So now that the whole set has been spoiled, anyone else feeling underwhelmed by the new legendaries? It seems like Blizzard tuned down the power level of cards in this set.
Not really, there are several with a lot of potencial!
I am a bit puzzeled how they try to support older failed archetypes rather than introducing new ones. Also, the epic cards seem rather weak, but it is fine, fewer cards to craft!
Yeah, I guess at least power creep won't be a problem with this set. I just feel like there aren't any new "build-around-me" cards that push exciting new archetypes. Stuff like Reno (build your deck with only singletons), Even and Odd with Baku and Genn.
Maybe they pushed the power level a bit too high with those sets, and are scaling it back down.
I just hope that new archetypes will emerge to shake up the meta, and not just "Odd [insert class here] with 2 Rastakhan's Rumble cards splashed in.
I personally disagree, and find quite a bit of the cards from this set to be useful, and potentially something that can be built into something good. Still disappointing that there were no Jani loa card, but other than that, I find most of the loa to be interesting and giving ideas. Except for the Rogue one. The shark is leaving me somewhat puzzled.

Yes. I do.
Maybe that's not such a bad thing? It means I don't feel so bothered about not getting the big preorder package. And it gives players a chance to catch up on the more powerful legendaries for an expansion.
3 out of 5 Neutral legendaries seem good, so that part is in line with Witchwood and Boomsday.
About the class legendaries, they are very dependant on the decks that will be viable, I think. That said, I'd bet Zul'jin and Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk will be good.
Maybe they pushed the power level a bit too high with those sets, and are scaling it back down.
a bit? Quests, Hero cards, legendary weapons, legendary spells, upgraded hero powers from the start, minions that cost 0 with so easy to pull conditions etc etc
I realy liked times when you needed to play around max 2 aoe spells to not fall behind too much in trading minions.. now you can clear their board 6 times and still lose to odd paladin or heal lock.. or to some not interactive deck like shuderwock where trading minions means nothing and they print more and more cards like these ;/
Overall so many games feel like they depend on coin toss, so i would be happy IF they start tunning things down.
Legendaries are weakish (other then mage) or meme so we are still gonna rely on DKs as late game. Some new archetypes like Malygos Shaman or Dragon/control Warr may arise which is good.
Overall I just wish they had given more late game to Paladins.
It's nothing personal, or specifically pointed to any post in this thread, but its funny how in many posts throughout the spoilers season people are using Rexxar DK as a parameter of 'OP tier'.
You guys remember when it got released? Definitely fun, but people were complaining about it being too slow, low impact battlecry, too mana-expensive to build and cast a high-value zombeast all at the same turn, etc..
The meta changed and now DK is the ultimate value generator.
So, we'll definitely see a lot of dehyped dudes becoming a must craft, be patient.

Appart from the meta, there's also the fact that new Beasts have been added, which are great with Build-A-Beast. Specially those with Lifesteal.

