My max rank is 3 or 4, I think. When I reach that, I can normally keep myself around that rank.
I haven't played much ranked for the last 2 months though, so I've dropped to around 12 and it certainly feels like people are much better at this rank than at 4, and I don't understand why as it, naturally, shouldn't be like that.
Spell hunter and odd warrior, decks that I had around a 55-60% win rate with at 5-4-3 and kept myself afloat, suddenly gives me like a 30-40% win rate, and I'm losing ranks fast.
Just me experiencing this? If not, anybody has an explanation?
The meta changed, Spell Hunter is not good right now, and you could be facing a bunch of OTK decks at those ranks. Bottom line, your decks from two months ago would be crap now.
I also think that meta matters. At lower ranks you encounter a different meta, possibly more varied, and your usual cookie-cutter deck meets more unfavourable matchups.
Nope, players make significantly more misplays at lower ranks, that's a fact. It's all in your head. That being said, most of those players are still playing top tier meta decks, which is why you might think they're better than they actually are.
From my experience, up to rank 10 it's super easy, 9-6 you'll encounter a degree of try-hard. Rank 5-4 is the fun deck area, people tend to play all sorts of things without the risk of losing ranks. Rank 3-1 is the extreme try hard zone, and from my experience people play better and are more up on what the latest and best decks are.
Lots of people who were previously legend but had to take a small break or were too busy in life/work to play HS for few months are lurking around rank 10. So you can definitely encounter some very good players who used to be legend a lot, just haven't played recently. Some top legend players even stop playing ladder to drop ranks so they can meme at lower ranks.
I consider myself a good veteran player and I also play mostly my own decks (takes opponents by surprise at times) however i have absolutely no desire to climb ranks. sometimes I'm too lazy to even get to 15 at the end of the month. I think there's plenty of people like me out there that used to devote more time to climbing but now are just coasting and waiting for something spicy to play, so we plague the dumpster ranks.

I can only speak from my own limited experience in ranks 10 -> Legend, but essentially I have found that the skill level across these ranks doesnt seem to change much if at all. But the deck types do. There seem to be certain types of decks at certain rank stages. From 10 - 6, it is all high competitive Tier 1 decks from people desperate to get to Rank 5. Then from Ranks 5-1, it is similar, but there are also Tier 2 decks a lot.
At legend, it's all just meme-city... lol
Worth noting that players seem to make dumb mistakes just as much (if not more) at legend as they do anywhere else)
I totally get the feeling. But the answers is no. Players at rank 3 are better than player at rank 12 (on average! let's be clear).
Here are some point I would like to make. At rank 12-7 people tryhard a lot while at rank 5 a lot of people just chill. Another aspect to consider is that you could generally feel superior to your opponent so you don't consider your opponent strong enought and tend to disrespect him. Finally the meta is a lot polarized at those ranks. One match is you against face hunter the other you are facing big spell mage and the third match is maly Rogue. People also tend to play more aggressive deck style, either typical aggro or OTK.
It's been somewhat the same for me when I've cared enough to rank up, my luck feels horrible at the lower ranks and I keep getting countered by the MMR.

Feels that way at least.

I'm currently at rank 18 and I'm completely trash. Your theory failed. =)
Not you are the only one, who haven't played for few months :) These players are on lower ranks, too.
My usual r5 is now r15, my friend's usual legend is now r10. Waiting for the rotation....
Meta changed now top decks are 1- Resurrect priest . 2 - midrange hunter . 3- Holy wrath paladin .
also in higher ranks meta changeand become more predictable so maybe thats why you feel its easier .
I do appreciate your input and have read your replies for some time. Many here at HearthPwn help me play better but -----
/Why does this site allow such large, ugly, egregious signatures?/ wutdafawk?
edit: my bad - I blocked ya. Sorry to be triggred.
I enjoy.
No. Players are generally better at rank 5 upwards. That's my experience anyway.
Lol XD
thanks man and i hope my signature doesnt bother you .
you got it right ? i dont think anyone should be triggered because of it .
Edit : lol he really blocked me ! As if i give a f%#k about garbage .

OP claiming he usually stays at rank 3 or 4 must be a lie, considering he doesn't even know how to adapt to a meta... Like seriously, wtf???
