F2P account. I am at the point where a new expansion just got released and am contemplating dusting my extra golden cards for total of 22900 dust.
I might very well do it. It is pathetic, I hate how expensive Epics are and I missed playing a lot of decks because of them. I don't have the following:
That is a total of 20 Epics which equals 8000 dust or 34.93% of 22900
Looking at the new expansion epics there are 7 Epic cards I am consider crafting but for this expansion am planning to hold off crafting anything until I see how the other players fair with the decks...
Those are just epics... There are some legendarys that I want to craft and play too.
As a f2p player, dusting gold cards you have the max normal versions of should be a given. You need playable cards more than extra copies that are pretty to look at.
That being said, I would be very careful of crafting things that will rotate out soon. As a f2p player you need to have cards for as long as you can. If not they rotate to wild. Since a lot of f2p players dont play wild it may not be worth crafting some of those unless you do.
Craft decks not cards. Craft only what you use, and there should be a premium on neutral cards that fit into different decks.
Firstly wow to holding that many extra goldens, though that probably is why you are feeling the way you are now, since you didn't dust them earlier to enjoy the cards for longer.
Though I'm curious just HOW many decks are you desperate to play? I count at least 8 different decks at a minimum that you would HAVE to be desperate to play to require all of those decks. Do you really NEED to play Resurrect/Big priest at this point for Obsidian, or Cubelock for those Voidlords? And right at the start of a new expansion, so you aren't sure if any of those older decks will still be useful or interesting to you once the meta settles here.
This will only be useful if cubelock somehow returns (I actually haven't heard much of it in a while. Everyone want to go zoo nowadays) or deathrattle Rogue. Or an old version of Deathrattle Hunter.
This is really only big in Deathrattle Hunter and that's optional: Some people don't even play those cards and picked other big boys). And we aren't really sure that deck will hold out given how powerful Spell hunter is looking.
The only deck I know that uses this is APM priest. It's a cute deck but it's BADD. under 40% win rate under the BEST of conditions bad. you SURE you want to bother with that one?
Same as Voidlord though replace 'Cubelock" with "Resurrect Priest".
So really if you want to play Priest, Rogue, and Druid in general go for the ones I mentioned. The rest.. perhaps wait a while for the meta to see and see if you REALLLLLYYY want ot play those old decks or if something else is more interesting before you start a craftin.
I've opened 203 packs and only 26 epic, 5 of them are these golems with 50%. 100 bucks and still need tons of dust. Hearthstone... -.-
Basic rule of Hearthstone and, from how i hear it, a lot of other card games: Don't open packs for high rarities.
You open packs to complete your neutrals and rares. Trying to keep going for the epics/legendaries you need will always be a bad investment. You go from fun pack opening to flat out gambling.
Open your packs until you get most of your collection, then figure out what epics and legendaries you need and use your dust to get them.
IIRC it takes about 3-400 packs to get the dust you need to craft every card in the set. If you can't collect that much it might be best to stick to around 100 for the commons/rares.
You're complaining about dusting your extra golden cards worth 22k dust to craft 8k worth of Epics to make decks you'd like to play..?
wat..??
Never said I liked playing the decks. I can't like or dislike them because I never got a chance to play them.
He didn't say 'decks you enjoy playing' he said (and I'll expand the contraction to avoid confusion) 'decks you would like to play'.
If you like gold cards as a f2p player, then you'll probably just have to pick your favorites and disenchant the rest if you also want to keep up on meta decks. If it were possible to have competitive decks and keep a bunch of golden cards without spending money, hearthstone's business model would be a failure, they need to sell something.

I liked when they sold adventures even though I never bought it or anything from Hearthstone with real currency. At least with adventures you know what you will get and guaranteed to get it.
Besides I can't bring myself to pay almost a standard video game title price to only get 50 packs that will not even complete my common rarity card collection for the set. I bought 42 packs myself from saved up gold. Actually I can't bring myself to buy any randomized digital loot period.
I will wait a week or so then decide how much of my extra gold cards I might give up.

If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
Firstly wow to holding that many extra goldens, though that probably is why you are feeling the way you are now, since you didn't dust them earlier to enjoy the cards for longer.

Or to break it down:

2xDragonhatcher
This is only used in Taunt Druid and only if you have the other legendary cards to make that work.
2xUltimate Infestation
Ok, this one is rather "any druid". I'd go for this first.
2xBranching Paths
Same here. Though note that if you don't really care for druid at the moment then you can actually skip these.
2xVilespine Slayer
See the above, replaec 'druid' with 'rogue'.
2xVoidlord
Again, this is really only used in cubelock and I haven't heard much of that deck in a while. It might not even be relevant soon.
2xShadow Visions
See Vilespine, replace 'rogue' with Priest.
2xVivid Nightmare
The only deck I know that uses this is APM priest. It's a cute deck but it's BADD. under 40% win rate under the BEST of conditions bad. you SURE you want to bother with that one?

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Yeah epics are kinda rare.. I opened 433 packs and I am still missing 5 epics to have everything in double (got all legendaries)
I know I can easily craft them with the extra dust but it's kinda crazy to think that with 433 pack I don't even have a complete set..
