In regards to Rafaam being the same card as Golden Monkey:
Here's the difference: play a 3/5 for 4, wait till you draw a map that shuffles a taunt with that battlecry. Because DKs are rotating from frozen throne we are no longer faced with infinite value (you may say Hagatha and Boom says otherwise but Hagatha requires minions and small hand and will fill that up with crappy unplayable spells and the doctor is unreliable, making it not infinite and easily accessible), this rotation will hopefully create a new meta, and if you put this card that no longer requires jumping through hoops (rather playing warlock) it will be completely different than back in LoE.
This genius by blizzard and keep in mind LoE was a long time ago, so it's still fresh and fun!
If you're talking about the Golden Kobold, that's only from hand and only from Marin, more hoops
TL;DR different meta + 'same' effect= different card
Common man, we haven't seen anything yet. It is way too early to make any comment on upcoming expansion. Plus they will get rid of odd/even decks and most of the OTK bullshit decks. Just chill, take your time and wait until they release the whole set.
1) No new hero cards <- Personally, I'm not so upset about that. Although, I agree that a new hero card would have been cool, because hero cards are so cool. But I totally agree with Blizzard about the reason why they chose not to include a new one for this pack.
2) Lazy card design <- That's a bit too harsh to put it that way. I've seen only a few cards so far
3) and 4) also too early to express disappointment. There will be 75 bosses in 5 chapters, which PROBABLY means you can expect at least 15 bosses per wing? So I expect the adventure to be pretty lengthy. For 700 gold per wing, I personally am okay with that.

Petition for Jaina's boobs to return please. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Op says the fact "New expansion needs to be crazy good" but forgets that Witchwood was "crazy good" and shaped all the meta, even wild's meta and now it found its core cards in HOF and because of witchwood's power level, two complete expansions couldn't effect the meta, even basic - "BASIC" - cards have been nerfed, all the card's of 3 expansions' mana costs set according to Genn and Baku and he still wants Rise of Shadows to be "crazy good".
You've brought a paradox into existence. Congratulations.

Okay, maybe you understand the saltiness more with these thoughts
When Old Gods was announced, C'Thun was revealed. This was a new archetype with should suit (theoretically) every Class, and we now had Aggro, Midrange, Combo, Controll and C'thun Decks. Some of us were very excited about new deck building possibilities and trying these out.
When Un'guro was announced, Legendary Quests were revealed. Suddenly a totaly new playstyle with the Quests where introduced. Some of us were very excited about new deck building possibilities and trying these out. We also had the Elemental Tribe, which was also at least a little bit experimental.
When Witchwood was announced, Glenn and Baku were reveled. There was also a new playstyle, and again, some of us were very excited about new deck building possibilities.
And now, with the new Year, there is no new Thing, which compares to above Years. Yeah, its pretty early, but the Thread also reads "like now". I'm also very underwhelmed
OP are you on something? It's so creative and interesting. It's fresh and the rotations were good. It allows a clean slate in Standard and some additions to wild. It's back to the value game rather than mindless OTK and bullshit cheese decks. This expansion (if done right) will be incredible. As for no new hero cards, Blizzard explained this. They wanted to keep the spotlight on who the expansion is based on. (Hagatha, Dr. Boom, Rafaam, Togwaggle and Lazul).
And breathe..... it's just somebody's opinion, regardless of being right or wrong. Certainly not something worth getting upset over and ruining your day... ^_^
We have seen less than 10% of the cards. Also, the MOST exciting thing is that Team5 have started to show that they are willing to take the more drastic steps to keep the game balanced.
I’m sorry, but the kindest I can be is saying you sound extremely unreasonable. The cards revealed so far, while not the most imaginitive we’ve ever seen at least look fun and playable. And again, we’ve not seen one tenth of the set.
Apparently, I've "ignored" the OP, so I can't report his thread.
It's a duplicate, and doesn't contribute anything of interest to the community - folks are simply sniping back and forth without offering any insights more probative than "the new expansion sucks" and "you've only seen a handful of cards."
It would be helpful if someone reported the OP, rather than continue feeding the trolls on this thread - the mods can lock it, and issue warnings to the trolls.

yeah but i can't bare stupidity. This guy's post has tons of logical errors.
well, it can't ruin my day, tho.

I think I'll wait until I see at least 90% of the cards before deciding whether the expansion is going to be awful or not. The fact that there are no hero cards is a plus because they can be design nightmares that can warp the meta around them. I like the cards that I see so far.
I see lots of people accusing the new Rafaam for lazy card design because his effect is the same as the Golden Monkey's. But that was the whole point of the card! Rafaam is a callback card to LoE, he's supposed to copy a mechanic from that set, just like Forbidden Words is a callback to all the Forbidden cards from WotOG. Each villain will have one callback card to the expansion they originated from, as stated by Peter Whalen on his Twitter.

I agree that I don't believe it is lazy design to re-introduce a mechanic from a previous expansion in a different "wrapper" with different stats, etc. Real lazy design would have been to just bring Elise back from the other expansion as a carbon copy. But still: people love to complain about nothing....
I am very scared about this expansion, like now, I am not happy at all. I know that it is very early to say that, but it is not even so early because we know how the expansion will be set.
1) No new hero playable, and I am very disappointed about that because Hunter, Shaman and warrior, even with the rotation, have the hero cards, so why the other classes haven't one? I personally expected the hero card playable for my favourite classes. (source https://twitter.com/zxwwwwwww/status/1106258059402186752)
2) Lazy card design, Swampqueen Hagatha is another Kazakus more or less, Arch-Villain Rafaam is another Elise Starseeker more or less. The only new cool mechanics that we have are like now: Kalecgos and EVIL Miscreant. All the rest is very bored for me, even the twinspells and the upgrades each turn are something like yes, but ok not exciting.
3) Nothing really new in the game, we will even have to pay for the solo adventures. (After maybe 50€ or 80€ of pre-order)
4) This expansion will be the core of Hearthstone considering the huge rotation. Hearthstone in standard will be very very bored if this expansion will not be crazy good.
I love Hearthstone and I hope to not have to continue to play wild, because standard is bored, and fighting continuously against big Priests for other 4 months because the game will be too bored.
At the end, I expected much more from this expansion. I really hope to see something much better, something much more fresh, because otherwise, this expansion, will be another Boomsday or another Rastakhan.
Fell Free to dislike. But I think, that it is better for the game, when a consumer is disappointed and express his opinion than a consumer disappointed that leave the game without expressing the reasons.
I don't see why you should worry. Look at previous expansions. All polarized mindless aggression or OTK for fanboys like you. So don't worry, everything will be allright for your kind. Blizzard is taking care of you as target audience.

Wild is much more than just Big Priest spam unless you play Rank 5 and upwards, so I strongly suggest to try it.

We dont need forced archetypes. Sometime 1 card makes totally new archetype by itself. How could you be so whiny?
