well i play odd paladin and i don't know if i would put him in my deck if i had him, fungal mancer or frostwolf seem good too, i'd replace maybe one frostwolf for zilliax.
i run 2 stonehill defenders and sometimes you get a mech out of it, so can be a good time magneting it up
but generally he is only good if your hero GETs hitten to the face, otherwise its an understatted minion IMO
so... vs combo he's bad imo(they only hit face after they got their combo)
Zilliax can be compared to Flanking Strike, in that it leaves a 3 attack minion on board, and clears a 3 health minion on the opponents board. It also has Lifesteal, and enables Corpsetaker. So yes, its a very strong card in most circumstances.
There's a decent chance he'll heal for 6 unless your opponent uses a spell or ability on it. Compared to Lifedrinker and other cards like Fire Plume Phoenix it's a good trade off for 1-2 more mana. (Bash or SI:7 Agent)
Or runs another Zilliax into it. The new Z has Divine Shield, so can ram an enemy Zilliax without granting them healing.
I've run Dr. Z in Odd Rogue, where it seemed decent. You always use your face to hit things, so a little healing is nice if your opponent wants to race. Having Rush on Z allows your on-board minions to go face instead of trading into taunts. Vilespine Slayer is good, but I'm often finding myself low on combo activators. Zilliax is kinda like a Vilespine that doesn't require an activator. A few taunts are also often handy in aggressive decks, to protect higher-attack minions. Probably the least of 5-drops in the deck, but he does so many useful things.
Zilliax's flexibility and tech against a variety of opponents is such that he is simply an excellent card. In some way a little like Giggling Inventor was, pre-nerf. He slots quite easily into pretty much any deck (given the right situation and card synergy etc). There has been musings over whether he might be too strong, but nothing concrete yet. (I'm not saying he is or isn't - but it is a fairly commen occurrence that when Blizzard notice a card is being played as frequently and in as many different decks as this card is, they start to take notice)

Which does worry me somewhat. I really don't won't to see Zilliax HoF'd the same as Azure Drake. Not because of the power level as such but because he is played in SO MANY decks.
The golden Zilli-bro I unpacked was a gift from Ben Brode himself. Zilliax is great for his cost, but I guess if you look at him as "Flanking Strike + life gain + the wolf created has taunt and lifesteal and is a mech" he's pretty fairly costed. It Blizzard destroys this card I'll lose faith in this game. Also I don't think non-classic cards can be HoF'd, as we've seen with cards like Raza the Chained and Patches when they're about to rotate out to wild Blizzard likes to give them a swift kick in the ass.
Almost always goes 2-1, proactive, reactive, disruptive.
It's not the strongest legendary or even close, but it's the most universally useful. Good in tempo decks, control decks, and combo decks. Only aggro decks don't play it but I wouldn't be surprised if they start after rotation and stuff like Fungal is gone.
I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Zillax catch a nerf or HOF eventually. The power level of the game is so high right now with all the year of the mammoth cards, and Zillax is still the most played legendary. I expect it to be even more omnipresent after rotation.
He is incredibly versitile and useful in almost every situation. Great against in any deck, neutral so he can be used in every non-odd deck. Suprised it's only 27.5 tbh

Zilliax is one of the best cards that Team 5 have printed. Along with Loatheb and Azure Drake.
His versatility is amazing and it's very cost effective.
4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
Because when faced with a choice between Unity, Precision, and Perfection, you no longer have to choose just one.
On a serious note, here's why:

Removal + sustain in one card. Also the sinergy with corpsetaker is incredible.
I will crush you!
Where can I find wild Badasses ?
The tables have been turned, now Dr. Boom is Zilly 7 ,because Zilliax is more worthy.

after april's rotation, he will be even more dominant.
