also all the ratings of streamers I saw so far tend to agree with me (it's a meme card)
none of the defenders of this card didn't said why is this card needed for those matchups, why does warlock needs this card instead of a well timed demonic project or dirty rat?
Void Contract, while probably not good, has a niche where it's very good. That niche probably won't materialize because it's unfun...but hey...Togwaggle (also unfun) is competitive now, so you never know.
That’s what people said about Rin... too slow it sucks blabla. You need to keep in mind that warlock is the king of control deck and it’s not too far fetched to think some kind of heavy control warlock could use the card to instantly beat combo decks.
Yes it usually beats combo decks when played but the meta isn't infested with combo decks at the moment, and it's possibly the worst card in the entire game against any deck that isn't a combo deck.
I've played enough demonic project to say it isn't auto win against every otk, sometimes you just get bad luck, whether it is not drawing the cards or hitting nothing. Also that card that eventually, over several turns, kills their deck, is exactly that, usually something that takes too long.
That's the reason people would include this card, since the only reason they play the deck is to beat those decks. And when it's currently not happening at a high enough clip, here we are.
At the end of the day it is nice that the threat of this card will at least give people second thoughts about playing certain decks. You'll definitely see void contract enough at first that it will effect things.
Similar to Biology Project, people are really underestimating how devastating the symmetrical effect is. Warlock draws more than almost any other class, and it's control matches usually go to fatigue. Blasting 8 cards or so from your deck might delete your DK or Twisting Nether or Voidlord, but it will definitely rush you to fatigue 8 turns faster, which control Warlock definitely doesn't want to deal with.
People are hating way too much on Void Contract, you guys need to take a chill pill. If the argument is that control warlock already has Demonic Project [/card] and [card]gnomeferatu as techs against combo, well... now you can actually play a card that pretty much ASSURES you that will destroy the opponent's combo and you can take out Demonic Project [/card]and [card]gnomeferatu from the deck and put some anti-aggro cards or whatever you want. The card just gave you 2-3 flex spots on the deck, you're welcome.
Or you're going against Mechathun and you just cleared half his deck for him.
A 50/50 chance is pretty damn far from "assured". And hell, its not even 50/50, even if you drop it turn 1 with coin + bloodbloom you have a 12/30 (40%) chance because of cards in hand, and then you're at 3 cards in hand no board presence and 8 damage to self, so you've basically already lost because you wanted to try for a 40% chance to stop a combo.
It's actually higher than that, because you need to just destroy 1 card from the combo. Let's say the combo is 3 cards, then the 12 milled cards needs to only contain 1 of the combo cards. I can't remember the formula off the top of my head, but it's much better odds than 40%.
I think Void contract would fit in an Even warlock deck to be used with Bloodloom and should be used before turn 8. Actually turn 5 - 6 would be ideal before druids start to draw. Using the combo too early would be a mistake you need to draw cards and with a 1 mana draw hero power...you can draw like hell in the first turns first to get a max of cards (should mulligan for Bloodloom). Chances you will get bloodloom and Void quite fast. Normally you would have then more cards than your opponent when you play Void Contract. The idea for this deck built around this card is that it should be able to handle the loss of 6 - 9 cards which could be totally possible if the cards yet to be revealed gives warlock the means to do so. Theory: the deck should be built with solid stand alone cards, forget synergy, just minions having summon, heal, deathrattle, taunt etc etc. With an opponent who has lost half of this deck and less cards than you in hand you should have a huge advantage. An aggro deck would lose steam and be out of minions quite fast...specially if they lose their finishers. As for control decks well, if its a combo deck he is done otherwise the others control are likely to lose their key cards. Looks interesting on the paper but again we need to see the other cards of the expansion to see if this card can see play.

As a combo deck player, Demonic Project is just waaay to easy to play around, mainly when it comes from a deck with no pressure what so ever and therefore I can sandbag my utility minions. Why would you waste 4 deck slots on bad cards against -Demonic Project and Gnomeferatu (I can't even respect the second one as an anti-combo card) combo when you can waste 1 (maybe 2 for a second Void Contract or Bloodbloom). And given that combo decks usually have like 4+ pieces, the chance of Void Contract touching something relevant is a little under 50% (for 4 pieces, played on turn 8 given that the opp drew 15 cards (15 cards left in the deck) and given that any of the 4 cards is relevant) made the math on top of my head but I think that's something close to that. And I think this case is really under average for what Void Contract is capable of.
But give me those juicy 50% win rate against combo decks just because I'm playing one card and I'll take it anytime.
why? because demonic project and gnomeferatu aren't dead against none combo decks, and you odn't HAVE to run 2 copies of gnomeferatu and demonic project.
demonic project can be useful against aggro runing their curve ON TURN 2 if you have demonic and no good cards in hand and nothing better to do.. but if you have void contract on turn 2.. well it's pointless..
having hard time to fit playing demonic project as a 2 mana card that doesn't affect the board, but sure I have 8 spare mana or 2 pointless cards in my hand.
would rather run *2 demonic project than bloodbloom + void contract it's just better 99% of the time.
anyway feel free to play void contract I hope to match against you to get a free win.
When I saw this card, I was thinking of deck manipulation rather than combos. Benedictus, Academic Espionage, Lab Recruiter, Togwaggle, Dead Man's hand and other cards mess with your deck size, and Void Contract can make for some counterplay to it. Even some Recruit decks could lose more than their Warlock opponents.
This is my small issue with Hearthstone's rating system. Even bad cards can define the meta in a very literal way. Basically, combo decks simply cannot become dominant because this card exists. It's just not possible. If for some reason every other class started running a combo deck, this card will all of a sudden become the most reliable way to stop them. So, while I agree that this card is bad, it's very existence also dictates how the meta can be shaped, making it by definition, meta-defining.
Agree, you don't need to use a card to make it meta-defining.
So much hate for this card. It's far too early for that. We have no idea what else is going to be revealed.
Maybe it'll work in a mecha'thun deck, or maybe there will be something similar to Cruel Dinomancer that works on destroyed cards, or cards that get more powerful based on the amount of cards left in your deck?
I think it has potential, and hope Blizzard don't waste it.

Rebuke was just plain bad.

I agree with OP. I also think the card is overrated.

A card can be meta defining without seeing mutch or any play.

But yes, it probably still sucks!

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? "8 MANA: SKIP YOUR TURN" IS INSANE!
Agree, you don't need to use a card to make it meta-defining.
Okay, after the the expansion hits use it in Standard. Make a deck, make 55-60, 80% win-rate, share it and show us what you made of.

i feelt he exact same way. people who craft that day 1 will be very disappointed.
Rejoice, for even in death, you have become children of Thanos.
