So I am playing a lot of discard lock in wild at the moment, and just happened to hit an interaction I did not expect. I am playing against a secret hunter and with my Clutchmother Zavas I set off a Freezing Trap, so my Clutchmother Zavas returns to my hand with a +2 cost, no big deal. I did then proceed to discard the Clutchmother Zavas but then it returned still containing the +2 mana cost. I did not expect this and should the interaction be like that?
Note. My guess is that this happens due to the text on Clutchmother Zavas which states return it to your hand. But it still left the hand so should the effect of Freezing Trap still be applied?
It's like the new card.. Jelik or whatever its called, it discards the card but the mechanic makes it so that it never gets discarded. So in reality it never leaves the hand, which is why it remained at 4 mana.

So I could in theory end up with a hand of 6 cost High Priestess Jeklik as the duplicate also would have the added cost?

I'm not sure if this is useful to you, but Jeklik also copies buffs as well as mana costs. If you discard a 5/6 Jeklik, you get two new ones with those stats.
