I would agree that Heartstone is rather expensive. The pre-order of 80 packs is $100 here, whereas a AAA game would cost about $50-70 here. The problem imo is that if you played since beta, maximing gold you don't really need to buy packs, but if you are just starting you can't remain competitive (or you can make a single tier 1 deck, but then you get bored fast or your tier 1 deck soon becomes tier 2-4).
I think for dropping $100 every 4 months, you should unlock the full set.
HS is a CCG, and the first C is pretty important - it doesn't really make a lot of sense to compare a collectable game to a non-collectable game, since the folks that play CCGs find about as much value in simply collecting as they do in actually playing the game.
As far as the price goes - even if you spend $100 three times each year, it's less than a dollar a day over the course of the year. If HS isn't your main game, or you don't think you'll be playing HS a year or two from now, it might not be worth it. Otherwise, I've met pack-a-day smokers at Fireside Gatherings who complain about the price of HS - I live in Toronto, where that other "hobby" costs about $13 a day. It's all a matter of perspective, I suppose . . .

It's a bit rough. I look at it like gambling. You might spend $100 and get absolute rubbish (or not quite what you want). I know I bought both packs with Boomsday and absolutely cleaned up. Did the same with Rastakhan and got barely any legends/epics. I then went and spent another 100 or so for bugger all extra quality cards (still got less stuff than what my launch Boomsday gave me). Buying in bulk does pump up your dust quite a lot, so there is that.
If you've got a decent job, just do a few hours O/T to cover it. I'm between gigs right now, so unsure if I'll be pre-ordering this time. As I said, look at it like gambling. I know I've got mates that pour a lot more than that down the pokies. Think of it as a similar thing. You could end up smiling and having a load of fun, or you might curse thinking it was an absolute waste of cash. In a worst case scenario, think of the dust.
No, that table is from Boomsday. I crowdsouced my own table for RR and made a guide on how to abuse the system. My table isn't up to date either, but it should be closer. I wasn't planning on doing the work (hosting the thread & updating the new prices) this expansion since I already purchased through Russia
But if people are interested and provide me with new data, I could try to keep the thread up to date and answer any questions. There's no reason the method won't work now. The only issue that could come up would be Blizzard adding a few more countries to the region lock list
I don't think this price chart is up to date. In Brazil the overall price for card packs got lower, perhaps changes have occurred in other countries too. On a side note, if you're a F2P and you're happy enough as it is I don't recommend to buy any bundle. It's really a downward spiral, at least it was for me – "Well, since I already spent money in this game I better not throw it away" etc...
