Balanced and popular are in no way related subjects.
Blizzard is not out to balance the popularity of a deck. If 100% of the player base want to slam their heads into hunter mirror matchups, that does not speak to game balance.
Of course, this in no way describes the reality of ladder, but even if it did, that's not a balance issue.

Helpful Clarification on Forbidden Topics for Hearthstone Forums:
Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
This is just a salt thread for players who until recently played Kingsbane Rogue, Odd Paladin, and Druid. I get it, having to find a new deck sucks but if you play this game, get used to it. Blizzard has long embraced a strategy of 'taking turns' as their primary method of balance. Take solace in the fact that hunter won't be king of the hill forever (not that it actually is). Although they nerf decks that a lot of people play, they don't nerf them because a lot of people play them. Read the first line of #43 to understand why.

Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
So play secret disruption and counterspell? Or the card that makes spells cost 2 more? It’s really not hard to counter a deck if you’re queuing into it nearly 50% if the time.

Except they aren't looking for a way to counter it, no need for a thread to do that - as you mention a variety of counters exist, including running hunter and just outplaying the people who recently adopted the class and are unfamiliar with the decks. These threads are about someone's favorite decks being removed from the game and they see another group of people enjoying themselves. Was it fair that I had to queue into Druid for months and watch them play Branching Paths every match, indulgently puzzling over the choices, every time like they had never seen the card before? Maybe, maybe not, but if they are looking for sympathy, they have come to the wrong place.

Dibbity don't touch that!
I love when the meta shifts one way, you just have to lean the other and rack up the win.
If you tool against Hunter and face them over 65% of the time, you will get a great win rate.
