I want to see whatever "complaint (s)" they received to enact this change. Probably some middle American housewife who saw her son playing one day and didn't like how much cleavage Jaina showed.
What happens if they do it in WoW too? people will go fucking nuts.
How is that a reason to shut up everyone including those who didn't partake in that attitude?
Sounds like an excuse to curbstomp a difficult subject to me.
I see what you mean, but let me tell you something:
The mods locked the previous threads not because the subject of this topic was a contreversial (delicate) one, but because there wasn't a rational conversation about the topic. People were just posting salty reactions about this and demanded a revert to Jaina's art in a very vulgar way (I would say). Then Ehronatha made the current thread to ask mods to leave such threads open, so that people could discuss the change to Jaina's art freely. He wanted to convince them, that we are capable of leading rational discussions and that we shouldn't be hindered doing so. This would have been very welcoming, if people actually continued the discussion in a polite matter.
The thread was not locked because of whether or not Jaina's boobs being covered is sexist. The thread was locked for the sexist and racist comments which people left in response to the original post, which was just informing people that the change had been made.
The first few comments were fine, but offered no further discussion, simply reactions to the change.Since further comments then degraded, there was no reason to keep the thread open to attract further poor quality posts.
Judging by the contents of the majority of posts here, seeing how they can be described more as a salty spams than as objective arguments, I can totally see why the mods are willing to close this and similar threads.

I've already read the explanation (no need to bold anything) I simply doubt that's true. I suspect it's more about the sensitive and somewhat loathed nature of the subject (prudish censorship by the usual suspects) and thus a desire to sweep it under the rug fast and silently rather than a "noble concern for the quality of a thread".
really, If any art should be changed. its Valeera's. not necessarily for modesty's sake, but because her outfit is so impractical it makes me mad. sreiously. thigh high boots, bright red everything, feather on her hood?, and WINGS! WHY?? i just hate her outfit so much. please blizzard, make a really good, and free rogue hero skin so valeera can die.
You have one. She's called Maeiv.
but I people still play valeera. I want one that is so much better that no one will play valeera ever.
It's probably because Maiev's Golden Animation sucks. To be fair, there isn't a lot to do with her golden animation since she covered herself head to toe with armor.

It's quite telling that there's still no news coverage on the site about this change. Quite dishonest for a site that purports itself as keeping the player up to stuff with the game's changes.
I thought the original portrait was overly sexualized, so I am in favor of the change. Suggestiveness is classier than semi-nudity. I don't play WoW, but I have read that the Jaina character was known for her wisdom, courage, and history of struggles, and her looks were secondary.
Full disclosure: I'm a gay man, and cleavage doesn't do that much for me. Another personal bias is that I think both men and women should dress modestly in public, like buttoned-to-the-top modest. (Edit, yes my avatar is Lucy Heartfilia, and yes I hate how she is dressed in the anime/manga even though I like her.)
Of course, there is a lot of idealization in fantasy art, for both men and women. As many have pointed out, several of the male portraits have pictures hyper-muscular half-naked fantasy humanoid men.
Blizzard should directly address the censorship of the portrait. I would like to know the reasoning. Had they received complaints? Did they foresee a future problem? Are they going to be stricter about sexiness in future art releases?
That's dumb. She's a mage who isnt afraid of the cold. More seriously, all the characters should look just like they do in WoW. It's too many layers. Looks bad.
In the real world no one cares about your "modesty". People dress exactly how they want and are comfortable. Your opinion on what anyone wears in public is just about as important as other's opinion on what you do in private.
*micdrop*
Hah. It is not true that people get to dress exactly as they want. Maybe in the Scandinavian utopia you inhabit clothing is optional, but not where I come from. There are plenty of places where "comfortable dress" won't get you in door.
Public decency is a big issue in a lot of places. It seems a lot of the discussion of modesty (in the United States at least) devolves into young men getting mad that someone is denying them their view of breasts and young women getting mad that someone is denying them the opportunity to show their breasts.
Personally I'm convinced that cleavage is a sexual display, and should be considered as such. Plunging necklines in women's fashion not present in men's fashion are basic evidence of this. Your society decides how much sexual display it can handle, and then you go from there. There are a lot of societies in which Jaina would get arrested for wearing that outfit. I like RavenSunHP's idea that the alteration was due to a business decision in order to appeal to the biggest market possible. I'm interested in hearing Blizzard's reasoning, but I guess that not saying anything is their wisest move.

What did the early 2000's call and demand cartoon images to be censored again like old Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh cards/anime? Pathetic, can we all just grow up please, anyone who is offended by cartoon cleavage obviously has the perfect life and lives in a little bubble..................and deserves to be slapped around the face really, really hard

Whatever was censored in yugioh or pokemon?!!!!!
Dark Magic Girl had larger breasts in the original and it was reduced when it went to the west. As far as pokemon, I believe the reference is towards the episode when James wore large breasts for a swimsuit episode. That one was flat out banned and buried.

This is so funny, comming from someone who admitted being gay... In the past (not so long ago), being gay was a crime in most countries, did you know that? Because it seems that you live inside of a bubble. Now you support shamelessly this change, as you said in your previous post, and you seem to be ok with Blizzard decision to appeal to the biggest market possible, even in places were woman are being arrested for wearing outfits similar to Jaina's one. Admitting it is not Blizzard's wisest move, doesn't change that fact.
How the hell that makes any sense? How dare you to support something like this, when it goes against everything those of your kind have fought in the past, so you can live a normal life in the present? Don't you have any respect for those who fought for your rights years ago? I guess the answer is no...
The longer this thread continues, the more I understand why the original thread was locked rather quickly.
Dad, husband, gamer, fueled by coffee.
Currently playing Dragon Galakrond Priest, Dragon Galakrond Warrior and Highlander Dragon Hunter.

The hyper sensitivity of some noisy people should not interfere with the products offered for a silent majority.
Advertising clothes, games, tv shows, etc ...
Everything is being affected by these people who take offense and bother with anything.
That's the problem, not Jaina breasts

Hearthpwn used to be a very cool place... Seriously, what is going on? Are you people trying to hide this or what?
Please, don't tell me "Political correctness" is also damaging my beautiful forum (probably the best in the world). :(

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
