Could someone explain about making a deck for standard. I just started and iam confused on what deck build I can afford with the next rotation. I thought it was today but guess it was only Hos. If I spend the only 3.7k dust I have. I hoping it wont bite me in the butt next month. Any help will be appreciated. Thankyou in advance.
Hold your horses fella. Do Nothing until the next set has released. If you've only just started then you'll want to wait, after the latest round of Hall Of Fame Rotations you might want to consider seeing if you have cards that can be dusted for thier full value.
Don't craft anything now because there is only one month or so to go until the game is effectively gutted and starts fresh. And I personally cannot wait.
Experiment with the basic decks and figure out what class you like, play a LOT of games with it before you craft anything. After you’re sure you like a class, if you’re free to play, look up legendary crafting guides and craft the most versatile cards for that class. My recommendation is to stick to crafting classic legendaries, since those will always be in play, unless they get moved to y’all of fame, then you’ll get a full refund. GGHF

My first and only advice to you - stop playing this game. You will never catch up. Just play some other game instead. You will save a lot of your time and nerves. If you want to play this game, be ready to wait an eternity until you will be able to craft something useful and be sure they will nerf it in a week and you won't get your dust refund.

Dont listen to her/him. Im f2p and play hs often for half a year and i have 2-3 meta decks and many homebrews. I can reach rank 5 minimum which 505 dust guaranteed every month and questing to next expac bring some extra resource. Totally okay to play hs casually. If u really want to spend some dust and cant wait just make ziliax. Super safe. Edwin too if u like Rogue.
Btw there are many guides online how to homebrew effectively. I checked some of those and helped to keep in performance with my collection and i can forget copypaste netdeck ing.
Use your dust to craft the cards that are moving to the hall of fame until you have 2 copies of each (except for baku and genn, you only want 1 copy of those). I won't go into details as you will find threads that cover that topic in depth but I'll give an example:
Assuming you currently have no copies of Glitter Moth in your collection. If you craft one of them now (which costs 400 dust) you will get 400 dust back at the rotation of the card to the Hall of Fame and you can disenchant the card for 100 dust. What you are doing effectively is lending 400 dust for a guaranteed 500 dust refund after the rotation and meanwhile you can play the card.
Considering this my crafting advice (if you don't already own a copy of them) is crafting Baku the Mooneater and/or Genn Greymane as they open up entire archetypes for basically all of the classes. Even with a small collection you could probably fill in most of the slots with different cards and still have a semi-viable deck to play until the HoF-Rotation.
After the rotation either
- craft Whizbang the Wonderful. I just love the card. for 1600dust you can try out all the deck recipes for all 9 classes at random. He's fun to play and let's newer players try out a bunch of different decks and strategies without having to craft all the cards.
- or wait 2-3 weeks for other people to find viable decks and craft one complete deck. I would not advise using your dust on "core legendaries" or something like that but instead go for one affordable tier 1/tier 2 deck you can effectively learn the game with and have some success.
Keep in mind that this is only a personal opinion and it all this depends on your personal preference so if you just wanna get started right away feel free to craft whatever cards/decks look fun to you.

I completely agree with crafting at least Baku... I mean, odd paladin is a tier 1 deck at the moment and I think the basic deck has Baku as it’s only legendary... the rest are all super cheap cards, it’s like that with odd rogue too. In my experience genn(even decks) tend to be a tiny bit more expensive, but he’s deff worth it too... those two would be my top crafts if I was F2P... I’m willing to bet money that there will always be an even or odd deck at least tier 1
What you can do though while waiting is looking for decks on this website that match your current dust amount + card collection, so you can see what kind of deck you can actually afford and try to figure out cheap archetypes
I dont plan on f2p forever i dont mind spending a few bucks once in awhile. Not every month. I have played alittle before just never got that far though. I dont plan spending a crap ton though. Just want to use dust effectively without spending the amount of money I spent on mtg years ago.
Same here, i dont mind too spending real money too sometimes, i just want to Say that f2p can effective too. And agree that if u want to craft now just craft. For example i made mechathun few weeks ago, cause i like the archetype and totally worth it. But i consider that making bigger improvement on my classic set. Thats why i think edwin, Alex, ysera are always a good choice.

OP please read the post linked it my signature. It may save you a lot of headaches.
If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
