unless you're an arena player, there is literally no point in playing hearthstone anymore.
single player is boring... and ladder is even more boring. like, why would you play ladder?
i have fun playing arena. but besides that, Hearthstone is boring af.
You might want to look up the word "literally" before making point. It's a card game, people don't play card games for rewards. That is how your mind works because you are on the Blizzard incentive wheel. Ladder just has you test the meta decks.
It's because Hearthstone hasn't done anything with the game in the past 4 years. No new gamemodes will be the death of Hearthstone. There needs to be more new gamemodes and new ladder modes to keep the game fresh and interesting in between expansions.
The "Discover Mechanic" is one of the most skilled parts of the game. One has to pick a card that will help them either now or later. I could agree with your other picks especially odd/even as it really does make the game boring in some ways. I think Mage is the only one that makes sense in this meta. The Mage hero power needed an upgrade because the cards got more powerful.
Players : twitch streamers : playerbase? Also there are more content creators in the world aside from the narrow, more publisiced names you mentioned; that certainly doesn't equate any judgement on playerbase, unless you have some data you're not revealing.
Is too late now. This game is not going to survive until next set of cards.
Blizzard deserve what is happen right now. It is almost bankrupt.
Every since the announces of the past Blizz Con is a big mistake after big mistake after big mistake.
WoW is still Blizzard's cash cow. Even with all of the trolls & doomsayers bemoaning that the game is always "dying" it still consistently manages to sustain players in the millions. Saying that Blizzard is almost bankrupt when they still have a game with millions of playing paying for subs or buying tokens earned by other people paying for subs is not only naive but laughable.
Blizzard is going to be around for a number of years still, even with the atrocious business management of Activision thinking that by sacrificing player community and communication in exchange for more money that it will help their revenue in the long run.
On a side note, I think people are missing the glaring trend that games like WoW or Hearthstone always have had dips in active players when content gets old. Though I'm not speaking for myself here not everyone has a high attention span and may get bored easily if they don't have something shiny every month. However, when shines are new and come back subs / twitch viewership rises for a period of time, then falls, then rises with new shines, then falls. I'm not sure how people don't understand this.
Trump has always played other games, a week of DotA Auto Chess doesn't mean he quit. Also, Kibler still plays HS daily? And has never really taken a break?
Yes, Hearthstone saw a decline in back half of 2018, but where is all this doomsaying coming from lol. They are by far the largest digital card game and are nowhere near dying. It's funny how people always bring up these posts during the typical lull between expansions. If Hearthstone is still below rank #20 on twitch the month after the rotation then maybe be a tiny bit concerned. If they post a huge loss after their quarterly reports then feel a bit more concerned. But really, who are you concerned for? Blizzard profits? If the game is still bringing new content why does everyone care so much??
Well, let's imagine for a minute there is in fact a problem. I think an easy way to deal with that is more frequent, smaller expansions. People will play around with average, random cards as long as they are new. I remember when everyone was trying to play volcanosaur and that guy who spawns the chest, just because they released before the expansion. I remember it was actually quite fun. A lot of cards never see play because they overshadowed by other cards, but if they had smaller releases every month or two, people would play around with the individual cards more, experience more of a sense of discovery and excitement.

They just posted their biggest profit year ever, mate.
I don't like a lot of their business practices either but let's not lapse into total delusion here.
didn't stop them from firing over 800 people tho.
Blizzard fired 600 people back in 2012 too just before launching some of their most successful games ever. Back then Blizzard and gaming industry had a lot less negative press surrounding it.
deservingly so, they didn't do a lot to retain their player base. just shit out expansions that are lacklaster to say the least and hope players gobble it up. there's not much to keep anybody interested, really
I couldn t agree more with the post..i m a beta player and i miss only some epics from the whole collection.trully a waste of time and effort..the last couple of months i come only for the quests and a last hope.Druid nerf was disappointing,i only meet (as i like to call them) Fortnite mentality kids net decking me all the time with the most annoying aggro decks ever.there s No such thing as “home brewed deck” anymore,no creativity,no fun.feels like blzrd don’t listen to their community.shame shame shame
activision and changing business model, ahahahahaha
frankly, there aren't close to enough cards to keep the game fresh for a substantial amount of time. basically we had the same shit for an entire year and every expansion gets figured out in 2-3 weeks maximum. after that it's the same old stale game it's always been for months until something new comes out. also the rotation is very nice to change things up but that's just because it's set up that way (not really a compliment either)
(sidenote: really pissed that artifact failed absolutely massively, i was hoping it would give blizzard some ideas. well, that's out of the question now....)
been playing HS for 2 years++ and Eternal for only 4 months (and hit Master with just only 1 budget deck). HS is expensive for f2p and require lots of grinding. the mode is also too few. what i suggest is expand different mode in both versus and solo adventure. i like old adventure where you can have some exclusive cards that is not available on pack. arena also can be expanded. the User interface is also outdated

How are they almost bankrupt if they had their best quarterly earnings ever???
didn't stop them from firing over 800 people tho.

If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

Because it is the same with every expansion all over again. Damn boring.

Everyone has always got assumptions on how people are leaving but does anyone give info/stats on new players??????
@ creator, in other news: grass is green

They need to change their business model, entirely.
After 4 years, you can't keep going with 3 releases per year, with minimal design effort in each one...

I was in charge!! - Patches the Pirate
Just wait for the rotation, this will bring the healing rain for HS. I'm 100% sure some of the streamers will return after that.
