In light of the recent announcement of Rise of Shadows, I'm going to resurface a question that I'm sure has been brought up plenty of times. I want to know the general opinions on players' two or three favorite expansions. Favorite can mean whatever it means to you, favorite new cards, new mechanics, etc. For me, it would be based on a mix of multiple aspects like new cards, the state of the meta, and which expansions delivered the most fun.
I would also like to know at what point in Hearthstone's life you started playing, as I'm sure this has a profound effect on many people's opinions. I'm curious to know if there's a correlation for other people as well. I myself started at the end of 2015 right when League of Explorers launched. My personal favorites are Gadgetzan, Ungoro, and Knights of the Frozen Throne, probably because the game was still relatively fresh but I had become skilled enough at that point to create my own personalized deck recipes and attain relatively high ladder ranks.
My favourite by far is old gods. Not only is it the set with BY FAR the most 10 drops printed (Fairly sure it's 5? might be 6). maybe i'm biased because it's when I started, but I loved the idea of corrupted older cards coming back, I loved the 4 old gods, the crazy yogg moments and over all the power level of the majority of the set was pretty well in check (aside from that cheeky 4 mana 7/7 introducing us to some shaman shenanigans)
For me I began at the tail end of league of explorers right when old gods was getting announced, I consider myself officially starting in old gods cause that's when I could actually reasonably and semi consistently win a game and I adored the idea of the old gods and I have been and always will be a control player so it was like the best time for me to actually start into, plus it didn't have too many degenerate decks however, my personal favorite expansion besides that however was like the first week or 2 of kobolds before cubelock became huge (and i'm a warlock main) and Rastakhan because Rastakhan's has had the most fair meta since old gods for me and most enjoyable especially since wild has been shifting up a bit (thank lord) I will say the first few weeks of gadgetzan were also pretty fun but then we had to deal with pirate warrior and razakus whereas Rastakhan's really for the most part has made up for the blunder that is the witchwood for me
However for an honorable mention that i will vote for I will say journey to un'goro when quest mage and quest rogue died down was pretty nice
