It needs to be nerfed to 9 or 10 mana. 6 mana is way too strong for a card that allows them to come back from certain defeat or allows them to simply out value control decks.
Meanwhile, DK Garrosh costs 8. I don't know if anyone would have come up with something good for Garrosh at a lower cost, but it would have been nice to try it.
The problem with Rexxar is he turns every hunter deck into a late game deck. It totally obliterates any thought of deck identity because a hunter can All-in you and then play rexxar next turn and start playing the value game and that's flat stupid. If he was 8 mana or 9 mana, I'd be fine with that. 6 is far to low for the sheer value you get from him.
I agree it may not be op in paper but the fact that they get the minion the need in the situation almost every time.
He is on low health? Lifesteal rush, lifesteal rush, lifesteal rush
You are on low health? Charge, lifedrinker, charge, lifedrinker
Opponent is otk and has 8 cards in hand? King mukla, king mukla, king mukla
Big minions? Poisonous rush, poisonous taunt
I have had all of this happen to me. There just almost always a value minion to get.
And yeah there shouldnt be a card that by itself turns the games pure aggro class into one of the best control classes
This is so true. It's amazing how often they find the perfect card. You missed the one where the zombeast rushes with poison and hits 3 minions at once. That's especially fun.
You know how I know it is OP? I love when the Hunter plays his second Hero after Rexxar and gets that lousy 2 damage to any target hero power instead. Then I might actually have a chance to win.
When a Hunter can win the game with 15 Life and 5 Armor against a Priest with Alex on Board and 4 Mind Blasts in Hand, the card must be too strong. It’s a ridicolous Gambling Game hitting the needed Lifesteal-Beasts - and there is too much of them in Standard right now. Maybe Blizz should just change Rexxars Battlecry to: „Roll a dice: If 1-4: Win the Game, if 5-6: you lose and should think about playing a deck relying on Skill instead of luck“
Or just change this bullshit Card to 11 Mana. It’s by very far the most imbalanced and powerful Hero Card.
Sorry, but yes, he's OP... for 6 mana. Look at Jaina: she's far slower than him, and i would not put her power level beyond Rexxar. Yet she cost 9 mana instead of 6.
At 8 mana i think he would be OK.
And sorry OP: He's not so strong in wild BECAUSE the card pool there is MUCH MUCH higher. The change getting a poisonous beast there is much lower.
Even in wild this card is ridiculous. I played a hunter with my even lock and survived all his secrets and the spellstone. Finally I drew and got out my giants and turned the game around.
He had played rexxar and was close to being crushed facing 4 full hp giants on the board. Then he crafted a poisonous Dreadscale with stealth.

Oh the fun!
Oh yeah Dreadscale + poison is really OP in wild lol.
The problem with Deathstalker Rexxar isn't that he's overpowered. It's that he lets you build a 29 card deck to win fast games, then wins slow games on his own. That's bad card design.
this. so much this. i mean i stalled his whole game out with me control warrior deck, and he beat me with rexxar...

Well blame blizzard for not giving good aoe to hunter and rogues for all this time. They have to craft one of their own with the hero power lol.
Nobody's mentioned the other worst part of Deathstalker Rexxar—that the game slows to a snail's pace when (at least) one player is discovering two cards every turn.
Well it seems that Blizzard might be agreeing about the issue. Hunter is on the 'watch' list, which typically means the nerf bat is coming.
I stick to my standing: I don't have any issues with Blizzard changing hunter and there's plenty of room to do so that'll help things along, but I don't think the meta or the game will suffer anything horrible if things stay as is unlike, say, Raza threatening to ruin Wild or Pirate decks being dominate for yet another year after it gained prominence.
I feel that besides Rexx being op, Team 5 did everything possible for making Hunter OP.
First, Rexx Hero Power should change, maybe the first choice would be "Minions with no text" or making them cost 3 more mana than it should? Back when they announced it, it said that only one had effect or something similar, making it a bit more balanced. Nowadays you come across many.
Second, knowing that rexxar is OP, they decided to add Zul Jin and making it even more powerful. Big miss there Blizz...
I'm just bored playing against hunter... 35% of my last seasons games were against Hunters. Out of 9 possible classes, seems a lot.
It is OP because is insanely undercosted, only 6 manas for 5 armor, Consecrate + Infinite value is beyond broken level, this card don't be nerfed to 8 or even 9 manas after all this time is something hard to understand.
Paladin, warrior and rogue have much less powerful DK's and cost 8 and 9 manas.
It's weird playing wild now and every fourth deck is a standard hunter deck, or standard hunter with call of the wild thrown in. I don't really mind, it's just weird.
Eh, at this point the meta is so built around destroying hunters that I think its fine.
Whatdya know, people adapt.
Unpopular opinion: Rogue is OP
I'm tired of people hating on Rexxar - Rexxar is the only good and fun thing about hunter.

Said it on page 1 remove charge and rush from the pool of beasts nothing else needed.

Control is like Chess - using your given resources wisely.
Aggro is like Russian Roulette - Hope to topdeck the right card/ hope for the opponent to topdeck the wrong card.
Parallels to the IQ of the players of both games are, of course, coincidental ;)

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

WHY THIS CARD IS NOT NERFED???
It's weird playing wild now and every fourth deck is a standard hunter deck, or standard hunter with call of the wild thrown in. I don't really mind, it's just weird.
Rexxar is overpowered because he:
1. gives infinite value.
2. skips fatige
3. gives survival tools (cards generate can gain health and armour)
4. it's undercosted
5. it's in a class with the best early game
I will crush you!
