The best time in Hearthstone is coming - card reveals and theorycrafting period! And so far nothing about the new expansion was disappointing.
Teasers of solo adventure hyped things up. Third teaser was a bit underwhelming but Rafaam reveal "leaks" carried everything solo. This "villains teaming up" theme gives a pleasant heist feeling comparable with GTA V and Payday 2 for me. And everything is most likely going to happen in Dalaran, one of my favourite locations in WoW.
The art style of these teasers is also satisfying. I mean just look at Rafaam, community is going to riot if this Dalaran cardback doesn't make it in game.
They did a really good job with the expansion tralier, I especially like the last frame and the song as usual. The name of the expansion feels really fitting with the theme
In the announcement video Dave Kosak did so much better than in Boomsday and Rastakhan Rumble videos. "Is it good against hunter?" line made me chuckle a little bit :D
New cards and mechanics are very interesting. Also it seems that they're going with value/greed approach with them but not on infinite scale like the DKs and I really appreciate it.
Just look at these three. Pure value and fun while actually being good cards. Russian-speaking community will especially appreciate Chef Nomi's translation :D
New Twinspell keyword also pushes the value game forward. It basically means that you can put 4 copies of a spell occupiying only 2 deckslots. Pure greed, exquisite.. Also its nice that they aren't done with the treant theme for druid.
Lackeys are a cool concept, just like potions in MSoG. Some people are saying EVIL Miscreant is a bad card, however I think quite the opposite. 1/5 is 2 mana body and 2 lackeys that cost only 1 mana with strong effects for their costs pushes both tempo and value for rogue (combo makes it a bit clunky though)
Its nice that they are bringing back the "forbidden" mechanic. Priest can finally remove 4 attack minions. Also 2 mana kill Mosh'Ogg Enforcer or 0 mana kill Flametongue Totem is always appreciated. And I have to say that the art is intimidating and I like it.
An interesting replacement for Volcano after the rotation. Some think its op because if you mulligan for this card, then it's 5 dmg AOE for 5 mana on turn 5, however it is a terrible topdeck later in the game. We'll see how it goes, I'm really looking forward to similar mechanics. Someone even said that it was confirmed that there is no upper limit for the upgrades, correct me if I'm wrong.
Finally the Spellward Jeweler, simple defensive tech-card with premium stats that isn't broken in any way. Its always nice to see these in Hearthstone. Can't wait for to see a video on Trolden where priests try to heal themselves after playing this card :D I also love that they keep their art style with gnome cards
Some classes will be represented by the villains (Maybe the other 4 will be represented by heroes?? Maybe even in the next espansion???)
Priest - Madame Lazul (The Fortune Teller)
Rogue - Togwaggle
Shaman - Hagatha
Warlock - Rafaam
Warrior - Dr. Boom
That's what I liked about MSoG and RR, every class belongs to a certain group. This brings so much flavour and it's great that they are keeping this element in the Rise of Shadows.
I really wish Ben Brode was still in Team 5 to make the reveals million times better, but overall I see a lot of improvement in the start of the new year, I hope they keep that up.
Edit: Wow, a potential shuffle 30 copies of a card in your deck. This is stupid and amazing!
Did I mention that shaman is my favourite class? Well that's why I'm so excited about the new legendary and we finally get to choose the targets. Unfortunately we lose the best shaman spells, but that's why Team 5 will print some new ones. Its also a very fresh concept which is nice
I think Rafaam look a bit too cool for a warlock legend.
I'd say he's on Lord Godfrey coolness levels, which is great :D
I rather warlock get another godfrey as their mascot legendary, I dono why I guess Rafaam being part thief and looking like 1 makes him roguelike.
Got your point there - Though he's always leaned towards the idea of warlock with his dark presence. Even was given his own warlock card back in LoE which was Curse of Rafaam. Plus let's not forget that he only steals for the most power (I like your deck. I think I will take it!). One thing I can say is they did his battlecry pretty well. Brings back the memories of Elise Starseeker - But with no complex hunt for the Map to the Golden Monkey. Now I understand that it may not be the best card for Warlock, but that's to judge for later. What I hope for in this expansion's warlock? I hope that they take the chance to combine Rafaam's greedy nature - And one of the most interesting warlock mechanics (Card burning). We've rarely seen the power to STEAL cards from opponent's decks. I think we need Rafaam's help to set this goal.
Cannot wait for this. Loving the cards revealed so far. Greed is good! But they’re not OP either which is really promising.
The new mechanics look decent and it feels like they’re trying to tee up big, late game turns that can swing the match but aren’t insta-wins like DKs - that can only be a good thing.
Overall, it’s all terribly exciting and I’ll definitely be pre-purchasing one of the offers.
Yesterday i watched some streamers/pros talking about the cards , and most said the Shaman spell is meh, because well... it’s Shaman.
But even though I don’t agree with everything Gaara is saying, he is right in one thing. And that’s the fact that with the next rotation we probably never had such a low overall powerlevel since Vanilla Hearthstone. And now imagine this Vanilla Hearthstone with nerfed aggro cards... And now imagine a class gets a DeathKnight/Herocard! Even if she is much weaker than Guhldan or Jaina, Hagatha can still generate a ton of cards or of thin air.
If there aren’t many combo decks around, i could easily see Hagatha overshadowing other new Control cards.

