Hi folks, this is my first post in hearthpwn and this is my F2P answer for all players who speaking about HS is not F2P. This is my solution. I'm been playing HS since NAXX and now i created a new F2P account like 3 weeks ago. Now I have a golden Wizzbang for fun and simple odd paladin (without Crippers and Level Up) for climbing the ladder. Now I'm in 13 rank and still go on. Don't waste you money on HS just enjoy F2P ultimate experience.
I'm not english native speaker, sorry for mistakes.
I'm sorry but it would take a year for an F2P player to get 3200 Dust to make a golden Whizbang.
legendary in 10 packs rule dude. Plus 2 legendaries from boomsday and knight of frozen throne. I'm also have Alex, Maly and another 4 legendaries in my collection
It’s not P2W per se, but I would MUCH rather have my deck slots full of fun and viable decks then a small handful to play. I have all 18 deck slots full at all times, and constantly try out new stuff. Same with MTG Arena. For me the variety is what a CCG is all about, but that’s just me.
I have a secondary F2P account and you can definitely make decent progress over time. Daily quests add up to at least 60 packs per expansion (4 months) and Blizzard seems to be increasing the amount of free stuff they give away.
If you want to play a variety of decks though, which (let's be honest) is the most fun way to play, you have to pay. Which is fine, in my opinion.
A new player could follow Disguised Toast's video on new player freebies and get a Baku with the dust, then (eventually but rather easily) get to rank 5. Rank 5 is the last rank that gives a competitive reward. Everything else is just a pissing contest.

But how about Whizband decks? most of them is tier 2-3 and still playable. How much money do you spend in 18 1-tier decks?

They are strong. I love my Golden Whizbang, so much fun.
i haven’t spent an insane amount, maybe 200-250$ over the period of 2 years (started playing during Okd Gods). To me that’s a more-than-acceptable amount on something I play quite a bit.
ive spent about $120 on MTG Arena so far, but that’s because I really wanted to jump in head first. It is absolutely worth it. 15 decks so far, and about 2-3 are considered competitive T1-T2.
Back to HS after a long time (like 3 years) without login. See the tier lists, craft the Zoolock and rush rank 25 to 4. I spend money after that to craft more decks and etc. but before i only use gold for quests and events to make dust. Is a hard path, but not impossible.
Actually, I am pretty sure that having full standard collection is pretty easy for a F2P player if he dusts cards when they rotate out. Wild is the place where you do need money to have many decks.
F2P is viable but it's much harder to get started now then it was early on in the games existence.
I spent 2 bucks back in the Beta and not a penny since. You can check out my collection I can run about every deck I want. I am not crazy about maxing gold either and I don't even dust gold cards.
I’m F2P since Beta. F2P is easily viable, but the first months are going to be rough until you’ve established a collection. That’s really the problem with F2P, whether you can deal with three or four months of frustration before finally getting over the curve into something somewhat competitive.
Had no problem crafting a mid-hunter on my new F2P, especially with 3-pack bonuses every five ranks and the chicken dinner (yum yum). Could probably dust stuff at 25 and make the Whizbang, even golden.

Reddit?
Unpopular opinion: Rogue is OP
Wizzbang is so good for f2p players, I think its possible to hit even rank 8 or 7 with it SeemsGood
ye rank 8 is the max i could get
But why not rank 5? In this ranks all players plays with some shitty tier 1 decks

Rusty Recycler
Ironic. It could recycle others, but not itself.
Um... not true at all.

I never saw the appeal of f2p. However, I must agree that Whizzbang does wonders for f2p players!
In my experience:

dude... you are very very wrong.
Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.
