They aren't getting nerfed this close to rotation and after 2 nerfs already this cycle, nerds. If they get nerfed, it will be with an eye towards Wild, where they will be uncontrollable.
How to fuck genn and baku up, keeping them some how alive: (i did't think of all the possible overpowered combinations, maybe it will be even worse.)
Genn: bla bla... turn you hero power in another basic hero power. It cost 1
Baku: bla bla... turn your hero power in another upgraded hero power
this is the best nerf suggestion I have seen for these two disgusting cards.
Warlock upgraded hero power: draw a card.
I really don't want games determined by whether people can highroll THAT hero power. Or Hunter's. That's what people did with Finley and that was just swapping hero powers with no upgrades.
One good thing that happened throughout the years was the downplaying of RNG. It's nowhere NEAR as close as the mess from knife juggler and Dr. Boom. We don't need to go back to that, and I'm afraid it'll still be strong enough for people to be willing to suffer to it just for the highrolls.

i got your point, but having 1/8 chance doesnt' allow you to build any overpowered thing easily. I can see draw a card for free is a huge deal, but i can't see any strong odd warlock so far. You will have to build a strong even or odd deck and consider the hero power just as an upgrade and not the key condition to build the deck around.
Finley never been a problem for what I remember, and if it wasn't included in the adventure i doubt lot of people would spend dust for him.

I think it's more likely that cards like Shield Slam or Brawl or SI:7 Agent get nerfed or rotated out. Not only because Team5 hates Classic and takes any excuse to remove another few good cards, but also because the issue with Genn and Baku lies in the cards that work too well with them.
Genn and Baku provide good effects for severe limitations in your deck-building. They are only good if the cards you can use with them give you a solid deck strategy and ideally some synergy with the improved hero power. If the synergy is not good enough you won't play that deck.
The only hero power that I think is "too good", is Paladin's Odd effect, because it requires a very specific counter to deal with the continuous swarm of 1/1s. Arguably, maybe Warrior too, because many decks don't have the resources to go against that kind of consistent HP gain that isn't capped like Priest's.
Every other effect requires plenty of support to even be attractive. You don't play Odd Mage or Even Shaman because "wow, the hero power is so good", but because there are enough cards that just happen to work pretty well despite the limitations and even reward you for using that button. When there are too many cards that do just that, you arrive at a point where playing an even/odd deck is attractive, and when there are too many of those, the game looks boring. And if the developers outright plan to make these decks better, it's not "too little design space" but their own stupidity that causes this mess.
When they release Daring Fire-Eater, Pyromaniac and Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk, they should know very well that this will make an Odd Mage deck much better. Same goes for cards like Spirit of the Raptor and Gonk, the Raptor which also obviously work much better with a stronger hero power. Odd Druid just sucks right now and doesn't have the extremly powerful tools like other classes do, but this might change soon.
At least in Standard, it's not impossible to avoid obvious synergies and too well working decks with a bit of attention. But if next expansion, Warrior gets another odd-costed removal effect, Paladin gets another odd-costed effect that works really well with a full board (of Silver Hands) or summoning loads of minions, Warlock gets another even-costed card that works really well with a large hand size, or Rogue gets an odd-costed powerful weapon buff/damaging effect, it's intentional power creep that only sets the stage for another nerf.
As for Wild, it's supposed to be the mode with a high power level. And even there, I don't think it will be all Genn and Baku for all eternity. Sure, over time it's more likely to get enough cards for a good Genn/Baku deck, but it's just as likely you get enough synergies around a theme that you'd rather play to its fullest effect instead. Big Priest or Reno Lock are good examples for decks that have benefits worth more than just a better hero power.
Even Shaman was already not great and then they nerfed Flametongue totem, the only thing holding the deck together.
Yes, Even Paladin is a tier 1 deck, but look at everything rotating out of it.
Hydrologist, Corpsetaker, Spikeridged Steed, Tarim, Val'anyr, Dinosize, Drygulch Jailor, Level Up, Crystal Lion, Lightforged Stegodon (Not that the whole Silver Hand package actually gets run, but still, they'd pretty much HAVE to resort to this stuff if these were all Witchwood cards) Lich King, Saronite... you get the picture. The entire foundation of the deck and any other good option you might have to run in it all crumbles on rotation.
And Even Paladin and Even Shaman are the only even decks that ever saw any real play. Even Rogue is kind of a thing, but it's really not... great.
And I forgot about Evenlock, but that's a deck that's losing it's entire core, too. Reaver, Amethyst Spellstone, Beetle, Brewer, Bonemare, Lich King, Vulgar Homonculus, Defile, and perhaps more importantly, Gul'dan, it's all gone. The only thing that deck has left is mountain giant hero power cheese. And that isn't worth building a whole deck around, as powerful as those turn 3 giants can be.
Leave Genn alone and focus on Baku, honestly. The rotation is going to slaughter Even decks all by itself.
are you standard prick not understanding the issue? A LOT OF THE META DECKS IN WILD ARE EVEN OR ODD, AND THAT IS A HUGE PROBLEM!!!! standard isnt the only format UGHHH
Daring Fire Eater is such stupidass shit. Really got some dumbasses that dont actually play any games to understand anything about competitive balance designing this game. Starting off with ability to ping all early game away is cancer enough. That crap only cost 1 at that FFS.