Agreed. Shaman will rule after rotations, all of their legendaries from Year of the Raven are insane except the spell.

Cards so far are looking.. decent i suppose. It is definitely not enough to tell me anything about how the game will look. But atleast the flavor is nice. I also like the villain thing and hope for good 'heroes' on the other side (Vereesa Windrunner for Hunter would be my guess).
So, yeah, I'll be 'hyped' about new cards, theorycrafting, deck brewing and getting surprised/stomped by new creative decks. Only on new releases i play alot, because it's the only time where people have to use their creativity (if they didn't copy the newest hottest theorycraft or one of the old working decks). But this phase ends way too early sadly. I'll be gone after 2-3 weeks probably and then only come back sometimes to play my favorite decks I build in the first weeks, like I do since I switched to Free to Play in WotG. Oh and I guess for the PvE experience. I hope they do a good job on it, especially because it's a paid thing.
(I also have to get lucky that the only class I play right now gets interesting cards, but that's a whole different topic)

I like it so far, I didn't pre-order last expansion (couldn't afford it) but I'll probably pre-order this one!
I earn free Hearthstone packs with swagbucks! https://www.swagbucks.com/refer/Smartmoney
I've never pre-ordered expansions before, but this one really makes me want to do it!

Hmm, yes, good point actually

Interested in the option to get Kalecgos from Dragon Roar, hope Warrior will get some good new spells.
Overall looks good so far!
It's certainly looking pretty cool to me. We have seen only 8 cards but they give me a good feeling about the rest of the set. Nice post!
Cannot wait for this. Loving the cards revealed so far. Greed is good! But they’re not OP either which is really promising.

There is only my justice now
Thanks! Yeah, I've got a good feeling about this one as well. I hope this turns out even better than Un'Goro did 2 years ago
I am excited but also concerned.

I still think Warrior should get alternate Hogger, any villain with a dr. in their name sounds disneylike to me.
Can you people stop attacking others just because they have different opinions? Thank you.
Don't you disrespect me, little man! Don't you derogate or deride! You're in my world now - not your world.
And I got bombs on the other side!
Well it convinced me to return to the game once the expansions launches, but excited?Nah not at all. I am a bit optimistic this time however.
So you want only answers that please you...mkay
Sorry, i couldn't restrained myself. XD
Yoink on those images lol.
Artwork is so so good this time around. Complements to the artists.
Also that Arch-Villain Rafaam tho.
Edit: No golden animation yet clearly lol
