nah I seriously hope not anyway. we don't need anything nerfed.
unless they start to do constant nerfs and balances, I'm not too hot on them doing these big changes that hurt more than the archetype they were intended to hobble.
I don't think devolve needs nerfed, and the odd and even activator cards don't need nerfed neither.
I don't think I've been beaten by more than 2 even shamans recently in wild (mainly because I play molten giants tbh though, ha ha)
I really hope they don't kill any more decks this year. Even the stuff I don't like I just deal with because someone else will love the decks I hate and it's not fair on them to have their decks ruined because I don't like it.
If they started doing a lot more in the terms of ballence updates I would get it, but they don't so I 'm not on board with nerfs really. I don't think anything should be HoF'd as well other than preparation. and I only want prep HoF'd so rogue will become unshackled in future releases. Yeah it would ruin all but the faciest face rogue decks for a while, but in the long term rogue will be better for it.
These are the kind of nerfs I can get behind. I really don't think delove is that much of a problem.
PS: yeah OK barnes can be busted. still don't think they should ruin the card though.
I think this card being in >20% of decks you encounter on the wild ladder seeps a lot of fun out of the format. There are a lot of fun decks that might be sort of good but aren't viable because of devolve. It might not be the most powerful card, but it's certainly the most anti-fun card in the wild meta.
Nope, Devolve would be the last card i expect them to nerf. It's most of the time only good as a finisher, and even then it can totally go wrong. Even Shaman has so many cards that really needs a nerf, Devolve is probably one of the weaker ones. What really needs nerfs in Even shaman are following:
This card is the bread and butter of this deck. having the ability to summon a totem every turn and give it the ability to destroy anything in these crucial early game makes this deck so insane. It's the same effect that odd-rogue has, and it's insane too.
We had this case over and over again: Everytime there is a minion that can cost 0 mana, it's insane. Look at Molten Giant in Vanilla, look at Thing from Below in Old Gods and especially look at Corridor Creeper: when a minion can cost 0 mana, it get's insane. And this card with a hero-power that makes it cost 1 less each turn makes it automatically insane.
These 3 cards are really the core of the issue people have with even shaman, not devolve.
<specifically in regards to Even Shaman> Devolve is good in specific situations. It's bad in most situations. As a tech choice to deal with a Taunt preventing lethal, you might as well just run Shieldbreaker instead. If you're playing Even Shaman and need to play Devolve to PREVENT lethal, you're probably already dead.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.

