After taking a little break from the forum, I came to the conclusion Hearthstone is the best game in the world. Deceptively simple and insanely fun, other games seem like pure trash in comparison. The aesthetic, the gameplay (except if you are playing an aggro deck, of course...), the music, the sound effects,... everything is so awesome! Everything is so polished, it is mindblowing!!! I will never stop playing this game, and I'm sure you will not neither. Of course, this is just my humble and honest opinion, and I say this from the perspective of a game designer, so I wonder if you think the same, people. :)
I suppose the difficulty in answering this question (aside from the obvious subjectivity of any response) is to consider in which category (if any / all) it could be considered as the best. From the points you posit above, then perhaps it could be considered one of the best designed games maybe. And it is certainly very polished - though there are many other games that could also win this category as well. In terms of addictiveness, of course, I would rank it up there in the top 5 or so along with games like Candy Crush and Final Fantasy, etc. It's insanely addictive.
But I think that the bottom line of where I feel this game perhaps is lacking is in the enjoyment factor. The fundamental requirement for most (aside from weird artsy) games is that they are fun. That is what makes an activity a game. It's sense of enjoyment. And Hearthstone does not always deliver in this respect. And the addictiveness paired with the frustration at the game can make it feel like a chore - most likely emphasised by the daily grind that you are forced into which becomes more like an irritating task you have to get through each day. You never come away from a game of Candy Crush wanting to hunt down some scum in Russia who just cheated their way to victory thanks to a stupid OP piece of sh....-**** --- umm, yeah you get the point. :-)
So that's my opinion, anyway! :-D
