Why did they have to nerf Mana Wyrm instead of putting it in the HoF ?
They killed an archetype that existed since the beginning of HS (Tempo Mage) meanwhile Shaman still has Tunnel Trogg .. which is arguably stronger.
I despise blizzard for killing classic cards, put them in the freaking HoF instead.. I don't mind nerfs like Giggling because it's from a new expansion but MANA WYRM... the lil dude has been around for years.
Because isn't fun to play against strong 1 drops. Like Pirate Warrior before nerf. Face face face, zero interaction. Maybe they are planning to create 1 mana spells and they did that in order not to get out of control.
If an archetype has existed since the beginning of Hearthstone it doesn't mean their core cards are sacred and shouldn't be nerfed. Mana wyrm has always been unhealthy for the game, and nerfing it to 2 mana was the most effective and simple solution to its problem: being too hard to remove as a 1-drop while also being able to snowball games.
Also, cards being too powerful is, by itself, NOT a good reason to put them in the Hall of Fame. The main reason Blizzard puts cards in the HoF is to open up design space. A good example is Sylvanas Windrunner, which severly limited design space for cards with deathrattle synergy. Moving cards to the HoF while nerfing them also solves the problem would be lazy and unfair to wild players.
They only send cards to HoF if it will be abused so hard, for example look at priests cards, he can summon 99 sylvanas in one game, so they send her to HoF to avoid the card's future nerf.
Yeah, they should put Mana Wyrm in the HoF, but also change its health to 2 (and obviously its cost back to 1). I think that would be the best solution and would make most players happy. :)
I like how people that don't play wild demand that this card pe HoF'ed, as a wild player do you think we like this here?
And the answer is NO we do not like snowbolling 1 drops that wins the game on turn 1.
Mage has lost one of its main archetypes but that doesn't mean it can find more.
I often see people complaining about cards being too powerful that are not being nerfed and the conclusion is "Don't worry it will be in wild in x months" which is comforting for standard players but how do you think wild players feel about that?
a 1 drop should never be able to trade into a well stated 4 to 10 drop, and mana wyrn at 1 mana does it, + sometimes you need cards that cost 2/3/4 mana (mostly spells) to kill it, when i have to shadow word death a mana wyrn, im not sure if i should feel happy or sad about it.
Cause Wild exists. I know, how dare they consider that game mode, eh? I would have liked the nerf to 2-hp, not 2 mana, but just HoFing that without change was certainly not solving the problem.
Because they only HOF cards at the beginning of each standard year, but needed the nerf now because of some new broken synergies in the upcoming set (I hope!)
There is a chance they give it the Molten Giant treatment next year, but I doubt it. With Patches the Pirate available in Wild, Mana Wyrm is far from problematic there, even with more cheap spells to choose from.

Even if that were the cause for not HoFing how would it make sense to nerf Mana Wyrm but not Tunnel Trogg?
The question could also easily be asked; "Why is it not okay for a class to have a snowball 1 drop but it is okay for a class like Odd Pally to create snowball wide boards just as quickly?
The lack of consistency over T5's reactions to playstyles is staggering.

You explained the reason why they nerfed it: they don't want the same archetype existing in mostly the same form to exist eternally. Even in wild, it can get boring

Honestly I just think it got nerfed because people were upset there weren't going to be any nerfs at first. Then they picked one of the cards that have been most complained about the past year and they nerfed it.

Thoughts ?
The inevitable result of them not rotating the entire classic set.
Free to try and find a game, dealing cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
Nope, it’s even more obnoxious in Wild. It had its time in the spotlight. Happy to see the back of it.
Dibbity don't touch that!

Perhaps if you are running a standard deck there. Cat Trick easily dispatches it, as does Quick Shot.

Cause mana wyrm would plague wild only as its stronger there.
Aggro mage is the most toxic archetype in HS. Playing aggro requires a bit more brain that ppl give it credit for but aggro mage requires ZERO skill.
Sorry that u need ro think ur plays from now on. Unistall HS pls
I well hope they didn't HoF because they seriously plan to design more cheap spells.
Yet, in Wild, you can replace Wyrm with Ice Lance or Secretkeeper with some additional tuning towards Freeze or Secrets (or both if you like):
It won't snowball equally hard, but Tempo Mage is still good there. Surely not top tier, but it's never been anyway.
