There is a You Tube video out there supporting my idea that the most recent nerfs were not because of gameplay or some sort of issue with these cards being 'auto-includes'. I stated in other threads that these changes were made for financial reasons only for the upcoming expansion and other changes we do not know about just yet.
In case the link is not allowed, the title of the video is:
The Hearthstone Developers Have Deceived Us About NERFS!
The robot voice is annoying, but talks about all the numbers gathered regarding these cards and how often they are played. What you will find out and learn is these cards were NOT auto includes and therefore there is something else going on.
Since I trust numbers, data and math more than I do what the developers tell us, this is disturbing to me. For example, remember when they said that they wanted the Rogue Legendary, Tess to work like the old Yogg Saron, specifically when they were asked and even published this? Then they go and try to nerf the card and make it pointless and change it despite the fact that people crafted the card because it DID work like the old Yogg Saron. So they walked it back and 'soft-nerfed' it instead, limiting how many times it triggers.
This development team has done many other things like this to lie to it's player base. The question is then, Why did they nerf these Classic and Basic cards?
OP, is this a joke or what? Of course everything Activision Blizzard does is, in the end, for financial reasons. Only a fanboy or an incredible naive person would think otherwise.
I have to agree I like data too. And thank you for point this out for the public who doesn't take the time to look.
But I also like common sense.
Common sense tells me that this is a corporation run e-sport, e-trading card game. They created it to make a profit.
The idea that they make changes to cards in order to manipulate the flow of cash seem like common sense. Not some sort of hidden agenda or conspiracy theory.
The cards from the classic set they nerfed were all definitely cards that would consistently be considered for decks. You want an aggressive rogue deck, you use cold blood. You want a Control Paladin, you’ll use Equality. An aggressive shaman deck, you’ll use Flametongue. If you want a big cheap removal for hunter, you’ll use hunter’s mark.
Yeah they’ll try to make money, that’s what a company does. But it’s ridiculous to pretend these cards aren’t used.
Not everything needs to be some big conspiracy you know.
Precisely but in the same vain the company shouldn't be surprised when their IPs slowly start to go downhill when they do very little to support the titles in any meaningful way.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
I must have forgot that fact in my economics classes. Corporations want money? Huh, could have fooled me.
The issue is that the nerfs were made under false pretenses. They claim it was because these cards were auto includes and limit design and other such nonsense.
The truth, if those that care about that, is they are creating new cards for new expansions, as well as testing for the new expansion as well. These nerfs were intended to make new players have to pay for the newer cards because these nerfed cards will no longer be as powerful or viable.
I understand that this data out there is not 'official' but that does not make it any less valid. It's limited in scope due to the numbers, but it is nowhere useless data. Think about how its gathered? The people using these apps and providing this data do so ON PURPOSE. They love the game enough to go out of there way to install additional apps to help their play experience. That data is far MORE valuable than 1000 players who download the game for the first time and are trying it because someone said its a fun game. That data has no real merit to what cards are actually being used by more 'serious' players.
The issue is that the nerfs were made under false pretenses. They claim it was because these cards were auto includes and limit design and other such nonsense.
Jesus Christ... And what do you expect? Would you prefer them to tell us: "Well, we are nerfing this cards because we want more of your money in the future, as usual." Are you serious, bro?
I'd forgotten how the Internet breeds Paranoia. Yes, they made the changes, No it might not have been exactly because the Cards limited design space.
They are a Company. With Shareholders. To them, Money is the overriding priority with Gameplay a close second (because if the Game is dogfood they won't make money). Profits and Quality User Experience go hand in hand. If people hate the game, they won't buy into it. Simple.

Well to be fair there is middle ground between "THEY LIED TO US" and "WE WANT YOUR MONEY". It probably goes something along the lines of we nerfed x card because it is prevalent in x deck. Calling Equality, Cold Blood and Flametongue Totem auto-includes in the vast majority of decks is a blatantly transparent fib. It just shows a lack of respect to the playerbase

The video cited by the OP doesn't "explain" anything as far as the devs "lying" about the recent nerfs, since intent can't be deduced from frigging around with data compiled by a third-party site. Presumably, there are lots of reasons that cards are nerfed, apart from the ones explicitly stated by the folks who post on the HS blog - they don't need to write an essay every time they decide to change a card. A good example from the most recent nerfs is provided by Flametongue Totem - uncontroversially, the card was nerfed for the benefit of Wild. The blog post didn't mention Wild, didn't mention that Even Shaman was over-played in the format, with a dominating win-rate, or anything else. And they didn't need to.
Christ. It's a card game. Folks who play CCGs accept that cards will often be nerfed for reasons that they might angrily disagree with - it's meant to be "for the good of the game". If you're playing an IRL game, tough shit. Wizards of the Coast isn't going to send you a cheque for $6000 if you decide to purchase a play-set of Mishra's Workshop the week before they announce the card is being restricted. HS isn't an IRL game - Blizzard sends you a cheque of in-game currency every time they fuck around with balance, and the game has an in-game economy which further offsets the costs of nerfs.

They have shown a lack of respect toward the playerbase many times already while doing much worse things. Believe me, lying about some nerfs is a very small thing compared to all that.
Since I trust numbers, data and math more than I do what the developers tell us, this is disturbing to me. For example, remember when they said that they wanted the Rogue Legendary, Tess to work like the old Yogg Saron, specifically when they were asked and even published this? ...
The point about Tess is fair (and I am a known long-time Burgle Rogue fan so I was as upset about it as anyone), but as someone who writes software I can appreciate the logic behind the change given they were clearly attempting to streamline the code for a group of similar cards. Most importantly on this matter they did change it back (the 'soft-nerf' would have been part of the code streamlining and lets be honest makes no difference).
Here's an idea though: company tries to make money by making sincere efforts to improve a game and maintain a player base. Sounds like a win-win to me, I wonder why no one ever considers it possible that is the approach the devs are trying to take.
OP, is this a joke or what? Of course everything Activision Blizzard does is, in the end, for financial reasons. Only a fanboy or an incredible naive person would think otherwise.
Right, kinda like the Lunar New Year event which is giving us loads of gold and dust for free. And that they extended it a day, for no good reason. Because they are extorting us for our money.
Unless, of course, you mean that they are giving us free stuff to keep us interested in the game, in the hopes to keep a healthy fanbase, which will in turn increase profits, then yes. But of course, that's what a business should be doing.

But seriously, none of the sites that the video used have as much or as comprehensive data as Blizzard does.

Well yeah. Whats the point of printing new cards if everyone just uses classic ones?
They actually want you to play new cards. This is news?
I can't take videos with auto generated voice seriously. Either use your own voice or don't make videos. Have a skin in the game.
