Is it reaching rank 5? Is it reaching legend on the last day of the season? Is it reaching legend while being a dad? Is it becoming a legendary father?
I've heard the term referenced, but someone please tell me the true definition of "dad legend".
I could be wrong, but I thought it was that you're a dad that gets Legend by the following, example criteria: You work during the week, you have kids, etc
Dad legend is hitting rank 5. Thusly named because of the amount of time it takes to hit legend and the distinct lack of free time that most fathers have. As a father to a four year old, I can attest that the lack of much time for yourself is very real. Still worth it though.
As a father of two it's the rank I aim to achieve each month. Once you get to rank 5 the rewards are the same as Legend I believe or at least not much in it.
You lose the win streak bonuses above rank 5 so it takes a LOT longer to go from 5 to legend than 10 to 5 for example. For that reason it's dubbed dad legend as you dont always have the time to grind to legend.

I have 5 children. I reach rank 5 every month. Having reached legend a few times in the past I no longer have any desire to waste my time on the simple grind to reach legend any more. I like using my free time on things like carpentry (I make furniture) and in my music studio.
I'm happy for the term "Dad Legend" to reflect this :-)
I am a Dad, though even when I wasn't a Dad my care to reach legend was minimal. You could call rank 5 the "I got better things to do with my time legend".
Having said that, with the way resets work now, if you did reach legend, getting back there from rank 5 isn't much of a grind.

I can attest to this as well, but also add in a two-year old with the four(almost five)-year old. I want to hit legend some day and pretty sure I could, but dad legend is all my time allows (I also run a f2p account which I grind to rank 5 each season in case my little ones care to play one day :P).
I get to rank 5 in a couple hours starting from rank 9.
You're telling me that as a dad you can't play like 40-50 games in a month ?
This ^
I put in about an hour or two a day starting at rank 4 and usually get legend at the mid point of the second week of the season. It doesn't actually take that many games as long as you don't rush your turns and think logically about each of your plays, weighing up your options and thinking about the opponent's counter plays. A LOT of 5-L players just see the obvious move and make it immediately, and there is so much sub-optimal play in the 5-L bracket that maintaining a win rate considerably higher than 50% is not very hard at all as long as you have a solid deck and can pilot it correctly. Players in this bracket are also the most exploitable in my experience, you can view their entire deck list on Vicious Syndicate and no one tilts harder or faster than a player trying to grind legend from 5. That said, 10-5 should be significantly easier due to skill disparity an sub-optimal card choices.

Reaching any goals set for yourself should be considered an achievement.
I agree with you in regards to getting to rank 5 from 9.
I will say though, at least from my experience as a father of two, that you're talking about an ideal scenario. I frequently skip seasons or go weeks without playing (which means I start some seasons in the lower ranks) simply because I can't find the time. This isn't to say that because I'm a parent that I just have absolutely no time, just that my free time is limited between work and parenting and I choose to spend any spare time doing other things.
When I do consistently play, I can only manage an hour or two 4-5 nights a week, maybe. I play control decks primarily as well, so an hour is only about two games. The reality is, for me at least, it could take almost two weeks to hit 50 games played. I'll probably hit legend at some point but at the moment rank 5 is my goal every month and to hit it is an achievement.

Favourite cards by rarity: Deathwing / Leeroy Jenkins, Doomsayer, Undercity Huckster, Blood Imp

Do I suck at Hearthstone? Most likely.

As a father of 3, exactly this.
Father of 1, my dad legend is currently rank 15! Only been able to make it once since they changed it to 5 stars every rank!
There's also doctor legend which is hitting top four in European playoffs while completing your PhD.
I have 5 children.
I reach rank 5 every month.

Thanks for the clarification. I am a dad and I hit rank 5 every month. Glad to know that I am a Dad Legend!
Father of 17 here. I totally agree!

What a good constructive post right there. Well done, fellow rank 20 player.
Rank 5 actually but nice to see you freely admit to rank 20. Not so easy after all eh!
