going. I will keep playing Arena as long as I enjoy the game. I would suggest you to do the same. Do not spend any money on this game cause it is not worth it.
Id wait for the new expansion and see what the meta looks like after a few days.
New expansion will be viable for two whole years, so focus on that and craft any gaps you find.
Feel free to add me by my battle tag (if we’re same region) I’d be happy to deck share with you for a couple of games so you can see what you’ve been missing.
Get ready for the new expansion. Read up on the free packs they give away at launch and consider buying one of the pre-release bundles.
Then wait a couple weeks and once the meta starts to pan out a little start crafting.
Now is a good time to go through all of the older cards and decide which ones you are going to keep. You'll have a lot of dust by getting rid of the old clutter that never gets played. Someone just recently posted a guide on the cards to consider keeping from the old rotation.
I'm only going to keep a few cards, I don't really give a crap about Wild and wouldn't waste my time on it.
About Arena. Since you haven't played in a while I'd stick to doing quests and ranking. There are too many people out there who will destroy you and it's not worth the time and effort you put into it.
Best thing you can craft atm is (golden) copies of the cards moving to the hall of fame, so you have some extra dust come rotation, in the meantime you might as wel use and enjoy playing them ;)
Thanks for the tips guys! I'll surely buy the pre-order of the new expansion and i'll save the gold for it. I got the single player content of boomsday and rastakhan to finish so i got plenty to do until april.
i think u should buy 10-20 pack from last 2 expansion and u are good
most of the last 2 expansion cards are very bad compare to old ones if u have good colection maybe u can play wild with your old cards after the rotation
As previously stated, crafting golden copies of the rotating cards could be worth it, if you have the dust.
Another option, especially if you have hardly any dust or anything from the set, could be to open Witchwood packs. Opening a Genn or Baku will net you full dust when the next set comes out (then you can dust them after, if you don't play wild, for 100% profit). It's pretty unlikely that will happen, unless you're opening a LOT of packs, but there are quite a few Witchwood cards going to Hall of Fame. Chances are you would get a couple.
Of course, if you're yet to open ten packs from Boomsday and Rastakhan, you'll get your guaranteed legendary within 10. Still, I'd go with Witchwood.

Dead but dreaming
Wait a month for the new expansion...you will get the most play time with those cards
You’ll catch up ok.
