so what is everyone’s opinions of deaths knights for this game since they have been released and all of the exp. since then. Do you think they were a good idea to add to the game or the worse mistake they could of made.
I like them but I'm a fan of incredibly powerful late game cards that you build your deck around. The only issue I would say is that they're so much better than other late game cards they don't have much competition so most of the death knights are an auto include for any control deck and you don't even consider anything else.
I am more than glad once they rotate out. The powerlevel was simply way too high, combined with a lot from the past year. They were interesting and fun to play, yes, but not healthy.
I love hero cards, but the DKs... they are to strong in every value circumstance. Jaina,Uther, malfurion and Guldan are run in every control deck, even decks without elementals/demons/exodia cards. and then there are cards like deathseer thrall, who are just to weak to hold with the other hero cards. I am happy when they rotate out, altough this will push aggro.
I think the card idea is really cool and I'm happy they're keeping printing hero cards, but some of the ones released with KotFT are clearly unbalanced thus negative for the game
It depends on the specific death knight card. I like the ones that have big flashy effects, while also not being an auto include.
Deathseer thrall, for example, is really cool, trying to mix and match evolves in a specific sequence to maximze the value of your deck.
Dr boom is another one where its a balancing act of if you even want to change hero powers, since its not as good as the upgraded tank up in the matchups where you are behind in tempo, but good in ones where tempo is marginal or overwhelmingly in your favor.
Im on the fence about rexxar. On one hand I have been DYING for a control hunter since literally day 1. On the other hand, the card is so powerful even aggro and tempo decks are running it.
A bad idea overall? No. Individual ones being a mistake that should never have been printed? Absolutely.
Although they are very fun to play with, they can feel really bad to play against.
The problem is they increase META Polarization, and so rise many match ups that feel decided by deck building alone.
People don't want that. They want to feel like their decision can influence the result of the game (this rarely is the case but still people want to feel like they had a chance as opposed to be obliterated).
On the other hand, a perfectly balanced game would (probably) be boring.
Developers need to somehow keep players excited so they keep on playing. They need to do some cool stuff but without powerful effects this simply can't be done.
Imagine a game mode where you can only play with balanced vanilla minions. Would that be considered cool by most people ? Of course not.
You have to add effects to make the game more interesting, but the cooler the effect the more likely is to be broken in some scenario.
Not all deathknights were bad. Rexxar and jaina are just too good. Problem is that those have basically no downside in using them in almost any deck. Such powerful cards should have built up tactic to be useful and not just be very veod on them own.
Good idea and nice to see them as powerful cards but like others said, some of them are too powerful and Warrior death knight is just absolute garbage. You pay 8 mana for a weapon you could get for 5 mana (supercollider altho they act a lil different) and you get a hero power that in most cases is worse than your regular one if going to late game.
But I gotta say I can't remember if I have ever been so hyped when they were announced. I was hoping for a good priest one since I had played highlander priest for months before that and was pleased. Also I was gonna craft a control lock depending on the death knight and oh boy what a death knight it was
I never crafter the control lock tho lmao I was too busy playing priest
I think they were fine yes they were a wee bit overpowered but they were fun to use. I mean not all where that good I mean paladin won hasn’t been used until now the only one that I see as played a lot is rexxer jania also is used more now then b4 priest one was better b4 the nerf warrior I have not seen in ages nor the shaman one rogue only play for meme decks
Since The Frozen throne epxansion launch it was big succese and even still to dis day, becouse of the legendary DeathKnight heros.
Yes , some are extreamly powerful ( frost lich Jaina and Deathstalker Rexxar and more) some not realy (the warrior one) , but a lot of them have realy huge role in the meta even to this day.To be honest i think Blizzard make good choice by printing those cards.

Uther of the Ebon Blade has no downside and it took almost 2 years to reach tier 1 status, only to fall the next meta report...
Hero cards were one of the best things to happen to the game. Death knights, however, were too strong, and made it so you often needed them to play that class. I'm not sorry they were added though. They were bound to mess up on their first try.
DKs were a good idea. Every DK has been fun to use, and that goes a long way.
But even good ideas can have an expiration date. I think we've had DKs too long, and they aren't fun anymore. Or at least, not enough fun. On with more rotations!
I love the idea and I'm hoping more hero cards keep coming. They just need to be more balanced toward other hero cards. DK Rexxar is the most unbalanced because of it's cost to effect ratio. He creates more value than any other DK, even Jaina, but is the second cheapest and has a great battle cry to go with it.
no. Fun to play with but too overpowered with almost no drawback. Jaraxxus was the perfect example of a hero card that was powerful but had a huge drawback. The power creep is just too much atm

It was a bad idea tbh, they are too powerful most of the time and will be a huge problem even when they rotate

Any powerful card brings controversy.

IMO, dk jaina and warlock are OP individually without need other support
the rest are fine, dk shaman i think it is under powered
