"One of the main reasons why many are looking forward to the first set of 2019 is that it will mark the first release that was developed after the departure of Ben Brode and co. in its entirety. We’ve been reading the tea leaves for a while now about how the “new kids on the block” intend to change things, but it’s becoming clear that they’re more than willing to bring a sledgehammer to bear, especially where the Classic set is concerned."
I don't like the aggressive approach towards the classic set. Newer cards should be built around the foundation of a class and exploring new concepts, while the baseline classic cards remain as the identity of said class. I'm okay with them nerfing specific targets in classic that are too powerful, but I'd rather see them nerfing the newer cards to keep classes intact.
As long as the changes improve the game I don't have a problem with the current devs making some fundamental changes. In my opinion they've been doing a fairly good job so far, but there have been some mistakes and there is a lot more they could do (especially if they are willing to question core elements of the game's design).
I think people put way too much weight on how much Ben Brode and co. influenced specific card design. Brode hadn't been involved in card design long before he left blizzard. There are hundreds of other people that influence the current state of hearthstone.
Screw the classic set, it's a big part of the whole problem. As far as Brode is concerned, looks like the trash took itself out. I just remember the WW video where he was gushing about Baku and Genn. RR was a step in the right direction, hope it continues.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
-The last 3 sets have neither strong vision nor compelling game mechanics. -They aren't particularly fun. -They nerf evergreen cards with no regard for class identity.
Soon we'll have a game old players can't recognize and new players aren't excited about.
The classic set wasn't designed to be an evergreen set, and they have been encountering the problems with that. Keep going. Keep nerfing and banning.
Wasn't it tho
The classic set was meant as a baseline of class identity, not of power. Wild/standard were introduced years after the classic set was created, and if they knew they were going to do rotations they likely wouldn't have designed the classic set the way they did.
screw classic set. I get sad every expansion that there are so many unusable "filler" cards just because they're heavily outclassed by cards that have been in the game forever, it just adds to the already stale gameplay nature that competitive cardgames have.

No hard feelings, but this is the first time I agree with any of your statements completely.
Blizzard doing quick nerfs and balance changes to arena. AWTDCA (the guy who won Twitch Rivals) and Kripp say that arena is better than ever. Constructed is decent, although I don't like OTK decks like Mecha'thun and Topsy Turvy, hopefully it will be better after rotation. Overall I like the state of the game right now.
The last 3 expansions are the worst in the history of Hearthstone, so my tea leaves does not show a good future of this game.
No.
Worst meta impact and keywords: TGT.
Worst flavor and lore: Kar
Most OP: MSG.
Also, please remember that there was a massive outcry to stop the incredible powercreep we saw last year, and rather have the game stabilize at a lower powerlevel. Otherwise, we would end up with 1-mana 30-30 chargers and hero starting lives in the 1000s.
Ben Brode greenlit terrible things for HS and why the game is in the state it is so I am hoping that life without Brode will be an improvement for the game and looking forward to see what they do without him and his cohorts. There isn't anything good about Brode and really don't know why people are head over heels over him.

Wrong: Worst meta impact is Witchwood: because there it's either Genn or Baku, other cards are at best some gap filler, but nothing more. Genn and Baku warps the whole game around them, and that's bad. Odd/Even is the worst mechanic ingame, NOT inspire.
The issue with Inspire is that blizzard simply calculated wrong: nearly ALL inspire Cards are simply 1 mana too expensive or the effect was 1-2 stat points too weak. If this was not the case, then TgT might have been a lot of fun.
Don't even start with lore (even through i don't understand what expansion you mean with KAR); because Hearthstone does not have a lot to do with lore: the only thing that was impactful to the lore was the reveal of N'zoth (and adding some hearthstone-characters to WoW)
Most OP was not MSG, it was Kobolts and Catacombs. And yes, it was OP, but it was also impactful and changed the meta drastically. And it was very very fun. The last 3 expansions weren't; because it's only about ODD or EVEN, but nothing about deck experimenting with new cards, it's ODD or EVEN. And then adding new keywords without any support of it, adding too many mechanics that later lack the cards to be useful and so on.
Nope, the Worst expansions were the latest. Boomsday wasn't as bad as the other 2, but still; there do no longer seem to have a concept or adding new interresting cards, it's all about reprints, unviable cards and adding a new mechanic in every expansion (or multiple as in RR) that simply do not work because there are too few cards having these mechanics and instead putting filler over filler in the packs. Kobolts was OP, but at least the cards there weren't all filler compared to Witchwood and Rastakhan's rumble.
And there is a BIG difference between powercreep, making equal strong cards and simply adding filler over filler over filler over filler. Cards should make an impact, adding only weak expansions for the sake of the game or to prevent powercreep makes the expansions not interresting, they make them lame. If cards get too OP, then there is still the tool of nerfing them, but having only expansions with boring and uninteresting cards does not fix the game.
My problem with the last few expansions is that new mechanics that are interesting were underused. Echo, overkill, and magnetic are great mechanic ideas that they added to only a very few cards and completly avoided exploring fully. I would prefer each expansion to have at least 10 playable cards that utilize the main new mechanic in unique ways.
It's really sad that no one plays almost any echo cards at all and that magnetic cards are rarely played for their magnetic abilities. The game needs more uniqueness and new ways of playing. I worry that Brode might have left because the thought the management in charge of card developers were unwilling to take risks by adding cards that are super creative. Instead, they think that people like secret hunter so we should add more secret hunter cards or people like deathrattle hunter so we should add deathrattle rogue cards and diminish class uniqueness.

What do you think about this?
Awesome, all for it ! The less stupid uncounterable bullshit in the game, the better.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, Ben Brode worked on that three expansions too, so... what's your point?