most "failed" archetypes fail because they dont get enough support, remember when resurrect priest was nothing but just an unreliable gimmick using Injured Blademaster? Resurrect, some dragon aspects, Barnes and Onyx Bishop?, well, see where resurrect priest is now, a top tier combo deck in standard and the ever polarizing Big priest in wild, and the same happened to Murloc paladin, we all laughed at blizzard for giving paladin a bunch of Murlocs in different expansions from tgt to Gadgetzan, and then un'goro happened and Murloc paladin was suddenly top tier, and the same with dude paladin, we know him as odd paladin now but he's technically the dude paladin that never worked with "failed archetype" cards like Warhorse Trainer
edit: and how to forget the Purify uproar that led to silence priest in un'goro, a hhyes and before Shadow Visions existed, Divine Spirit+ Inner Fire deck where considered noobbait trap decks, and then there's totem shamman, frigging mid-range shamman in kharazan was technically totem shamman that didn't work on tgt and somehow broke in kharazan, even now even shamman can be considerer Totem shamman (well more accurately totem jade shamman) because it runs a lot of totem sinergy cards, hell even the formerly "failed" Draenei Totemcarver made it into the lists now
the point is that archetypes may have a strong core but not enough support, so calling them failed may be akin to shooting yourself in the foot.
I'm rather hyped for this one to be honest. In terms of story-telling and building HS lore, Blizzard have been getting better in recent expansions. This one has a great and unique feel to it.
I also appreciate how Blizz have released the Loas and their champions as key cards that need to be built around rather than being auto-includes. John Travolta Disco-Lock looks mighty interesting and the Paladin tools to lead the class towards a Healadin type looks good. I'm also hopeful we'll see some more tempo orientated Warrior Builds. I think there's a bigger attempt at new things here than we've seen for a while. All we miss is a way to remove or neatralise high stacks of armour, but I live in hope.
This keyword allowed most of the zombeasts to have an immediate impact on the board. If it wasn't for this, poisonous/lifesteal Cave Hydra would have been silenced or killed with a spell.
So, imho the introduction of rush and more lifesteal, poisonous beasts made the hunter DK powerful.
I am a little but thats because i haven't seen their full potential. I didn't think Shudderwock would be as good as it was till all the potential was revealed. So we shall see what we can come up with.
But i am also a Wild player, so the number of cards with potential to be deck-defining is forcefully small. Even less so about meta-defining cards.
On paper, i am unconvinced of Healadin support in Wild meta, and that's about the only new archetype i am gonna tinker with.
I am also unconvinced with the new Mage cards for Tempo/Midrange purposes.
Zul'jin looks mind-blowing in Secret Hunter, but again, i think he is a bit too slow, and not better than DK Rexxar in Wild.
On the other hand, there's a few non-Legendary interesting cards that fit into Even Rogue, Druid, and to some extent Priest, that look very promising about the tier ranking of those decks, in Wild.
Shaman and Warrior look interesting but i am not attracted by their possible decks.
However, even tho Warlock is not a main class to me, i am secretely hoping to drop the new Discard package, it looks effective and so damn fun...
Inb4 I am also a bit disappointed by the recently revealed cards. Look, I know that the power level has to be tuned down, so that previously revealed cards can still be playable, but I am kinda tired playing and seeing the same decks again.
Since the Year of the Mammoth KoFT was the most exciting expansion for me. I got hyped for the hero cards - their design was something extraordinary back then and they could fit in variety of decks (unlike the quests or most of the weapons) - and as fan of Wotlk (I still play it) how can I not enjoy the pve content? The power level was increased a bit, but the experience back then was exciting. RR continues the WoW lore and I also like the introduction of loas (godlike beasts, worshiped by troll tribes). But my issue is how some of them are kinda underwhelming and don't feel like the godlike beast they should be. I am not saying, that they should be OP, but they could have been a bit more versatile or unique.
The warlock's loa is a plain Doppelgangster with not much support from this set and he is weaker than Dragoncaller Alanna in BSM. Making a set-up for her is easier, because you don't waste any resources on trying to buff her. You play spells to survive and she happens to grant you more value. So you don't actually make a set-up, you just play a normal game. Shirvallah, the Tiger looks like a Crystal Lion with 2 more attack points, rush and lifesteal. I don't mean to say, that he will turn out to be a weak card, I just think he is kinda boring. He isn't that unique, so why do trolls in the hearthstone universe praise him? Gonk, the Raptor feels more like a Loa. Krag'wa, the Frog too. The other beasts (except for mage) - not so much.
I also don't know what to feel about RR supporting weak archtypes. Out of the 9 quests the warlock, the paladin and the hunter ones were considered as a meme (shaman's quest isn't disastrous, but ok, and people made combo decks with the druid one) and now the class' sets are giving them heavy support. There was such from the previous expansions (KoFT, K&C, WW and BP), but those gave them a card or two at max. And I would like to play those decks, but I lack the important cards, which define them - the quests, which the RR legendaries are mostly supporting. When Un'goro rotates out, I am not really sure if I would want to play with them anymore.
So now that the whole set has been spoiled, anyone else feeling underwhelmed by the new legendaries?

Bad players whine.
Good players adapt.

They are very cool and not OP, i believe they're on a good path.

Looking forward to combo hunter, quest hunter and Quest warlock which might finally will be a thing.
Healadin might be worth trying, but I have a hard time figuring out a relevant end strategy.

Golden Hero Collections thus far; -
Europe: Druid, Hunter, Paladin, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior (9/9)
