Well, if you make it too easy then legend status will become less exclusive / easier to achieve. It's supposed to be HARD to get to legend so only most elite players make it. Making it easier just diminishes the achievement.
Not worth it to me - I got it a few times, hated the monotonous feeling of it as it sucked the joy and creativity out of the game. However, some people feel validated with the legend ranking next to your name....so whatever you think is worth it.
In the end, if you feel empowered by win streaks and perfecting your play with a specific deck it can be worth your time. If, however, you feel it is becoming so monotonous that it feels more like a chore/work than a game, then it is not worth making you hate the game/opponents/other decks that counter yours.
Tbh it's not a big deal unless you are a competitive player / pro. Most people that reach legend monthly basically play the game many hours every day. Many of them are streamers or pro players so it's their job to play the game and if you play 8+ hours every day and have >50% win rate you will be reaching legend every month. But for most players it's not worth it as you probably don't have that much time to invest into this game, might have job / life outside of HS.
I need to win 25 more games than i lose to go from R5 to legend.
With 58% winrate, this indicates that I would have to play 302 games to achieve that.
One of my games takes 7.8 minutes on average.

I would need to grind 39,26 hours to reach Legend?
Is this game out of it's mind?
I'm no statistician, but from these posts I've seen, taking 39,26 hours to reach legend with 58% WR and 7.8 min average would be getting the short end of the stick.
I have nerver reached legend, think I peaked on R2 some seasons. That sayed, here are my toughts on the game design:
- Since January 2018, you are set back 4 ranks (20 stars) each month. That means that, not accounting for winstreaks, you are set back 20 stars.
- You made the argument going form R5 zero stars, but you need not to perform the climb from R5 on the last day of the month. The way blizzard set up ladder last year it made it easyer for people to get closer to legend in a longer run than that. You have 30 days to win 21 stars, in order to start the next month ahead from where you started the previous one. With a 58% winrate, it should take you 126 games to advance, or 4,2 games a day (16,25 hours/month or a bit over half an hour a day).
- It is still a fucking grind I do not intend to do myself, unless someday I am having a blast with a deck which is killing the meta and I am carried up by my own enjoyment. That said, IF you feel like going for legend, you should think of it as a multy-month endeavor. Being R8 on the 1st is AHEAD of being R5 on the 30th.
A 58% winrate means that you can assume to earn .58 stars per match, and lose .42, which is a net gain of .16 stars per game. Thus, you'll need to play 25/.16 = 157 games to make it to legend. At 7.8 minutes per game, that's about 20 hours. That doesn't factor in things like the time between matches or time spent tweaking decks or taking breaks. This also assumes your pre-rank-5 winrate will be maintained all the way to legend, which is definitely not true, as ranks 1-4 are seriously competitive.
The funny thing about statistics is that it almost never works like its predicted. I have tried to get to Legend many times and a lot of times the progress stops at rank 2 or 3 because there all the other 55%+ winrate decks are. But sometimes you get the good matchups and your winrate increases for a short time and you reach Legend in a short time. This month I reached Legend, for the third time, with Odd Mage facing a lot of Hunters in about 40 games. Statisticly Odd Mage has a 55% winrate.
I find that if I start at rank 4 and just play a few games a day I usually hit legend again by 15-20th of each month. I have sometimes sunk in a few hours on a day here or there but it may not even matter. If you get a good win streak your total time drops significantly. And if you have a bad streak you eventually recover, it just takes a bit longer.
it depends on where you start. but i have done this once and it truly was one of the worst experiences i have ever had in the game itself. the mindset and reality of legend is 2 very different things. the mindset is you accomplish this big feat. the reality is 45 dust from rank 5 which is far from worth the time which is where the problem is for incentive.
As others said, it's a question of time but also of mental fortitude. You have to accept losing streaks and not get angry. I regularly got to rank 2 and no further, but recognising when you are playing badly and not wasting games is an important breakthrough in getting further. Also, if you stop seeing bad match ups as unfair, and you accept them, it helps. I think that's what makes getting to legend an achievement, despite what people say about it being easy and overrated.
Easy. Just get a Monday - Friday 9-5 job, but exclusively play hearthstone. You'll essentially be paid for playing Hearthstone, like the streamers and pro players do!
The best part is that you'll only need one week to do it, which is great cos you'll be fired after that.
Some people will play the game every day for hours and still not make it to Legend. So no, Rank 5 isn’t = Legend. However that doesn’t mean that it’s impossible for some players that are rank 5 to be ‘’Legend level’’ players. It’s my case right now, I get to rank 5 for the epic and then farm dailies & arena. I don’t attempt the climb so I am just rank 5 even though I’ve been to Legend a few times. I usually get to rank 5 from 9 in a day without trouble. However the main problem with the Rank 5 = Legend is that most players who think that are the ones that have never been to Legend and tend to overestimate themselves

Just my two cents.

The quick math is as follows:

I think the point is that legend is not an indication of elite play. It's an indication of elite time investment.

Just try! But don't forget to have fun!
