Hi guys, being a hardcore HS player seems motivated for me. I set my next goal to reach Legend with Mage and Warrior, also complete my golden Hero collection with Anduin and Jaina left. Do u set your goal to keep up with the game or just pure fun with Yogg-like stuffs?
I play now mainly to reach a goal, which is to collect all golden portraits. (Three remaining)
Now that I think about it, this is probably why it hasn’t been as much fun lately. On the bright side, hunter is a class I still need golden and it’s op right now.
The goal I play for is to have fun! Lately I've been just making C'Thun decks in just about every class for the memes and trying my best to terrorize the lower ranks of Wild with them. Not a new idea, but I build an Aviana + Kun + Brann + C'Thun + Zola + C'Thun + C'Thun Druid the other night, and while it's not consistent in winning games, it is SO much fun!
Playing the game if focuses on fun can risk you to play a bad card over a good card, I think that's what you mean by yogg-like stuff. Definitely not. But obviously, if you're not playing the game for fun, you're probably doing it wrong. Yes even playing competitively can actually be mean fun, just saying here.
To be honest i kinda envy people who are determined to unlock all golden heroes. I mean i have played the game since vanilla, reached legend countless times and i still have only 4 golden heroes lol.

I'm the same actually.. Hell, I have three Golden Heroes and only 39 wins with Druid.. 😬
Lol 😂 goals shit I hit rank 16 and then fell all the way back 18 lol I never try for legend cause u have to play boring net decks that a 4 yr can pilot I am all for fun I do my quest when I feel like it. The player base in this game makes me want to go to there house and shoot them cause the person fucking ropes on the simplest plays. Stop acting like ur some pro player in tournament and play ur dam deck .
Beside 5 ladderwins per season for the cardback and the daily quests (which I do by creating a deck to just quickly finishin the quest) I am Trying to play for fun but as soon as I encounter a t1 netdeck for the 3rd time in a row in CASUAL I close hearthstone and open MTGA till the next day
It's more fun for me when there's a goal I have to achieve. The recent one I completed was gaining a golden Warrior portrait, and my next goals are to take Paladin and Hunter to 500 wins by the end of the year (I don't play every day).
I have 3 more heroes to grind out to golden so that's been my goal. I also try to play fun off-meta decks for those classes. Treant druid has been barely competitive at rank 5 but it's quite fun.
I THINK you were after something other than 'goals'. Just about everyone sets goals. The question is WHAT goals.
For example, my goal is to make 2 decks for every class in each expansion that I like to play. I can hand craft them or netdeck them: doesn't matter so long as "I" enjoy them. After that, I see how well they do on the meta. I try to get them all to work but if they fail that's fine so long as I saw their potential. Note that rank literally has no bearing here.
Probably the better question is "Do you play to compete or play for fun?" Which basically means whether you are a Spike or a Johnny/Timmy

You shouldn't envy them. You're probably like me and just don't care about that particular achievement so therefore never went out of our way to get them. Simply winning on ranked isn't exactly skill intensive, just a lot of grinding
IMO, reaching legend a bunch of times without triggering golden heroes is an achievement in itself. It means you get there with speed and high winrates and/or without having all 9 classes available to you when they might be most powerful; it's a challenge to win the 'game' with the least amount of moves, so to speak
I want to collect viable wild decks for my favorite classes while remaining F2P, and after that build at least semi-viable decks for the other classes. Every month I make sure to get rank 5 for that sweet 400 dust, while completing quests with the decks I find fun to play :)

I try and make a new deck and try my best for a season, then either stay with that deck or move on and make another list.
If I hit legend or not doesn't bother me anymore

It's a game. It should be fun. Simple.
4/3/19 RIP Keith Flint. 😔

Sometimes skill is equal to fun.
I like elementals and totems.

Depends. Am I trying to reach a ladder benchmark quickly so I can stop playing ladder sooner? Use a more consistent deck.
Am I playing at a ladder benchmark or playing in casual? Meme up my opponents with a 9 card rogue OTK, while bming any rude players I face.

I play for fun that's what games are made for !
Both! I aim to hit rank 5 asap, and then I just screw around for fun.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
