There is always one most played class. It's just math. I was thinking if you were playing the class that was at the top of the list that your matchmaking would be favored for other players playing that class.
That way if you were playing any of the other 8 classes the representation of the most played class would be lower and you'd be far less likely to have a run of opponents from any one class.
It wouldn't have to be a strong bit of favoring. Say.... 15%. (or any other number) If say Hunter is the most played class Hunters would be 15% more likely than now to have a mirror match and everyone else would be 15% less likely. (or any other number)
I think it might be a nice way to encourage folks to not be so quick to jump on a bandwagon, and I sure would have liked this feature when decks like Pirate Warrior, Midrange Shaman, or Mysterious Challenger ruled the meta.
Not sure how much this would help with the "there's always one best class" problem, but nevertheless it'll never happen. Complicating matchmaking just would lead to longer wait times for opponents, not to mention it would be impossible to implement during those awkward "new meta" phases directly after a new expansion releases. But hey, at least you're thinking! I'm sure there's a solution I'm just not sure about THIS solution.
No, I would not support this change. It would allow players of the highest played class to tech their decks against that class better, and players not playing the highest played class to tech against other decks instead of that one. You end up trying to work around the problem of balancing the classes instead of actually balancing the classes, skewing the data on what cards are actually too strong. If Hunters are more likely to play against Hunters, they're going to trend more towards a 50% winrate, which is not indicative of their actual strength.
It also unfairly punishes players who are playing the most played class, but not playing a particularly meta-crushing deck in that class - Dragon Hunter players, for example.
No, the players do this themselves. The most played classes get countered more with both decks and tech. The problem arises when there are no real counter available or the only good counter is a one-trick-pony that loses to everything else.

Nice idea, probably difficult to implement though and might cause more problems than it rectifies.
Making all the secret hunters fight to the death is a glorious idea though.
I would like to ban a class (like tournaments)
Facing all of these hunters is boring...

You can find me here! Good luck everyone!

I hate running into one class over and over (Hunters now)... but I accept on the ladder you just get what you get.
In casual though? God yes, please give us a "class block" option.
