If you look at it from a positive perspective, Roger proved he doesn't need to cheat to win. I just wished the cast or someone would have acknowledge him as cheater during the stream. They could have even made it a story of Roger redeeming himself.
I understand people that think that the punishment that he and his team got for cheating wasn't enough. But what is done is done, he served his time and now is a regular HS pro like Bunny, bloodyface or Ike. Also, he couldn't stream snipe during a HCT tournament so there wasn't really a lot of ways he could have cheated his way to victory.

Yeah I somewhat agree, but IMO he should not have been able to play in tournaments anyway after cheating. I believe people can change but this is supposed to be a serious tournament, cheating here is not like cheating in a board game with friends.
Is that sort of hostility really warranted here? Does the rule "once a cheater, always untrustworthy" apply in cardgames?
In athletics, you could say that whoever used doping once should not participate in future contests because controls might be bypassed, and whatever unfair advantage they once gained might give them an advantage even years later.
Streamsniping and wintrading is cheating and a despicable behaviour, but you can't do that in tournaments, and it doesn't give you an advantage in tournament situations (rather the opposite). At best, it increases your chances to be invited to tournaments, since your ladder performance would improve, but you'd assume that whoever only cheated his way into a tournament should not get very far.
I think it is at least worth an actual discussion whether these sorts of cheating in Hearthstone should disqualify you from participating in a tournament. But you can't really say he does not deserve the victory, since he won the games without any unfair advantage and in an environment where he could not have cheated.
I don't mean to defend the guy. I don't even like him. I can understand that people aren't exactly happy about this. But I think the reactions go a little far, and there needs to be more of a discussion than just yelling "cheater!".
If HS wants to have credibility as an "esport" then Blizzard have to punish flagrant cheats, like Roger. He should have received a multi-year ban, in my opinion. AFAIK HGG was not his first cheating offence, he was also caught win-trading. A ban would send a strong message that cheating is not acceptable.
@Dunsoct the hostility comes from Blizzard taking almost no action against Roger, even when he was caught red handed. If they had given him a fair punishment, he could serve his time and then move on. The fact that he basically got away with it makes people angry, justifiably in my opinion.
Personally I watched the tournament, so I'm not affected. However, revealing titles like this one are not necessary and can easily be avoided. It would take a very small amount of effort to avoid potentially spoiling the results for many people. Yes, spoilers can be difficult to avoid but they can also in some cases easily be prevented.
PS: Not intending to come off as hostile here, just my take on it.

I agree with you that there should be a discussion about stuff like this. I never said he played bad, I just think cheaters should not be able to participate after being caught. Letting everyone "redeem" themselves gives the impression that everyone can cheat until they're caught once, after that it's ok unless they do it again.

Yeah I admit it's my bad, to be honest I didn't think about it because I was pretty disappointed about the whole thing.
To be fair, it was Roger's teammate, Shaxy, who said they didn't have MC Tech and Roger literally asked how he knew. The curious thing is that none of them must have realized they cheated cause they themselves uploaded the video with their team com audio track. They should have obviously known, and disqualifying them then was the right thing to do, but if Roger didn't even know about it until he literally got the information there's not really much he can do, and I have a hard time seeing why he shouldn't be able to compete on his own.

Why exactly is he allowed to play in tournaments anyway?
The answer will be painful. I'll edit my post later.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
I have to add I'm also very salty because he beat the guy I voted for lol
I hope blizzard gets shit on for letting this happen.
Also - it was so awkward.
It was like watching fate unfold before my eyes. His draws were so insanely good, all the time, every time.
Both bunnyhoppor and roger earned 4 packs for people who voted for them, so the last game didn't really matter.
Nice, I never knew how the rewards work, I voted for Bunny as soon as the tourney was announced

fucking spoilers dude.

Sorry, but to be fair there really is no way to avoid news like this. If it wasn't me, somebody else would have spoiled it 100%.

The thing is he played really well. His game plans and deck picks turned out to be superior. Luck? Not luckier than others.

Any way to edit the thread name because of spoilers? I'm on my phone and I can't seem to find anything, appreciate any help.
