The problem is, that if you arent madnice in deckbuilding, which most of us arent, then your deck will end up being super fun & exciting, but will suck dick 24/7 against pro lame ass consistent meta decks...
Which by the way you meet in casual, standard & wild...thats what demotivates most ppl to experiment to much. Well at least thats the reason for me:)
If i bring my own deck between rank 10- 15 it feels already like a legend rank.
So since the release of RR i was expecting the good ol tradition of ppl experimenting new decks like they used to. Except i played Ranked Standard Tavern Brawl Casual Standard and Ranked Wild. 75% of my opponents were Hunters and always the new op spell hunter.
Is there a reason for it or are HS players just close minded? Im running Chief Inspector in every deck now. Thats sas but i guess im just gonna start running a deck that wins against Spell Hunter. Cant have fun experimenting cause nobody else is.
Hunter is traditionally the class with the most bang-for-your-dust decks. A lot of players don't/aren't able to drop money into the game and/or don't have access to a large collection of cards. While it is true that some players only care about winning and want to farm players with experimental decks, I think it also has a lot to do with card availability. I don't really have an issue. I don't think it's productive to shame and criticize players' deck choices when you don't know the circumstances that may be dictating what good decks that player has to choose from to begin with.
Some people get pleasure from the game because they are numbers driven, maybe that's just how their brain works and that's what makes the game enjoyable for them. Should they feel compelled to make new decks because that's what other people enjoy doing? And do they have a responsibility to do things that may not maximize their overall enjoyment of the game simply because it will increase the enjoyment their opponent might experience?
Besides, if your new deck can't beat old decks, then it likely won't be able to survive. One aspect of the game is building your deck. The other aspect is optimizing it to beat other people's decks.
I'd do innovation, but the new Rogue set is extremely limited in what you can do. The one cool new card is Raiding Party, but the pool of Pirates is so shallow. The other cards practically build themselves (And there's Gral, but you can't really build a deck with him).

As casual as this game can be the almost entire community has absolutely never cared about fun in this game. As many things in life, hs is for people a simple way to get little moments of personal gratification. So no matter the expansion and the fun cards that can exist, the only thing people will always want is a deck that works and that wins, easily if possible. People hope for new cards but in reality they just wait the lists that work the most, even if it's the same decks we see for months and months. So it's sad but once again we have to prepare to eat dk hunter and odd pala until the next expansion. Thank you guys :)
did any of you THINK about the possibility that some people don't have as much time/money to spend on hs that they can make entire decks on day 1? the game isn't cheap
Blizzard doesn't encourage experimenting or making fun decks (or even making your own deck) -- instead thy deliberately encourage fast games for quickest rewards.
1. Not everyone knows how to build a deck for experimenting... Ohh wait. I mean like max 10% actually knows how to do that.
2. Experimenting costs a ton of money.
3. We have to wait 2 weeks to see if anything changes.
You are right but actually the real cost is time. I have no job and nothing to do, so I can experiment with things. I have just pre-ordered and had 0 gold when expansion hits and still can experiment and was f2p player until boomsday. Never bought anything before and what I only buy is boomsday pre-order and this pre-order. So I don't agree the "experimenting costs a tons of money" part.
TL;DR, The real cost is time.
Maybe if you have kids. But other than that? I get back home at 7 pm or later. Get out at 7:40 am. Fall asleep 23:30. Doesn't matter if I play 1 hour or 2 hours. I just want to try something new. At gyms sessions, while on a treadmill I stick to decks I know so I am actually able to make reasonable plays. I don't think it's all about time. People just don't give a shit about experimenting cause they've got no idea how fun can it be. It's all about the comfort zone and money really.
ok but you do undrstand building a deck can still take time mostly becuase unless you are a whale who just waste money or playing hearthstone like its a second job getting a collection will take you time even when you compere it to other cards games hearthstone has one of the slowest cards progression
I have tried some of the netdecks here, but I always try and put my own spin on it, I am not the best at deck building but with this expac I have been experimenting more then ever with the emphasis on enjoying myself and not caring much for rank atm
I want to experiment with decks, but I'm trying to focus one at a time. Got Zul'Jin in my packs, so trying to make a new Spellhunter first, which I find the brawl a fine place to test it in. But also got the parts for Heal Paladin, and some for Odd Mage with focus on hero power that I wanna adjust in more casual games.
More decks down the line too, but with a limited amount of dust, I have to be extremely cautious what I craft before it suddenly becomes useless. Especially since the rotation isn't all that far away, so crafting cards from expansions like Un'Goro isn't as worth it for me. Not the legendaries at least.
So I play with what I have for now, and try to switch things around until I can start seeing what decks are doing well, as that also shows what cards are worth it generally. Would really suck to craft a legendary just to see it was basically worthless. :(
And really, I don't get why so many find Hunter decks the big issue right now. I see vastly more OTK decks, and those are the real menaces. Really hoping that those gets some nerfs somehow not too far down the line, as frankly they're the most cancerous decks I ever play against.
Cards are boring from this expansion. I like my Reno spell hunter, dragon priest and bubble paladin. Only one new card I use - Zul'jin, a card that can finally help me to clear board. Sadly, he brings new cancer braindead trash, people complain about. I actually can not understand why they make broken cards for broken class, I hope they will not nerf my Zul'jin, but nerf spellstone and To My Side!, I do not want to lose my single board clear card.
I do not see any other card I'd want to put in my decks. So I do not have any reason for experimentations.

no one likes to lose. period.
this will never change.

Make the Card: The biggest thread on the site!
My mandibles which are capable of pressing down and tearing, my talons which are known to intercept and hold.
I used Pirate Rogue for the Brawliseum and ended 5-3. Cannon Barrage, Captain Hooktusk and Bloodsail Howler are good cards too.

DK hunter alone put all odd warrior deck into garbage.
1 broken hero card for hunter is not enough for Blizzard, give another one.
Spell hunter is a really easy deck to build, it practically builds itself, so of course people will start there.
did any of you THINK about the possibility that some people don't have as much time/money to spend on hs that they can make entire decks on day 1? the game isn't cheap
beat that deck a lot of times with odd warrior, and they played rexxar on 6.
you do know not every herthstone player is a whale that can just waste enough money for cards
not to meantion almost all of the new cards only work in specific decks meaning building decks on a budget is even harder
People use functioning and optimized decks on the ladder instead of unoptimized experiments? :O oh, the atrocity!!!

Blame Blizzard, not the players.

All inn-vitational decks.. pretty sure ddahyoni use the otk pally deck vs alliestraza and also the spell hunter and also a quest druid

Just played against a hadronox druid with 0 new cards. Just, Why?
