Hello guys, how you doing? I've been playing Hearthstone F2P for a long time, but lately I've been spending some real time on it. I bought the new expansion and was able to craft Zul'jin and Oondasta with some disenchants (I play mainly as hunter and even lock).
I am missing some important cards from older exps, like Zilliax and some heroes cards (pally, warrior and rogue) so I can change decks a bit. Should I just buy the new exp cards and disenchant them to craft these older cards?
Because buying classic packs, or even boomsday packs looking for these cards doesn't feel the right thing to do...
If you're on a budget, I'd say that Zilliax is worth straight up crafting and I would disenchant whatever I needed to (aside from key cards in other decks I wanted to play) in order to do it. It's one of those legendaries that doesn't look like much but provides solid value in any deck even without mech synergy.
The Rogue Deathknight provides a ton of value in the late game and allows for some pretty cool combos with Zola.
The Paladin Deathknight gives some good healing with the weapon and is the reason the OTK combo is possible but otherwise it's not really needed. You could just run Tirion or Lich King.
The Warrior Deathknight never really made it. The "while damaged" synergy didn't quite happen and if you've made it to that turn, you've probably already beaten Odd Paladin. Odd Warrior with Dr. Boom is just better.
Generally if all you are after are the legendaries, you probably are best with the idea you have: buy packs of what you want to buy and rely on dust to craft from other sets. So yes, I'd do that for Zill. Though note that buying boomsday packs is the same thing as buying Rumble packs as they have the same lifespan, so don't let 'it's older' get in your way.
The Deathknights though.... ehhhhh. Are you able to hold out just a little while longer? They all go away in the spring and that'll mean a whole new set of cards, new and old, to rely on instead. If you can at all sustain yourself with making decks from cards you have and crafting/buying from Witchwood/Boomsday/Rumble instead then that'll help you a lot more in the long run.
Dont forget that you get a legendary in the first 10 packs of every Expansion if you havent done that already go for it.
In the following i am assuming, that you play mostly Standart, not wild.
I would advice to buy card packs from the last three sets (ww, bdp, rr) because they will be for another year in standart.
From those three always buy packs from the expansion you have the least amount of cards from and switch to buying packs from another expansion after opening a legendary (because of the pity timer).
If you really want some of the cards from the sets that rotate with the next Expansion (koft, jtu, k&k) then craft those with the dust from the duplicates you got from the new packs.
I am pretty sure this is the optimal way to get the max value for your money in the long term.
Buy the new expansion cards and get your pity timer or first ten packs on Boomsday and Witchwood. I'd forget about the DKs for now. There are plenty of decks to play without them.
One thing that nobody ever mentions is that you can go through cards you have that will rotate out and find the ones that are absolute crap and you will never play. Get rid of them. you'll get maybe 1 or 2 cards out of it and it will improve the decks you want to play.
Again find the decks you think you can craft and you want to play and craft those 1 or 2 cards you need.
I always work on getting the legendaries from the new set and will disenchant a lot of garbage to get them.
