My opinion is: Spells shouldnt be about "i put them into your face, toggling like 1/5 of your life with 4 mana". Fireball is a leeroy jenkins who cost 4. This is bullshit.
I 'd rather nerfWater Elemental ,the card is op, 4 mana 3/6....and can freeze even heroes?? Nerfing Water Elemental will indirectly nerf DK Jaina which is a good idea.
*Sigh* please somebody post about how all card games have, and to varying degrees, need some card "staples". Anyone besides me? No? Okay, fine.
I played Yu-Gi-Oh for many many years and during that time learned the highs & lows of card staples. Many were busted (Delinquent Duo, Mirror Force, MoF, etc) and made a quarter to almost half of some decks the same, but other staples kind of were needed to make some themed decks consistent, or work period.
Hearthstone also has staples. In fact, it NEEDS staples. Classes have very specific themes (and yes I know the class themes have gone through many schizophrenic/bipolar metamorphoses, except for rogue because let's face it they will forever be kept a tempo-based class *sigh*), but classes without certain support cards (ie staples) don't make the theme work very well without those staple cards. Picture hunter, it has a very intentionally designed smorc hero power. No it was not the evil community that made hunters a smorc class. Now, imagine if you took every, or most, smorc staples away & just left it with the hero power. No KC, no hounds, no summoning of a random huffer, no bow. Would there be much of a point of having the hero power that was given to the class then? Sure, you could argue; "Hey! Let's just nerf or rotate all of the old hunter smorc staples and give hunters new ones to spice things up!" Well yeah you could do that, but then one could argue why we even nerfed/hofed the old staples if we were just going to more or less give hunters the same cards, just with slightly different effects, names, or conditions.
Staples are also needed because classes have strengths & weaknesses. Look at rogue for example. NO AOE!!!!!!!
*Ahem* Rogues lack aoe. As a result they need some other strength to make up for that glaring weakness. One of the results of that are high tempo single answers/removal (sap, evisc, etc). If we listened to random people on the internet that don't like class staples and say, nerfed or removed sap, then rogue as a class begins falling apart more quickly. It lacks aoe and then you suddenly start chipping away at the strengths that were given to the class to make up for it due to someone being salty about losing to their taunt or tempo being taken away one game due to Sap. Apply this to any class that uses one or more of the same cards in many decks of that class. Staples aren't always staples because they are OP, they are more often staples because it is one of, if not the only card that strengthens the class by doing what it does.
This is why I was against the nerf to Wild Growth. They've now set the precedent to nerf Basic cards, and everyone's gonna come out of the woodwork to call for nerfs to iconic cards they just lost to.
Get better as a player.
The one time I feel we can agree.
I'd love to force HS players play another card game and sh*t themselves as they go for long stretches of months without whining to have their every whim catered to their micro managed vision of what they came should be.
I just can't wait for the next expansion/set of nerfs.

I think mage has taken enough pain from the nerf bat for a while. The biggest offender is their DK, and that rotates soon anyway. So does the quest, if exodia is what is breaking your heart.
I know any mage deck in meta. Maybe in future can Blizz nerf fireball (ex. 4 to 5 mana)? They are trying to reduce classic and basic cards usage.
I think all of you are getting baited. OP is probably trolling and just salty about the wild growth nerf. Possibly fiery war axe and other past nerfs too. Maybe OP should have used river crocolisk as the nerf target for real to make it more clear :P
Memes aside, I understand trying to refresh things for a class, about Classic set, but instead of killing any Basic cards, they could just make use of HoF some more.
And take a completely different design path for new cards, if they're seriously worried that a class might stick with one same core forever in Wild. Instead of pushing that said core to its obviously unbearable limits (ie UI + SP in Druids... just to obliterate Ramp thereafter).
I’m not sure why you’d say Mage doesn’t exist right now? I’ve been facing Mages upon Mages in the last three to four days. Granted, I’m at rank 20, but still, lots of Mages. And they’re all either running an Odd Frost Lich combination or a freeze-Antonidas OTK.
As for nerfing Fireball, OP, I don’t think they should do it. It’s a great little tool for newcomers and that class of player need a lot of hand-holding right now because of several issues . I also think increasing it’s cost will lead to Odd Mage as it currently stands becoming as powerful as Secret-Spell Hunter, if not more.

this is why i think "prep limits rogue spells" argument is retarded. it is what rogue does. why it would limit upcoming cards lol.
druid having ramp didnt make them holdback on draw cards. look at ui and branch and spreading etc etc.
warlock aoe kills their own minions but doesnt matter if you summon them right away lol.
They should stop nerfing classic and basic cards! They should move them to hall of fame if anything. The best thing would be to rotate the classic/basic set. Druid could as an example have some periods with both Wild Growth and Nourish at (2) and (5) mana and some periods with one of them or non of them. Then they could rotate Wild cards in to replace them. This would also mean that Priest could have a different board clear in basic/classic set, so they did not have to print a new one, then one is about to move to wild. And no, I do not think it would be to confussion!
Is nerfing the only thing people know? Has anybody never wanted to buff cards ?? Nerfing inconic cards such as fiery war axe, wild growth and so on is really bad and i acctually hoped blizzard would have stoped witch that after fwa. Put it in hall of fame and replace it right away with a new card but why destroying a iconic key card that defines a class identity - i mean really.
Fireball is a very strong card, especially when compared to Pyroblast. Why spend 10 mana to deal 10 when you can spend 10 mana to deal 13 instead? The basic set is somehow one of the strongest, with cards from it being a staple in many decks past and present. (Mind Blast)
I know any mage deck in meta. Maybe in future can Blizz nerf fireball (ex. 4 to 5 mana)? They are trying to reduce classic and basic cards usage.
I'll admit this is the first time I've seen someone request a nerf to Fireball. That's new.
But in fairness, you don't appear to present any actual reason for such a nerf other than the idea that Blizzard is trying to make classic and basic cards get used less. That is hardly a reason to nerf a card unless it were a card that is used in every archetype for a class (such as cards like Nourish, etc were for druid).
NO :D

Wild growth wasn't nerfed, now it doesn't share the slot with Keleseth so you can include one more broken card in the deck Kappa
I will crush you!
I havent seen Fireball been used in Constructed Mage for atleast 3 expansions - No it does not need a nerf.

Yes let's nerf a Tier 3 class even farther. Let's take that one last good evergreen card they have and make it useless.
gtfo -.-
i really hope this is a troll.

How it should be
Druid = ramp
hunter = beastsynergy
Mage=best spells
rogue = tempo and combokeyword
warlock=distruption and healthsacrifice for tempo
priest = best heals
shaman = totemsynergy and evolve
paladin = silverhand recruit and divineshield
warrior = best weapons

they already nerf mana wyrm and ice block, what can you expect? exodia or freeze mage is not even in the meta right now
