Hey guys, please help me to figure out if my math is corect or not. Thanks!!
example:
i own a non-golden baku, what means i get a HOF refund of +1600 dust right?
now i craft a golden baku (-3200 dust). what means that i have now a golden and a non-golden baku! from here i get +3200 dust refund for the HOF rotation because i own the golden baku an refund will be for the best version of a card you own.
i have payed -3200 dust for the golden baku and get back +3200 dust for this one for the HOF rotation.
math: (-3200 dust) + (+3200 dust) = 0 dust (at this point you dont have a profit)
but the key thing is that you get a refund for the HOF cards & you can keep all the cards.
now i own a golden and a non-golden baku. after the HOF rotation i will keep the non-golden baku and disenchant the golden baku for 1600 dust.
conclusion: (payed -3200 dust) + (HOF refund +3200) = 0 dust + (disenchant +1600 dust) = a profit of 1600 dust and still have a non-golden baku.
This is because you get 1/2 of the regular dust you´ve payed for a golden legendary ( craft -3200 dust & cisenchant +1600 dust)
For all other type of cards you only get back 1/4 of the regular dust you´ve payed for
example for 1/4 refund cards:
i own 2x non-golden gloom stag (epic card) = hall of fame refund +800dust
i craft 2x golden gloom stag (-1600 dust + -1600 dust) = -3200 dust
now i get the hall of fame refund for 2x golden gloom stag = hall of fame refund +3200 dust
math: (-3200 dust) + (+3200 dust) = 0 dust (at this point you dont have a profit)
now i can disenchant my 2x golden gloom stag for regular dust refund (+400 dust + +400 dust = +800 dust)
i have an profit of +800 dust an still own the 2x non-golden gloom stags
Golden version = -3200 crafting cost + 3200 HoF refund +1600 Golden Baku dust return = 1600 dust profit.
What this person said. You are basically going through all of that work just to net the same amount of dust as if you had taken no action. The only scenario that does net a positive (of 10 dust per card) is crafting golden commons that are going to HoF.
I think the only rarity that goves you a higher net gain for goldens is Common.
Common regular craft is 40 while Common gold disenchant is 50.
So as stated above, the work to get golds is only worth it if you intend to keep the golden copies and DE regulars. Then you net a smaller dust amount but upgrade your card to gold.
Crafting golden missing cards only matters if you are going to be dusting them, dont plan on playing wild in the future, and/or care about golden cards. Still getting free cards is worth crafting them and you can always dust them later if your plans change.
So basically if you don't care for the golden cards and you don't have them already, it makes sense to craft the golden cards. Then to get the dust disenchant all golden right after to profit.
For example I own a normal of each legend so i'll craft them both golden then get the refund(6400 dust) then disenchant both for 1600 each and keep the non golden copies. Do the same with the others if you don't care for the golden versions and keep the normal versions if you want to play them in wild.
So you would profit 3200 for 2 legends, 1600 for 4 epics, 600 for 6 rares, 200 for 4 commons if you have the dust to spare to craft all that.
Actually you profit zero, the 1600 dust "profit" is just the 1600 you would have received for your previously owned non-golden copy anyway.
As has been said many times before (including in this thread) the only profit to be made from crafting golden copies of cards you already own is with golden commons.
For example I don't own a normal version of the Glitter Moth, so I would craft 2 goldens at 3200 dust and get the refund. Then since I don't care to ever play that card I would disenchant the 2 golden for an extra 400 each.
Correct. If you don't own the card at all, crafting the golden version is the best bet. It will effectively be free, and then you'll either have the golden version to play with or you can disenchant it for more dust.
If you do NOT own the card at all, craft a golden card. When HoF ends you have the choice of either having a free golden card in Wild or you can dust it for dust value of the original card.
If you DO own the regular card, do nothing, let it HoF then keep or dust it.
ONE EXcEPTION!!!! If it's a common card (cat and Naturalize) then ALwAYS craft so you have two goldens, even if you have 2 normal cards. You WILL get 10 free dust for doing it per card.

You don't earn more dust for crafting a golden copy than if you just kept the regular version you already own.
Regular version = 0 crafting cost +1600 HoF refund = 1600 dust profit.
Golden version = -3200 crafting cost + 3200 HoF refund +1600 Golden Baku dust return = 1600 dust profit.

If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
Anyone want to confirm this method working?
Actually you profit zero, the 1600 dust "profit" is just the 1600 you would have received for your previously owned non-golden copy anyway.
As has been said many times before (including in this thread) the only profit to be made from crafting golden copies of cards you already own is with golden commons.
Yeah that makes sense.
How about if I don't own a version of the epics?
For example I don't own a normal version of the Glitter Moth, so I would craft 2 goldens at 3200 dust and get the refund. Then since I don't care to ever play that card I would disenchant the 2 golden for an extra 400 each.
Correct. If you don't own the card at all, crafting the golden version is the best bet. It will effectively be free, and then you'll either have the golden version to play with or you can disenchant it for more dust.
To sum up for folks:
If you do NOT own the card at all, craft a golden card. When HoF ends you have the choice of either having a free golden card in Wild or you can dust it for dust value of the original card.
If you DO own the regular card, do nothing, let it HoF then keep or dust it.
ONE EXcEPTION!!!! If it's a common card (cat and Naturalize) then ALwAYS craft so you have two goldens, even if you have 2 normal cards. You WILL get 10 free dust for doing it per card.
One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
It is all explained very well here.