I think genn is the problem in even shaman, not devolve.
Genn is not problematic himself, it's a fair card, not like Baku the Mooneater
baku is stronger because 3 drops are better. blizzard doesn't print very many good 2 drops and 4 drops.
I still don't think either of them are a problem though. I know this is personal, but I don't like un-interactive decks. secret decks and some shuderwok decks for instance, machine gun priest was a bit like this.
I really don't mind baku decks, even when odd warrior is beating me almost every game I face them in wild.
I guess I'm just a lot less inclined to change things in HS because the nerfs are so in-frequent it really hurts when they happen. In games like weebstone where the balance updates are constant you don't even have time to care because it's the norm. Everything gets changed all the time and it's what to be expected... if something is changed and it completely breaks something, more changes will be made to counter.
In hearthstone they just make a change and leave it for months and months and by this time there has been a meta state of pure secret hunters during the climb and low ranks, that sends all the players to wild (true story, happened to me. I love wild now.. thank you hunter stone, sincerely)
I say either frequent patches or "nerfs" "buffs" etc or just leave things alone unless they are absolutely truly broken and must be stopped. I don't think Baku falls into this category, neither does Genn or devolve. they can all be beaten.
My decks tend to do bad against baku warriors, but genn shamans are no competition for my giant lock as they can't even devolve my win condition anyway. These are strong cards with great synergy, but I happen to think that the odd and even mechanic was the best thing they've done in a while. It enabled decks to happen that could keep combo decks in check, and also very cheap decks that are tier one and that is important.
If all the best decks were expensive the game would suck for newer players. I think the odd and even mechanic brought back some of that high tier cheap stuff I came up on during old gods.
I mean we can always make a cheap hunter deck, but people get sick of playing only face hunter. With odd and even it allowed for cheaper aggressive decks that could compete with the expensive decks.
In my opinion this balance is key to the longevity of hearthstone.
I think that card is a problem in even shaman, its cost might be increased to 3 mana.
It is unlikely that it would be. It's lasted this long without being a problem and it is a really easy card to play around. (Just play high cost minions and enjoy the free stuff. :-) )
On topic, Devolve has been a controversial card in the past, if you remember. Not worthy a nerf back then maybe, but it was definitely controversial.
Btw, Devolve can pretty much hard-counter lethal against swarm decks. Odd Paladin above all, but also Eggro Druid, or Murloc decks (currently out of radars). Devolve the Recruits means they can't be buffed. Devolve any other swarm board means you turn buffed or sticky stuff into nothingness that can be pinged away. Hell, even just against a board of Pirates against Odd Rogue.
Just to point out, I am not saying Devolve should definitely be nerfed. But it's not an innocent card, and nerfing it might contribute to fixing Wild mode, at least in its Wild-only subset (together with other critical cards).
Personally, I do not hink that evolve will get nerfed. I do also not see the need of it being nerfed.
However, after some of the more recent nerfs I wouldn't exclude the possibility that it actually gets nerfed. Some nerfs are apparently solely made to change the meta and the cards used in the respective decks (and not for balancing reasons in the sense of trying to make the card strong but fair). Then again, Devolve is not a card that defines even shaman in wild, so a nerf still seems very unlikely to me.
Devolve was anticipated to be OP when it was announced. Later complains slowly vanished. But the arguments people were giving back then are still really valid. It's a massdispel without the card draw and statistically a considerably bigger chance to reduce the total stats on the board for 2 mana. In regard to removing taunts it is technically even better than Hex, something which in the case against control matches is the only thing that matters.
I do must say, if just one specific card prevents multiple arch types from winning, it deserves to be looked at. Not saying it needs to be nerfed, but the attention it is getting is to be expected.
No. Devolve is helpful but it is not even guaranteed to do the job it's usually intended for (removing taunts, etc.) because you may get a similar (or better) card for your opponent that is just one less mana. Plus, there's very few times you have two devolves in your hand, even with Hagatha for a better effect.
Devolve is a great card cause it keeps certain cards in place. Eggs, cubes, barnes, any sort of stuff like that. But it can screw up your game too.
You could devolve a sun walker into an earth elemental or to a 1/1. You never know what you will get.
If the card would be changed idk how the card could be changed cause at 3 mana it would be underpowered imo.
Again we come to the same aspect of Baku and Genn being the problem. Many cards arent a problem in normal decks but those 2 legendaries make them problematic.
This why I still think Genn and Baku were a mistake and made the game less enjoyable for me.

Insane Early-Game card that needs to be hit with the nerf-coil since it came out.
Thing from Below

I just had a 4 game win streak against 3 even shaman and 1 even lock to get me to rank 5. Even Shaman isn't invincible, just popular.

Avianna.
Naga Sea Witch
Patches and Raaza were also nerfed for wild, one could argue.
Kabal Crystal Runner
Can cost 0 easily. Clearly not insane. It's not Thing from Below that needs the Nerf treatment. But Flametongue Totem almost certainly does.
And Barnes. Because Barnes
4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔
Well i guess you are right,i had completely forgot about those nerfs lol...

Spot the Big Priest player.
Spoiler: It's OP.
Dad, husband, gamer, fueled by coffee.
Currently playing Dragon Galakrond Priest, Dragon Galakrond Warrior and Highlander Dragon Hunter.
With what deck? Bigpriest?
