I went on a wee hiatus for a few months, there's a new set out and I know nothing about it.
would any of you wonderful fellows give me a quick run down of what's what, please?
I got a rogue legendary shark dude that eats stuff and a warlock one from my freebies. I play those classes so hopefully it's a jumping off point for me.
Looking by the way the stats are though on the front page, looks like maybe rogue and warlock are not the best classes to be playing right now?
Any advice to help me get back into the swing of things would be greatly appreciated.
It's your New Years resolution to come back to Heathstone? :P
nah? I didn't say that, did I?
I said I have just came back to check out the new cards.. and asked what is good right now and basically wanted a run down of the new gimmicks and stuff.

I think I am missing like all the legendaries though, so might be another swerve for me till new cards come out. need to work with what I have or to build something with realistic goals. definitely don't wanna get into dusting stuff, ha ha... that never ends well.
Good: Clone priest is a new combo deck. Cubelock is back. The latest expansion currently has 5(!) tier 1 legendaries. Mage is back after the Mana Wyrm nerf and Warrior is good again. You can play many different styles of decks, from aggro to combo via control. The new postnerf meta is not solved yet.
Bad: Hunter is OP, especially Lesser Emerald Spellstone. Wild is dominated by a few extremely strong decks. Druid is almost removed from the game.

do you think the dragon/odd warrior decks are OK? I might try and build something like that. It just depends how many cards I would need to get something working.
Also what about control lock or a fast rogue deck?

Odd warrior is strong, several versions. Fast rogue (odd or tempo pirates) work, but idk about general controllock in Standard. Evenlock or cubelock are better.

thanks. I could build an even lock, but I dusted some key cubelock pieces when I really wanted to get rogue cards. I don't regret it as it was the only way I could play what I wanted to at the time.
I have mostly played warlock so giving up 1 warlock archetype to play another class was worth it, especially since the pogo rogue and mech death rattle decks that emerged in the last expansion were a lot of fun to play.
.... did some of those cards get nerfed, or just not enough support to stay viable in the new expac? I did really hope those archetypes would get more support. as long as they haven't been nerfed though there's always a chance for them to become good again I guess. (I'm guessing the annoy-o-tron factor got shut down though? it was insane when you used it with sonya)
It would be cool to play some warrior though if I can get something off the ground. I am missing all the stuff like brawls and that though so would have to work to towards building this while playing rogue or warlock most likely.
I can probs build optimal rogue and lock decks though so it's not like I won't be able to play.
you think odd warrior can work without ysera. it's the only expensive card I'm missing from the one I'm seeing in tier lists.
Yeah I certainly believe you’ll be fine. I personally think ysera is a little too slow for this meta anyway. Experiment with your own modifications to meta decks, and you will likely eventually find yourself scoring more wins then before. Copy and pasting decks from tempostorm or icyveins is very convenient, but running your own variants on decks will catch your opponent off guard and make you less predictable.
You are on a website that took great time to lay out all the new cards in this latest expansion. You can even look at decks made by the community members to see what is what and how the current meta is playing out. How about you stop being lazy and expecting some sort of Welcome back party and do your own research rather than be a pleb with posts like this.
These are the decks I face pretty often in both formats - Pick your poison
Standard - Big Spell Mage / Odd Mage, Odd Warrior / Quest / Dragon Varriant, Many degenerate hunter decks , Cube/Zoolock , Even Paladin, Combo Priest ,
Wild - Odd Rogue, Even / Jade Rogue, Death Rattle Rogue , Even Shaman, Odd Paladin, Big Priest , Renolock, Mech Hunter.
thanks dude.
I'm looking at a few possible ideas for rogue decks at the minute. just need to go and play some games and see what I face mostly before I can put anything solid together though.

Will be sure to take this into consideration in the future :)
The recent nerfs changed the meta much more than the expansion IMO. Make sure to dust those nourishes before the refund period ends. It's great for returning players because you can mostly just use your old decks without new cards as long as it didn't get nerfed
Despite the nerfs on a lot of the combo decks, value decks like dragon warrior are still bad. The matchup with the now-super popular hunters is still poor due to their sticky midrange pressure and DK endgame. There's still lots of combo decks running around, just different ones like exodia paladin and APM priest. Odd quest warrior is the only competition odd warrior right now because it actually does things to end the game
Warlock is in a decent spot because of hellfire lining with with wolves. Cube, even and zoo are very viable and even Mecha'thunlock has showed up in some tournaments. Controlock is still bad if you run combo disruption because you're going to lose to things like quest warrior and DK Rexxar, which sucks

I dusted my nourishes and my level up's as well. the level ups got me enough dust to craft a new legendary (the one in my avatar) I now have my secret weapon for killing greedy decks and stuff. ha ha.
I need to check out that hellfire/wolf thing though for lock. I'm currently playing a rogue deck, but warlock has always been my favourite class in this game so would be nice to have something new... I feel lock has been stagnant for a long time now. decks are almost always the same and rarely require new cards.
I think the control lock deck doesn't use much from the past 2 expansions. granted it got a few tricks.
I guess after the rotation this year it will seriously shake things up... I think it will be my first time hanging on to my wild cards as I seriously could not dust all my legendaries for lock and rogue, they're too good and have brought far too many great memories. it might be a good time for me to look into playing wild I guess at this point.
PS: please check out my new deck (sig deck) feedback and or upvotes/downvotes appreciated.... well tbh downvotes aren't appreciated. if someone doesn't like it I'd prefer they talk to me in the comments than downvote me... buy hey, it's not up to me what other people do. I'd just be happy for the discourse.
EDIT: btw how are you man? not spoke in a little while there. I won faeria in a giveaway on here and ended up sinking a couple of months into that, then I got a ps4 to play red dead 2 and caught up on bloodborne, persona 5 and god of war and stuff. back at the HS for the 2019 though for sure. I have a feeling it will be a good year for the sport.
