I have always played control or combo decks. The only time I remember touching some midrange or aggro was Mech Mage back in the day or Tunnel Trogg ShamanStone (meme decks I don't know even how to categorize since they are so weird and can be all over the place).
Disclaimer: I only play decks I enjoy playing. There might be a better deck to play but if I don't enjoy it I won't play it or there might be personal reasons for not playing it and example for this: I played Taunt Druid a lot before Witching Hour was printed but after it was and Taunt Druid became meta I stopped playing it cause I didn't like how my sweet innocent deck became a hated deck. (let me be a cringy unique snowflake)
Last season I tried to climb with Shirvallah OTK Paladin and Even Mecha'thun Warlock (didn't know that non even version is better) in standard but I got to only rank 16 and I just couldn't break the cap to rank 15. In wild I tried to climb with Reno Heal Paladin but climb ended at 18-16 or so.
Btw I do think those decks should be fine to climb with, they aren't like bad.
In the end I was so extremely frustrated that I decided I would switch to some meta aggro/midrange deck only to break the rank 15 cap I couldn't reach. I picked Even Shaman in standard, made a deck and missed a few cards so I put some tech stuff there and what happened...I went to rank 13 in a 1 big win streak from rank 16 with a deck I had never played while I struggled at lower ranks with decks I had tens of hours in already. I hadn't genuinely felt so happy in a long time not getting stomped at every single que I go. I still stick to my control but maybe now I will start to respect every archetype and not just my own.
TLDR: If you are losing, sometimes you should maybe switch from your bread and butter and maybe try a different archetype or maybe that tier 1 aggro deck you despise and have raged from it at the salt thread. Sometimes what you need to cheer you up is a little winning to clear your mind from the salt.
So if I want to climb the ladder I should play Tier 1 decks and not janky homebrews... Thanks for dropping that knowledge bomb.
I don't know how Shirvallah OTK or Even Mechthun Warlock are considered homebrewn? The Reno Heal one I can say is sort of since I made 2 archetypes into one. And my point wasn't to switch to that tier 1 meta deck completely, just play them a little to clear your mind.
It doesn't change the fact that the last expansion was terrible for the most part and the last round of nerfs killed a lot of the variety of the meta.
Hunter is obviously massively over tuned as are some of the aggro decks despite the nerfs. So we have our polarised meta of aggro, heavy control and otk combo of which there are only a handful of good decks for each type.
I hate everything that wins against me and i cri everi tiem i see hunters!! also i spread my negativity in forums

how on earth are the nerfs, and hunters relevant to anything OP said??

Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.
Good words. I was a hardcore handlock players back in the days. Hated aggro players, considered them stupid and badmouthed them. But the longer I played the game, the more I realized aggro decks are quite fun and actually quite complex in playstyle, you need to constanly play around board clears and removal. In aggro vs aggro it is all about right trading, that makes you think a lot.
And aggro decks are less tilting than control decks, where you can completely go mad simply cause you did not draw that 1 removal that would have won you the game and your opponent did not even play around that removal. That gets you frustrated.
And with aggro deck you can just chill, have fun and win games at the same times.
T1 decks are tuned decks with strong sinergy and and a solid plan. You must play them or counter them to have success, that's all.
In this hearthstone era you have some decks that have "infinite" value, decks that can skip fatige like kingsbane and DMH, decks that can OTK, and decks that have strong powerplays (hunter spellstone, kathrena, weapon+voidlord/doomguard+cube, barnes) and some with very agresive start like zoo or even shaman in wild. It's impossible to have a fair winrate against all of them so you have to choose your archtype to counter the local meta in your rank or just mirror them.
I'm quite bored of HS at the moment due to infinite value generators like rexxar and those "fun and interactive" OTKs. Those archtypes are leading the meta and keep control out as it is an autoloose.
I know what you are talking about. I also play the decks I like and for some reason I try to avoid aggro/face decks. I tried doing what you did. When I’m stuck losing with my control I pick up fast decks like secret hunter or odd rogue in anger. I usually have better winrate then but I just can’t stand playing the same cards turn 1-4 each game just to lose to one aoe sometimes.
So I come back to the slower decks I like and I’m not angry anymore because I enjoy being able of chosing different strategies and having more possible plays each turn.
1 aoe kills your gameplan? Try playing spell hunter. They will need about 5 aoes before t10 and then zul'jin will appear to crush your dreams and kill your big minions now that your finally stabilised and got board control.
Imagine going on nearly every thread and commenting about a deck that isn't even tier 1. You do know that we have a salt thread, right bud?
Because he's trying to put a positive spin on a shitty meta. His solution is just play the handful of cancer meta decks.
Not all of us enjoy that. I've always been able to do well with my off meta decks. Tier 2-3 stuff and have fun doing it even if I was only averaging slightly above 50% win rate. Most of those decks are now dead and can't possibly get even close to 50%.
The game is broken. Killing shudderwock and druid was a mistake. Not nerfing hunter and actually improving them while nerfing some of their counters even more was mistake.
why should you care if he wants to be happy? why do you feel the need to put a damper on his positive spirit? just let him enjoy the game, and if you dont, then keep it to yourself.

Eh it is tier 1 along with at least 3 other hunter decks and I will keep complaining about it until it's fixed.
It's main downfall is it's can't compete vs the more aggressive hunter decks. The best way to counter hunter is hunter.
False, it's tier 2 beyond a shadow of doubt. Cube and midrange hunter are the only tier 1 hunter decks (midrange hunter is inbetween 1 and 2). The main counter to hunter is odd paladin, which is (heavily) favored against every single hunter archetype right now.
Are your whiny posts based on stats you pulled out of your ass?

Everything that OP said went straight over your head. Anyway please contain your salt and rants about Hunters in GJ Team 5. It's leaking everywhere.

Eh cube hunter stopped being tier 1, there's a reason you don't see it much anymore. The other hunter decks crush it. I see at least 5 times more spell hunters than cube hunters this expansion.
"Cube hunter stopped being tier 1" -> the literal best deck in the game right now.
Guess we've got a good old case of madcuzbad, huh? How can someone spread this much negativity while being so misinformed... It's pretty amazing, really.

I have always been this person and I see your point. I don't like the thought of "counter them or join them" but I found it somewhat enjoyable. I actually a made a thread about hunter being OP and stuff a few weeks ago after I saw 1 of Kripparrians videos.

You know a class is broken when that is the case.
Stop complaining child.. the archetype will be dead from standard in 3 months
Let hunter shine for 3 months
Ok I'm a child for complaining about a game I love when there are clearly major issues with the design path chosen.
We have 1 class with 4+ tier 1 decks and over 30% played rate and it's not ok for me to complain about that? The classes that got nerfed into the ground were nowhere near this.
You do realise that whenever big nerfs happen, there is always a class that will rise from that ?
This is what happened a few months ago with cubelock until they nerfed it.
Anyway as I said, in 3 months the spellstones will be gone along side the DK.. which is why it doesn't require nerfs rn.
So after years you still couldn't break the rank 15 ?
I don't think your deck is the problem here.
I don't consider myself a bad player more of an above average. Like I said I never really play meta decks so climbing is difficult for me and I have never been super competitive, I'm happy to be rank 20 or 15 by the end of the month. I'm mostly an arena player and have an average of 5-6 wins or so there.
