Of all the decks around lately, to me Odd Paladin seems the worst. Yeah, Taunt Druid with Hadronox is pretty bad with all the re-summoning of that epic, but it's still not just as straight-up dumb as Odd Paladin. The thing about Odd Paladin is that it's so basic and so elementary. There is really nothing to the deck. There are no real combos, there aren't any complicated plays you need to make. Just push the button and Level Up and win. At least decks like Test Subject Priest I can respect because setting up and executing that combo is a challenge, cheesy as it may be, but Odd Paladin, come on...
To me this deck exemplifies one of the best things about hearthstone. A good beginner friendly deck. It isn't too complicated, but has massive room for learning the basics. It is a much better deck than the face hunter of old.
I would recommend it to any beginner hoping to learn the basics of when to trade, when to push face, when to hold back resources and when to push further.
I don't really agree on this. I haven't played odd paladin for quite a while, but when I did it has far more options than odd rogue, even warlock, zoo warlock and tempo mage. Maybe you never played it yourself. Against many matchups it is quite some work to get to your level up turn.
Well, but that's the issue. Yeah, its a "good deck for beginners", but its also the overall top deck. So to me, when the best deck in the game is a "good beginner deck", that's a bad sign...

Not sure what options you are talking about. It's basically just a bunch of cheap minions and Level Up. Every turn is literally just press the button, play as many other minions as you can, and play Level Up. There are essentially no decisions to be made. You could probably just create a script that says > Push Button > If you can play Level Up and more than 1 Silverhand Recruit is on the board, play Level Up > play as many other minions as possible, and that simple script could make it to Legend with this deck. That is literally all you do with this deck.
You are oversimplifying this deck. There is a strategy which may be easy, but requires decisions. The deck is easy to handle, but you are not just playing defensive for like 10 turns in order to collect everything to your otk turn.
And since the deck strategy is easy, as an opponent you can know, what to expect, and if you are faster (like Heal Zoo Warlock), or you can manage to survive 10-12 turns, than you will win.
I started playing right after Witchwood came out and Odd Paladin is the only reason I really got into the game. Cheap, simple, some variation in how you can make your deck and fun. I admit it is stupid strong though

Sorry, but what? How is Taunt Druid any less dumb than Odd Paladin? Taunt druid has the same 20 or so card shell that the majority of Druid decks have. All it does is play ramp, draw, armor gain and drops taunts that the opponent HAVE to deal with. Eventually, you just drop Hadronox and snipe it with Naturalize before the opponent gets to interact with it. Then after that, Witching Hour + Cube to trigger it again before the opponent gets to do anything about it, to refill the board with hefty taunts.
There is no way Taunt Druid takes any more brain power than Odd Paladin. Its as dumb, if not even more brain dead.

There are no real combos for any aggro deck. And there aren't many complicated plays for most decks anyway. And by not complicated, it means that the play style is fairly easy and usually doesn't take too much thinking, play your minions on curve, basic value trades and go face. However, it doesn't mean that it's easy to play perfectly, even on some dumb aggro deck, because it's not. Even the best players in the world don't play perfectly, so imagine the average player.. people think they don't make mistakes but they do, they just don't see it.
TLDR; Some decks are fairly easy to play but it's very difficult to pilot them perfectly, I'd even say that it's impossible to play every game perfectly, even with decks that are easy to play, such as Odd Paladin.
As someone who played odd paladin a lot over the last two expansions, I can say that, while yes, the overall goal of the deck is simple, it isn’t quite that straightforward. Because this deck goes really wide with lots of smaller minions, the deck becomes very susceptible to AOE. The best game I have ever played with this deck is against a control priest that didn’t seem to have anything playable in hand, while i started with two Lost in the Jungle and a Level Up! going second. Basically turn 4 and a board full of 3/3’s later, the game didn’t last very long. However, 90% of the time this isn’t the case. Being 1/1’s Silver Hand Recruit’s die very easily to things like Spirit Lash, Swipe, Hellfire, anything control warrior related, I could go on for a while. One particularly estute hearthstone you tuber, penniless player, recently discussed the idea of the polarised meta we see today. While hearthstone’s balance is better than it has been in some time, the main problem with this current meta is the idea of so many win/loss scenarios depending on what deck you play. If i were to take odd paladin against a control warrior, 80% of the time I lose that matchup, however if I took it against something like death rattle rogue, I would beat them 80% of the time. What you are experiencing is something like this. Whatever deck you’re playing most likely is a bad matchup against odd paladin.
TL;DR While the game plan of odd paladin is simple, this deck, or any others worth their salt, are not stupid, and it is actually the meta polarity to blame.
I would agree if Odd Paladin was actually that strong but it has a lot of ways to counter the deck. It's main weakness is it's lack of board clears. Any deck that can build better boards more reliably (because Odd Paladin only has Level Up, Unidentified Maul, and the smaller buffs of Fungalmancer and the occasional include of Stormwind Champion to buff the silver hand recruits) will push through fairly easily. Like Evenlock or Deathratlle Hunter. Heavy control also dominates Odd Paladin. Play Odd Warrior or just Control Warrior against Odd Paladin one time and try to tell me you don't get an erection
As stupid as this thread. Odd Paladin, odd rogue, even shaman (mostly in wild), zoo heal lock are all same types of decks. Just flood the board and go face.
people complain about combo decks, about control decks, about Aggro decks. If all decks were same, it wouldn’t be interesting to play.

Odd Paladin is fine. You win or lose against it pretty fast. I prefer playing against it than do 30 minute games against Shudderwock Shaman or Odd Warrior.
Most ppl consider aggro decks are stupid. And Odd Paladin is a good aggro deck. But aggro deck a vital part of any meta if you dont want to face crazy combo deck all the time
Odd Paladin is the only Aggro deck where the Hero Power (your infinite resource) is not just a key element, but also the very basis of your wincondition.
Such a wincondition makes Odd Paladin nearly brainless when it's about to play around AoE, because half (or more) of what is killed is the product of an infinite resource.
Indeed, you have to hold only against Spreading Plague, and even then, only if you do not have Void Ripper at hand.
Ofc trading vs Aggro is not brainless, but that does not save Odd Paladin from being possibly the easiest meta deck to play.
PS: because of the above, Zoolock is arguably a much better place for learners.
Some of my favorite games playing even shaman were against odd paladins, because it's a tussle to hold the board. They know you have some limited comeback tools as well so they have to push but also balance holding the board. If there were more board centric decks which don't pack a ton of AOE and stall tools, the match up vs odd paladin would be more fun. If you're into playing draw cards, armoring up, and dropping free minions as a by-product of spells so you can kill your opponent in one turn, that's your choice.

"When to trade" LOL!
Fun > Meta
cmon warlock is the worst one, even odd paladin can be defeated by them
Blizz, can i play class other than paladin?
