People who rope are stupid, but a report system for this game... with the ammount of saltbags playing not a good idea. Usually I watch something on youtube or twitch while playing HS, so it just gives me more time to follow that.
Have your own revenge, i always do this against them, play everything you want and finish all moves in that turn, but don't click on END TURN button, let him suffer the same way, he will watch your empty mana crystals as the rope goes inch by inch, until you end the turn at the last second.
The player has his own time to think, but roping every turn isn't acceptable.
this is what happens, and this is why we can't have nice things. who do you suggest should waste the time going over these reports? nobody in Hearthstone can even do anything to you anyway and you actually do have the client to report people for really disgusting behavior.
"oh no my opponent is using his full timer which is his to control anyway he likes, better report him"
"oh no my opponent is spamming emotes, better report him"
"oh no my opponent drew keleseth, what a lucker, better report him"
"oh no my janky control deck is up against combo/kingsbane, I'm offended by this matchup, better report him"
"oh no my opponent is playing paladin, better report him"
I saw a tournament match a while ago and one of the players would sit and think until the rope appeared then make their moves. The commentators made it clear they weren’t being rude but just thorough. From a pure game theorists perspective this is the best way to play as it gives you the most time to think through any decisions and consider more outcomes. I know for a fact I’ve made tons of misplays simply because I rushed through my turn and didn’t think long enough. Roping gives both players more time to think however, and I would suggest try to use this time to double check your own strategy as your opponent mindlessly picks their ass and smells it.
If anything there should be a report system for players that add you after a match to say KYS then unfriend you.
no. but There should be an ability to report names. many people are going around with: "igotahardik", "loveurmom", "lickmahazz", "Buttfondler", "SxeBuddah". This are some examples from the decktracker history.

I do this all the time. It's amazing how quickly they stop roping.

LOL yesterday I was playing a match vs a retarded even paladin who was roping since turn 1. My opponent used all their mana -no coin in hand-, attacked with all creatures/weapon and then let the rope burn close to the end of the turn again and again. At the begining I was spamming "hello" emote because sometimes one may forget to pass -when this happens to me I send the sorry emote-, but when I realized it was intended -losing my time right, but also losing his OWN TIME, a completly nonsense- I continued spamming the threaten emote in a loop until the turn I was going to deal letal damage when I also roped.
To my opponent: I hope you enjoyed your 20 min lost match, motherfucker.

They're like "ok this game will take forever i better stop roping"
roping isn't pubishable, not everyone is a rank 20 player that only play cards that match the mana of each turn
You have your own time, that's totally fine, but roping each turn ?
turn 1\2\3 ?
how do you think? you make a new plan each round ? it's ok to rope, but not a lot.
One of the most high profile games we've ever had was a Lifecoach vs Trump match that answered that very question.
Lifecoach roped for the first three turns with pretty much nothing to do. We was known for roping but IIRC Trump had someone who was going to pick him up decide right then to show up as he was playing so he had to go very soon, which resulted in him getting visiblly ansy on the stream.
We found out what Lifecoach was doing those three turn: planning ahead. Every turn after that was instant, including turns that SHOULD'VE required more thought. He literally planned how the entire game was going to go by that point, and simply executed it. In a few more turns, the game was over.
It's an extreme example of what good players do in those first few turns. They figure out what their opponent is playing, what their mulligan means, and thus their advantage/disadvantage in the matchup. They then decide their win condition and what they should be focusing on in their next turns. There's actually A LOT you can plan out in the opening turns if you aren't playing casually.
Of course that rank 16 player spamming emotes probably isn't planing out their next 5 turns.
Reporting or other player-triggered actions is just asking for abuse without fixing the issue. I dislike the overall idea of the Chess based timer, but I've seen a more elegant version in MTGA, so I think we can find an idea that's not as blunt but helps hurry things along a bit. Maybe one that slightly shortens the overall time each time you see the rope, but resets once you've played a few turns before the rope shows.
(though that does screw over mobile players as we tend to rope a lot simply because of the lag in our phones)
Can anyone give me a legit reason why this hasn't been implemented yet?
It's completely uncalled for and highly annoying. And IMO I've been running into it more and more lately.
The people who do this have some serious mental issues.
If you rope...you should be banned...
...am I wrong? Convince me...
Because otherwise every time you win you would be reported because 90% of the players in this game get salty from losing.
1. Players have set time to think about their turn, they are in their full right to use it
2. Some people have shitty internet
Nevertheless, BM ropig, what you're probably referring to, is utter degeneracy

Simple resolve for salty losers.
If you falsely report a roper you get soft ban for 2 weeks from tavern brawl, ranked and arena.
You can only play Solo and casual (which would have no report system in place). And in casual your 3 win for gold would be cancelled.
The light shall burn you!

The solution is to reduce turn time to 1min. With your bansystem Lifecoach would be brought to justice tho.

in short, grow up.

Yes, eachother.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
Because people would spam the report button over salt rather than any real reason.
Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.
OP gives example why a function for reports would be misused and negates his whole question.
Good Job OP! We need more like this :D
Just no.
If anything, rather discuss if the rope functions ideally, but please remember those times your train goes into a short tunnel...