so you need insight why decks in a CARD game are build around a hero power that ISN‘T a CARD are a problem?
you have to understand that cards from the next 4 (!!!) expansions don‘t matter if they don‘t either fit genn/baku decks or are insanely overpowered.
it limits card design in horrible way. if you‘d care more about having fun than getting stars, you would understand.
taking genn and baku out of the game really is the only solution for this problem. or put them in the hall of fame cause i dont care about wild #selfish

Hero powers are a part of the game and building decks around them isn't problematic. More to the point, Genn/Baku decks are still not winning any games without playing cards.
If every single viable deck was a Genn/Baku deck then this might be a consideration, but its simply not the case. There are plenty of viable decks that don't use either the Odd or Even Mechanic. In the current standard tier list across all ranks there are 8 decks in tier 1 and 4 are either Odd or Even. That seems completely fine.
Guilty. I'm competitive by nature and for me the fun in games like hearthstone is in optimising strategies and game play. Blizzard gives me the tools and I'm here to figure out which ones to use and how to use them.
I'm not saying that Baku is completely fine in its current state, I'll concede that "The Silver Hand" and "Tank Up" are a little overtuned (doubling the value of the hero power from the start of the game is doing too much work in these cases), but these can be amended easily enough without deleting the card. Genn on the other hand just seems completely fair to be honest. None of the hero powers are too strong to cost 1 mana with the limitation of even-cost cards only. The only one that looks a little broken in theory is Warlock but in practice it has been proven to be a pretty solid ~50% win rate deck that isn't causing problems for anyone.
The best way for Blizzard to fix Genn and Baku is to send them to Hall of Fame. Wild will not be affected as there is way more broken stuff out there. And standard will be cured. No odd/even bs, no DKs, no cubes. It's going to be amazing.
" are you standard prick not understanding the issue? A LOT OF THE META DECKS IN WILD ARE EVEN OR ODD, AND THAT IS A HUGE PROBLEM!!!! standard isnt the only format UGHHH"
Ah yes, silly me. In a format where cards like Jades, Flamewaker, Sludge Belcher, Shredder, and so on and so forth exist, Even Paladin stands far and beyond as the most viable archetype of them all.
Yeah, you... you don't play wild. So don't make a jackass out of yourself and proclaim yourself as the champion of wild players who can't beat all these terrible Genn decks running around, mkay?
"None of the hero powers are too strong to cost 1 mana with the limitation of even-cost cards only. The only one that looks a little broken in theory is Warlock but in practice it has been proven to be a pretty solid ~50% win rate deck that isn't causing problems for anyone."
'Swhy I don't understand why Genn always gets lumped in with these conversations about Baku: Just about the only thing Genn enables that's truly DEVASTATING is a super early Mountain Giant in Evenlock. And that's only if you draw it. The other even decks are really just for token purposes, and you're only making small tokens for one mana, and they're nothing most other hero powers can't swat away most of the time as long as you kill them before they get a buff like Kings or Dire Wolf Alpha or whatever.
Odd Paladin and Odd Warrior look to be very strong decks in new meta (though the Odd Paladin deck seems like it will slow down significantly, which I'm happy with just knowing that) and while I still wouldn't do any nerfs without seeing how they function in it, I do agree there's merit to looking into it.
90% of the stuff that makes most of the Even decks work is rotating out of standard and is too weak to compete in all the rubbish that goes on in Wild.
And the even decks that ARE good in Wild? They sure don't look like they're good because of Genn, they look good because cards like Thing from Below exist.
Tell me please, if there is at least one person (mainly of those crying that baku and genn are OP and they should be nerfed or even killed) who wanted Reno Jackson or C'Thun (during his best days, when he used to appear in tier 2 or even tier 1, as I remember), to get nerfed? There are some cards, that are meant to be impactful or powerful just because they are build-arounds and such cards can't be nerfed without being killed

I'm sure pretty much every good card in Hearthstone's history has made someone call for a nerf, regardless of how good the card actually was and for how long. I'm too lazy to look, but I'd be surprised if nobody ever demanded a nerf for Reno Jackson or C'thun. You could theoretically still nerf them without ruining them, like making Reno a 3/6, but most nerfs are intended to completely ruin a card and every deck associated with them. Like making Reno cost 8 mana instead.
Since these days the developers are just as quick with knee-jerk reactions as the players are, I wouldn't even be surprised to see some more drastic "balance changes" in another few weeks, stupid as it would be.
